i can start the powerball wthout the cord. here is the way to do it. ..hold the powerball in the palm of your right hand. with the 3 fingers of your left hand, give the powerball a fast and hard roll about 2-3 times. Once you have the ball rolling quickly, start spinning your wrist really rapidly. And when i mean rapidly, i mean RAPIDLY. the aim of this is to create enough spin in the powerball. once the ball starts to spin, start to 'stir' your wrist as normal. the other way to recognise if you have done it correct is, if you can see the LED's start to light up you are on your way. I hope that helps. But one thing is that for this technique to work, you must be proficient in starting the powerball with the cord. Well i really hope that helps. N.B. the fingertips of your 3 middle fingers will take a pounding when you are 'slapping' the powerball!!!! BTW my record stands @ 11,635!

You don't need to spin it really fast...

Spin the ball up with a string and then hold it so that the open end is pointing up. Practice spinning as slowly as possible and then speeding up. If you can't get the hang of spinning very slowly and speeding up again, you won't be able to start from the slow flick start.

To flick start- Try flicking it as quick as you can once with your thumb or fingers whilst holding it ball side up. (Place your thumb on the ball and flick - do not try to hit the ball with your thumb)

Then with your arm (or forearm) locked vertically, gently rotate your wrist in as large a circle as possible (the bottom of the ball should almost appear to be facing outwards from the circle you are making.) Don't try to move your arm to the sound of the ball as you will loose concentration - just move your arm and feel the spin. Now all you need to do is build up speed as practiced previously.

I currently have a top score of 11,790 from a flick start.
