Cant get it started?

Hey I just got a powerball techno and I cant seem to get it started up, I've tried about twenty times. Is it possibly I've got a dud one, or is it more likely I've just not been trying to start it right? Anyone else have this prob when they first got it?

Make sure the open end of the powerball where you insert the cord is pointing towards the ceiling ( roof ) and then pull out the cord , it should work , I had the same problem in the beginning
