Hey GD,
I'm what's called a noob aswell, though I'm not sure I like the sound of it!!!! I had the same problem. Stuck on about 10500 for a fortnight. Then just this week, I tried washing my hands just before I used it, and spin it up in my left hand with the open end in my palm, then transfer it to the right hand and goin for gold. I hit 11k, then 12k, within half an hour of each other. I'm now kinda stuck at 12475, but I think it's just practise.
BTW. You might use your hands the other way if you're left handed. Let us know how you go.

For me, the best way I found of improving my scores when I was a relatively 'noob' was endurance. Spin the Powerball pretty fast for as long as you can, (10 minutes to half an hour perhaps), until your arm muscles feel solid from all the lactic acid. Rest for 5 or 10 minutes and then go for some speed runs. You might be surprised.
That method doesn't seem to work for me anymore, (not that I tend to have an hour spare to do such long and tiring endurance...perhaps this weekend...)
Try it though.

I cant do half hour like a few of you, what i do is start it spinning, i do 30 seconds on each arm, then i go to a minute on each arm, then 2 minutes, then 30 seconds on about 5000rpm, then pick it up to about 7000 rpm on each arm, you can feel the lactic acids build up, feels like there on fire, and they will feel weird afterwards, i do this about 4-5 times a day, depending on what im doing, just start on small routines like that, see what works best for you
