View Full Version : Hockey benefits?
Hi there. I was wondering if any hockey players use the Powerball, and if they experienced any improvement in their wrist shot after prolonged use.

Well I used to play hockey.
I would think it'd increase your ability to hold on to the stick and control the puck, but not necessarily increase the power of your shot (don't let it subconsciencly make you grip the stick harder than normal).
I play Ice Hockey, only had my powerball for 2 weeks. After the blisters and the aching went away after the first couple of days i did notice that my snapshot and wrist shot were getting much stronger. Havent really worked on my slapshot.....i never use it as i play Center.
I'll let you know how i get along fella.
Occy.

I got my powerball this january, but only got to use it about 1.5 month before I injured my shoulder in a game. However, even during that short time I definately noticed improvements in my wrist shot. Not so much power or accuracy, but the speed at which I can go from handling the puck to releasing a good shot. Basically I think the quick twiching motion make your hands/wrists "faster", atleast at first. I'm sure with longer use it will improve power aswell since there's no denying it will make your arms and hands stronger. :)
I can't tell you if it helps with slapshot cause mine was so hard to begin with! :D

Not sure if you've realised, but this thread is over a year old:o

Then I guess John should tell us if it improves wristshots and slapshots instead of the other way around! :p

This thread could very well be even older than that!
I think you'll find "User" is used to archive old threads, if you take the time to read some of this "members" threads you'll realise they were ALL posted 24-01-2006.
The member names are usually at the bottom of each post!;) :D :D :D :D
It'd be nice to know how old some of these posts are though!;) :)

We used a very basic message board previously (starting June 2003) and upgraded then in Jan 2006 to the current vBulletin board.
At that stage, we just moved all the posts en-masse to the new board under the account 'user'.
Oh, and that message hit the site originally on 14th April 2005!
Regards
Enda
