View Full Version : how do you spin this damn thing !
had about 20 goes now and i cant do it at all ! so much for easy to use ! stupid thing stop spiiing in amatter of afew seconds!
Are you serious? It's pretty easy, I got 12k on one of my first few runs, unfortunately, I'm nowhere near that now.
What I'm guessing you are doing is shaking the ball from side to side and moving your entire arm. What you want to do is move your WRIST ONLY, as in just spinning your hand. Your arm MUST stay put for you to build any speed up at all. Also, you have to spin your hand in a way that builds up centrifugal force, imagine the powerball is simply a string with a weight on the end, that is how you want to swing it.
ok kinda , takes some reall starting though ! should coe wiht a starter motor !

once you do it - you`ll realize that this is nothing :) and btw - the starting motor is the string :P a lot of people start the ball even without the string - myself included.
Bitch hard on that string! The higher the initial speed, the easier it is to learn the movements of the ball. Practice at low speeds after this though, to help you get the absolute motion. And one thing: DO NOT pull the string at an angle to the power ball. You want to wrap the string round the rotor 2 or 3 times, then pull UPWARDS, i.e. perpendicular to rotor axis, this, although sacrificing *some* speed (I'm talking about 50rpm here), has almost no risk of jamming the cord.

When I first got one I'd roll the string up, whip it out and then watch as the ball slowed to a stop, every single time. Some people get it straight away...I, like you, didn't. But it will come with a bit of practice.
Whenever I start mine now (don't bother with the string anymore), I hold it in my right hand with the spinning rotor facing upwards and the counter pointing towards the ground. If I were to imagine a spoon sticking straight out of the counter then my wrist motion would be as though I was stirring a saucepan of soup or something, around two stirs per second. (Strange concept I know, but it's the best way to describe it.)
Some people shake it from side to side, some do it too quickly, some too slowly. As long as you get the right speed and motiong the Powerball won't knock or slow down, but it'll speed up. Once it gets to around 4000 or 5000 revs you'll notice the sort of scraping noise will disappear and you'll hear the rotor start to whine as it cuts through the air. Just keep the wrist-action going and it'll soon become second nature.

If you have a neon one, a good indication that you are doind it right is that it lights up for a bit. beside that just follow what the others have said and that is to use your wrist and not you arm. My sibling when they first tried it they were just shaking it not actually causing the rotor to turn. But with practice you will get there.
There's a video here (http://www.powerballs.com/powerball_videos.php) which shows you how to start the Powerball yokomo.
Just click on the 'Starting Powerball' link and it will open in a popup window.

Don't see how you can fail to start it with the string its so easy, hand starting is a little trickier.
