i just received my powerball yesterday and someone told me that you need to spin it a certain way or it could be bad for you. should i be rotating my wrist inwards (counterclockwise) or outwards (clockwise) . i was told that the ball should be spinning towards you not away from you. thanks

Hi Jim. In truth, Powerball is a freestyle product and as such, it is encouraged that you use it, within your abilities, in any direction or manner that you feel will exercise your limbs. For example, should you hold it in the regular "arm pointing to the ground" manner and spin clockwise using your left hand, you will be exercising the posterior muscles on the forearm (Extensor digitorum, Extensor carpi ulnaris, Extensor carpi radialis longus etc.)

Should you now reverse and spin in the anticlockwise direction, you will subsequently begin to exercise the Anterior Forearm (Flexor carpi radialis, Palmaris longus, Flexor carpi ulnaris etc.) - so please don't be concerned about the direction or angle in which you are going to use your new purchase...just keep within your own abilities and always remember that it is fundamentally an exercise product and needs to be treated as such (in other words, no mad bursts of speed until your limbs have become fully accustomed to the product!) - regards Rory

Excellent information Rory. See, this is the sort of thing you could put in an exercise manual, showing all the muscles that are exercised with all the particular ways of holding and spinning the Powerball.

I often spin mine, fairly slowly, for hours a day, using several different arm positions and rotating my wrist either way. I've noticed massive improvements in the definition of my arm muscles, but it would be nice to know how to specifically target certain muscle groups.

Like our current government are fond of saying..."lots done, more to do!"

Or...our National Rail carrier..."We're getting there"!

:-)

We have some new people coming on board in the next few weeks and will be working with them to make sure we can bring such added value products to our users going forward.

On this particular point, I will throw the gauntlet out to any animators reading this to get in touch with me personally (rory@powerballs.com) if they reckon they will be capable of creating some animated clips of an arm/wrist going through the different exercises that we would send to them in a video clip...(I know that we could get a design house to do it, but would prefer to contract an animator who actually uses the splendid sphere to do this instead...please respond accordingly, thanks and with kind regards Ror
