Be interesting to follow your scores.

I can only hope they become interesting very soon, Pete.

All I need to do is train until my metal scores are around 12000 again (and believe me they will ;) ). At that moment I expect my regular scores to be back to 14000+ too. Anyway, even before that time I'll share with you my progress.

First you will improve your Metal scores, then the plastics??, don't want to train both?. 11.650 is a very nice score for me with Metal. Now I make like 11.300 or so, I lost my 350Hz technique...:(

I think my plastics scores will go up automatically when my metals scores go up. At least this is what happened 2 years ago too.

Anyway, I am pretty convinced that I can easily go above 12000 (I mean, if Adrenaline can do it.... :p :D.....). The only thing I need to be careful with is injury risks like tendons problems. If I can prevent that from happening again I'll break my record soon, I am sure about that.

Have a nice day,

Mmmm..., I have a doubt about you Force... , are you studying now?, you make little session just a few times per month for studys..?, or you are making Powerball normaly?. I'm not sure but I read a few weeks ago a thread saying that you are studying and you will start again in March, or that was not you??? lol :D :p

PS: You had tendons problem in the past?, how much time took you to recovered?, my elbow is not very well now(Powerball), so I think that resting a week it will be ok again...( I hope so)

Yes, I am still studying (my exams are in March 2008). However, even though I am studying I still feel temptation to take up the powerball for a few runs. Especially Sunday is my favorite day to do this. And normally I try to keep one day per weekend free of study. I also need a life you know. But on average I train once a week (since a few weeks).

Yes, i had severe tendon problems with my thumbs. I think I overdid with the metal (sometimes my training sessions took two hours in total). And how long that takes to heal?? Well, in my case very very long (easily more than 6 months). Also, I think that once you have had this problem, you should be more carefully as it may be a permanent weakness, or how do you call that in English.

And over course I cannot look into your elbow. I do not know whether you suffer from tendonitis or something else. What i do know is that you should listen to your body carefully and take any pains very serious. One week of rest may not be enough.

And since today is Sunday...I took up my metal, but a different one than before (I own three normal metals + a golden metal).

Here are the results of today's session:

21 oktober 2007, metal series:
Run Left Right

12 11804 11931***
13 11516 11921

*** best right hand score of the session, new personal record

Soundball (just for fun, because my arms were dead :D )
Run Left Right
1 13376 13196

So, my best left hand score was only 70rpm from my personal record (12047rpm), and
I HAVE IMPROVED MY RIGHT HAND RECORD!!!!!! YAHOO!!!!!! :D :D :D :D
My old right hand record was 11867rpm, btw.

You can imagine that I am filled with joy at the moment. Can't wait until my next session.

Congrats for your Metal Score, your left record is not so far now..., just matter of time;)

My elbow is doing a little clack when I move it..., but I don't think that will take 6 months to recover..., just 10 days or so... ( I hope so)

The Force

Thanks for all nice words guys.

And when I will beat my absolute records with the metal? I don't know...I first need to take time to recover from today's session. I really feel every muscle in my arm and my fingers are hurting still. And another thing is...today i think i reached a hot-mode, which is not necessarily true for every session. But...we'll see.

And about 15 year old boys beating me with powerballing ;) ..well...honestly I do not understand it completely yet, but most likely it is all about my powerball metal technique which is not good. Therefore my scores are not yet above 12k. Without trying to be arrogant, my arms are strong (and they are not thin :D and definitely thicker than arms of some other competitors ranked higher, see the videos on powerballs.com and gyrotek.net).

What I have noticed too is that with the metal it is of utmost important that you are absolutely sure you have 100% grip on the metal before you do your run, or else the metal will try to escape from your hand during the run. This happens to me regularly still. With my right hand I managed better locking-grips than with my left hand. Still my left hand technique is better I think.

Well, enough blabla for the moment :D .

Ok, I did some serious powerballing again with the metal.

Left Right

Balance has never been my problem. But that is purely because I always trained both hands from the very beginning.

Still, it strikes me that my right-handed technique is so extremely different from my left hand technique. For some reason, despite all trials, I do not manage to make both techniques equal. I am very interested to know if other people are struggling with this too. And also what is the general opinion on this, should left and right hand technique be the same or is that not needed?

Personally, I do have a small bias towards equal techniques for both hands. This also beneficial for dual runs.

The Force

The techniques on my hands are similar but not the same:)
Though i think that if you've got the same techinque then you'll surely have an advantage in dual runs;)

This 12105 run was a bit illustrative in that respect. Initially, in the run you will hear that the speed was not that high, but suddenly I managed to shortly synchronise my movements better with the powerball and the score jumped up (above 12k :D ), which you clearly hear in the sound.

2 11877 11569
3 11869 11637
4 11727 11640

Apart from that I made a strange move with my neck during last session and that I now have a sore neck, yes I am on the right track I think. Still I should focus more on plastic too as that increases your muscle speed. Metal merely increases muscle strength I think. And you need both to achieve high plastic scores.

Nevertheless, towards the end my scores started become a bit more crap than rubbish :D :D. So, maybe there is hope.

What I have found out btw is that my " wrist-only" scores and my "wrist+arm" scores are pretty much similar. Expressed differently, somehow I do not seem to get much higher scores while adding my arm movements. And expressed yet differently :D :D :D , I think my arm technique sucks big time.

Pain is not the right word. Dissapointment is. And also I do not understand how it can be that after only 14 weeks (more than 2 years ago) of powerballing I ran easily into 14k+ scores (and felt at that time I could do much more), and now even 13500+ seems exceptional. I can only explain it that my technique has changed towards a worse technique for high speeds. But then how can I solve this problem? Any ideas?

I wish I knew. It took me 4 months to get to 14k and 6 months to get back there. I don't do much different. I can be struggling to get 13k one day then be at 14k 3 days later then back down to 13.5 3 days later. I try new things, rest, don't rest, the long and the short of it is if I get it on a good day I get good scores if not they're crappy. It doesn't seem to relate to anything else. Maybe I should chart my biorhythms, any one know when the moon is rising in Venus next???

Adrena1in
07-12-2007, 10:59
I can only go from my past experience of really struggling, and it was because my technique was bad. I had done so much endurance that I could go at 12k or 13k quite easily, and could sustain that speed, but I couldn't get into "Pulse" mode. My muscles had learned to make circles, and I couldn't stop it.

I know I didn't get to 13.5k that quickly from when I first started Powerballing, (though I put that down partly to the fact the "Community" wasn't very large then, and I didn't have the motivation. But for over a year I couldn't get near 13.5k again. 13.2k was about my limit.

The only way I saw of improving was to change the direction I rotate my wrist. Yes, at first it was dire, and my scores dropped to around 10k. I didn't do 100% reverse-rotation, but I did quite a bit. Slowly my scores improved, and the more I tried it the quicker they improved.

One day the technique started to click. My record was 13069, and in a single session I did something like 13.5k, then 13.7k. Next session I did 13.9k then 14k. Ever since then my scors have continued to rise nicely.

I still spin in my old, original direction when I first start a Powerball, and also if I'm sitting and idly spinning away gently. Plus I can get near 14k in my old direction these days too, (though I've not tried for a long time).

Perhaps a radical change like this might be what you need? :o
