Hello,

Can you please answer some questions about the "Techno" version:

- can it reach 15,000rpm like the "regular" model? I read there are only 7 LEDs (starting at 6,000rpm) so that would mean they can only represent speeds up to 13,000rpm?

- is the counter easy to read when it displays precisely the highest rpm achieved?

- does it work without any battery at all?

- is the "nb of rotations in 30s" easy to activate?

- what are exactly the differences between what a "regular" speedmeter and the "techno" one allow?

- what are the other words displayed by the techno powerball (apart from the max RPM and nb of rotations)?

I don't know if it can reach 15,000 RPM, because I haven't reached that speed, but its display is able to show speeds above 13,000 RPM's. You don't just see a number of lighted LED's indicating the speed reached, the LED's are cleverly programmed to show RPM in digits, so it says something like "9581 RPM". This is text that's scrolled in the display.

It's not that easy to read the display at first, it has a tendency to rotate, rendering the text unreadable, but you'll get the hang of it after a while.

It works without batteries whatsoever!

To activate the high speed or the avarage number over the last 30 seconds, you have to have the correct instructions. Not all instructions are clear or correct, but I believe the latest batch has correct instructions.

The Techno more or less displays the same information as the regular + speed meter, but as the Techno doesn't use batteries, it's impossible to store your all time high score (or any score at all, for that matter).

Most of the time the Techno is spun up, if the minimum speed that can be classified as high score isn't reached, the text "NEW NSD POWER BALL" is displayed.

I'm glad I'm not the only one trying to figure out how to stop the rotation in order to read the text.

The techno ball can in theory show every number (-9999999... to 99999999...) and letter that exist. The LEDs only need to show a part of the number or letter. Example: the number 1 can be shown as ":" first pass of the LEDs, "|" second pass and "." third pass.

See my other post about how I overcame the rotation. I'm sure I've broken the 11k or even 12k barrier before, but can only muster high 10k speeds now. I could blame it on the blister on my finger :)

questions:
1.what is the minimum rpm displayed ? it seems to display only 8000+ rpm.

2.sometimes (rarely) is no rpm displayed. is there any tips for rpm to be displayed every time ? (like stoping the ball every time?) becouse if i not stop the rotation only the high score is displayed.

3. there is any color code ? something like 3 red lines meens over 8000 rpms.

4.on your faq is mention of an magnetic field. how powerfull is that field ? how can be measured? it is harmfull for the hand ?

The Techno is more of an advanced unit, requiring more patience & a lot of practice (if you're like me) but it is TOTALLY worth it. I still find my blue Neon to be more fun however, because you really don't have to work as hard just to find your scores.. hope that helps! :)
