View Full Version : Akis's sessions
well after reading through every page of Jez's scores once again(I think that I have read every single user score page:rolleyes:)I started to wonder what kind of scores Akis has achieved in his last sessions? dont worry guys this isn't a Andy prove your self type thread I am just intrigued because as I progress with my sessions I am constantly reading old/new user threads to see what kind changes/routines help them to improve their own scores.
Also I like to compare my scores to others so that I can set targets for my future spins e.g once I started to get near 15k I began reading through the other 15ks spinners threads to see what kind of 30s/90s they were scoring so that I could make sure I was keeping up.
so Akis I ask that if you dont mind could you please post a few scores because even though I still have a long way to go I am always trying to find out more about how others spin but sadly Jez seems to be the only 15k8 spinner that provided detailed session round ups.
Edit: sadly the only thing I have noticed so far is that I still need to really work on my metal heavy/light scores
Hi Ben
Congratulations again for your performance, you are on a great trajectory. Don’t worry about the metal scores; they will come out in time.
Unfortunately I don’t have any good sessions lately. I try to train as regularly as I can of course and keep in a fairly good condition, I can easily do 15k+ scores cold, but I am nowhere near the performance I was during the good days. The good 16.5k+ scores were made after exhaustive long sessions, which could take over 6 hours sometimes (11 hours is my longest) and would give me super hot modes but this is not possible for me now.
In any case, I will return here and post some scores when I get the time for a decent session.
Keep pushing; take advantage of your momentum and you’ll get over the barrier. Don’t ever be disappointed if your performance lowers; just rest completely for a few days and you’ll get back stronger!
Regards
Akis

Hello Akis!
A six hour session sounds very agonizing. What does it consist of if I may ask?
Best regards, Tuomas
Thank you for your reply akis and I will try to stay as motivated as I can plus 6+ hours that is just pure dedication

I was talking about powerballl marathon sessions for record attempts. So, apart from the warm-up, it's repeated speed sessions.

It definitely takes total dedication. You may feel exhausted after 3 hours but you have to keep pushing to get a super hot mode!

Once again thank you for your response, since I keep to just one session a week I may give a long session a try maybe 3+ hours will be the key for me to move up to the 16k club
Greetings to all.
I decided to have a session yesterday and try with the Autostart.
(Not so smart idea actually... I intended to spin only with right hand however I was tempted and got a few runs with my left as well and screwed it up... Elbow is now in worse condition and it pains more than even before I began treatment...)
It seems certain that the Autostart runs faster. I can't really explain why, it is built like the other plastic models and it would be logic to assume that the built-in startup mechanism would burden the rotor spin and make it a bit slower than the "light-built" 250 Hz. However this does not happen.
I used one Autostart and one 250 Hz, both brand new. After some run-in with mild spins on both balls, I got a very good warm up and then tried some spins. In two comparable runs, where both balls were run-in at about the same level and I was at a proper hot mode (but not such much as to be "adapted" to a certain ball type or even a specific ball) I had a 16475 at the Autostart while only 15911 at the 250 Hz, both right hand. After a few efforts, I only managed to get the 250 Hz at 16.1k and ended the session with a few Autostart runs with maximum a 16676 rpm.
After that my left arm got like having a knife inside my elbow and now I now can't even lift a napkin let alone spin a Powerball! I should definitely let it heal now and never be tempted again until then.
Keep spinning and kind regards to all
Akis
Wow, akis akis is really very impressive. I hope the pain will leave quickly. Whaou you were not very far from your record, in my opinion after treatment and recovery may take you a few more rotations. Takes care of your health, I know that is not easy not to crack and make the powerball (I am well placed). Good luck and congratulations for this 16k6 +.
That is quite a difference between the balls. Looks like 17k is very plausible with autostart once you have fully healed.

Seems like the autostart is a bit faster than the regular 250hz to every spinner (:
Good work on 16k6 make sure to heal properly and go for 16k8 (:

Nice scores Akis! Try to heal your elbow quickly and come back with some 17k :)
so that answers my point ,the auto start should have its own score board other wise its not fair on the hard earned places people have fought for on the standard balls ..

what if the user has removed the shell of the autostart and used its inner rotor in a regular 250hz shell?Dont think it would be able for the approver to make out whether its a regular or an autostart one so here's a controversial issue that im sure will boost many cheaters to use stealth autostart rotors as regular 250hz ones.

Nice to hear from you Akis. Great session and a real shame to hear about your Left elbow. Hope that your recovery is fast and that you will be able to return to powerballing without the fear of hurting your elbow again, as you still have the technique for hitting the High Scores. Good luck and hope to see some more post from you in the future.
Great scores Akis and that is a very big gap in speeds so I think Enda needs to give every one a definitive answer about what should happen with the score boards, either way great scores and I hope that you can heal fast and show us some new records next yeah.

You have a good point here, Nick! I expected a revolutionary situation once Akis gets ahold of one! ;)
Akis, so sorry about your injury man!!! Maybe time for your right hand to catch up :)

Great scores Akis! I know you can go for 17k soon!
What kind of run-in you did for the balls if I may ask. Did you do endurance or just medium-speed spins?
And these two comparable runs - how long break did you have in between the runs? In some scases I have found out that even with the same ball the run could fail and I get like 500 rpms difference between two runs.
In the end I believe that it's easier to spin the autostart if you know the technique but my opinion is that it's just new advanced technology and we all should enjoy it!
There's no sense in making a separate scoreboard for the autostart. It makes a lot harder or impossible to validate the scores. If everybody knows that the autostart is the best gyro in the world it will just boost the sales of the ball and inspire old stagers to break their records...
For my part I am currently the best score with pro auto start with that, but I just had to see again for the next (end of off-topic)
Thanks for the comments everyone. I hope to get some good scores again but I will have to let my elbow heal completely before doing any other effort.
Tburke, I didn't actually do any serious run-in on the balls, I just had some mild spins at 10-13k. I agree that you can get big discrepancies even with the same ball even at consequent runs and that's why I talked about two comparable runs. The balls were at the same level of run-in, I was at a certain level of hot mode and both runs felt the same in terms of effort and output. This comparison cannot be considered as a standard rule of course, but it gives an idea.

hey Akis have a happy new year !!Are you still recovering from your injury?I'd love to see an update on your scores
Hi Nick, happy New Year to you and everyone!
I am still under treatment on my left arm, it is a persistent injury and will take some time...
Let's hope 2012 to be a year with many new records and action in the scoreboard!
Kind regards
Akis
Greetings to all
I managed to have a session earlier today (not so long, about 2-3 hours) and here are the best scores:
250 Hz: 16619 (felt good)
HWM: 13708 (one effort only)
LWM: 19563
My Autostart had some vibrations; I probably need some repair or to run in a new one. So now Autostart scores this time (shame).
All scores right hand (left is still under treatment).
Keep spinning and with kind regards
Akis

Just amazing scores man! 16.8k isn't far away ;) Three hours with only one hand - that's quite much indeed... What kind of sessions you have nowadays? How many strength runs (30/60/90) do you do or is it just speed runs after speed runs??
Best regards, Tuomas
wow you really do make you mark as the top spinner but we all know that its time for you to move upon the 17k barrier.
good luck

Only speed runs. I use to do endurance with both hands, so with my left out of order I don't do a lot.

I believe it is doable Ben, but it is sooo hard to get over 16.7k again. It's been more than 3 years now and without my left in full performance it seems impossible. For the time being my aim is to get 16.8k within the next months.
