HI

I've read in other messages that you say the rotor of the powerball is balanced to produce zero vibrations, even at high speed.

I just purchased an original Blue Neon powerball, and once run up to about 4000 rpm, the powerball seems to rock back and forth if griped between finger and thumb. The vibration/wobble is so great that it is impossible to place the powerball down in its rubber grip on a level surface, is this correct?

Thanks for your time

The 'knocking' youre hearing is because its changing direction, the high speeds they referr to are like 12k... Ive only managed 11.5 myself.

The reason for the vibration could be that you're not holding the powerball firmly while it is spinning and while it is slowing down. This is extremely important. If it is not held tightly then the sphere will resonate in sympathy with the inertia on the rotor and cause wear in the rotor support band, which in turn will shed plastic dust into the inner cavity and cause your Powerball to become rough and noisy.

The vibration could also be caused by wear in the rotor support band where the axle of the rotor sits. This should be a perfectly circular hole and the axle should sit in there firmly with no play. Sometimes this hole can wear if the ball isn't correctly supported during use and cause vibration. The quickest way to sort this is to open the ball (there are instructions on how to do this in the powerballs website) and have a closer look inside.

What Paul says is right, if you don't hold it firmly it will damage it! My holes are now far from round and the vibrations are massive, it won't spin over 10500 rpm. Starting it up by dragging it along a mouse mat doesn't help either, it fills with dirt and subsequet dismantling and cleaning, although impoving temporarily, will only wear it out fatser.

Hi Ace. Please forward your address details and we'll whip you off a new rotor support band which will make the little guy spin as good as new again - regards Rory

Thanks for all the replies.

I watched the Jaco's video clip, and the wobble seen as the powerball spins down is the wobble / vibration I was talking about.

Thanks for the tips on holding the powerball really tight, it has added a few RPM to the poor score that I can achieve.... Now, how can I stop getting blisters on my little finger??????
