Hello Fellow Powerballers!
I had a Metal session last night. Overall, the results were pretty good.
My old record on the 350Hz Metal Pro was 13296 rpm. I beat this record 4 times during the 2 hour session.
The scores that beat this old record were 13325, 13361, 13360, and a new of 13401!
Throughout the session there were 20 scores above 13K. These were the scores recorded: 13118, 13112, 13143, 13051, 13110, 13032, 13238, 13243, 13090, 13205, 13224, 13237, 13136, 13325, 13401, 13361, 13218, 13360, 13126, 13189. All these scores are listed in the order they were made.
As it usually occurs with the Metal, I began to tired and my scores began to drop off. My fingers came out of the session in good condition. I will take a rest few days and then go again.
I still feel like I can do better still. Til' next time! :)
Keep Spinning All!
Always Powerballing,
Duane Cash
Great advancement :D!
dont give out though, it could be it! :D

Good Luck,
Ron

Thanks, Ron!
I know what you mean about giving up on a session too early before the really big scores, but I'd say that two full hours using mostly the Metal is quite enough for me for this evening. The Metal is quite a "Beast". It deserves respect for its power. ;)
Not to worry, I will do it all over again another day soon. For tonight, I have reach a little closer to my goals, and my Metal is starting to get worked in better now.
I am now in better position to lurch past the group between me and Akis. :D
Thanks again!
Always Powerballing,
Duane Cash
Wow that is amazing Duane!
First of massive congratulations on the new record, 100rpm is a huge leap at those speeds on the metal. But what amazes me most is that you managed 20 scores over 13k in a 2 hour session. That's amazing strength and stamina, also bearing in mind that only 9 other people in the world can get the metal over 13K. When I look at your session like that it is simply phenomenal.
can I ask was the motivation for this session and thread due to Akis' new world record?
good luck in chasing it!
Many Congratulations Duane,:) :) :)
Keep it up and soon scores like this will be a joke for you;)
I think resting for a while after a big session is important so rest and come back faster:D :D :D
And again congratulation:)

Nice one Duane, no more than what I would expect from you. (In fact, quite a bit less than I think you're capable of! If you can regularly hit around 900rpm more than me with the Plastic then I feel you should be 800-900 more than me with the Metal.)
Stick with it and I'm sure you'll see results. Why not try what I did the first time I hit 13k? I'd done lots of Plastic 30s runs where I tried to keep the Powerball at 13k, no more, no less. Then I did lots of Plastic speed runs where I tried to hit 13k. Just so I knew what it felt like and what it sounded like. Then I picked up the Metal and tried to replicate the action exactly, and it only took me four or five attempts to see 13k flashing on the Metal's counter!
Do that with the Plastic, only aim to hold it at nearer 14k, (though perhaps not for 30 seconds - at least for as long as you can), and then see what happens with the Metal.
I predict 13849 on your next session! ;)
The scores that beat this old record were 13325, 13361, 13360, and a new of 13401!
good job!
Jez, u & me r very close now! Cazes is 100 revs away, and Akis is t00 far, as usual :D
I'd love to get back to Metal, but I'm having pain on RH middle finger. It doesn't completely heal.
Moreover, I must save my finger for training my back on gym, which puts a lot of stress on my fingers. One day per week, enough to let pain decrease to an aceptable level, for the following hardcore training :p
So, I haven't used powerball much recently. I tested my LH on monday and did 13.3k (plastic), which is not bad for my pathetic LH.
g00d luck on your 14k-Metal journey, Duane!
regards,
Pako.

Huge congrats Duane, keep em' coming. ;)
Good job Duane.
And you are right about not overdoing it with the metal or else it may punish you! But you can overdo it with the plastic (sustaining hot mode) and give some good full-power metal runs in between.
Well done again (until your next record! :-)
Kind regards
Akis

...can I ask was the motivation for this session and thread due to Akis' new world record?
To answer your question, I have actually been meaning to do sessions like this for some time, but work and other stuff have prevented me from focusing on the Metal too much.
I had been working with the Metal partially in my 250Hz sessions, but the support band on my Metal was in such a bad condition that reaching to 13K was challenge. This was fine for that time period because it allowed me progress under harder conditions until I received a support band replancement.
Now that the support band is getting better worked in, I should start to see some higher scores soon.
Thanks for the comments! :)

Duane Cash

Many Congratulations Duane,:) :) :)
Keep it up and soon scores like this will be a joke for you...
Thanks, ESL.
I hope so too! It's interesting how once I got above my previous mark of 13296 and started to hit the higher scores, it seemed that 13200+ was way easier than before. :)

I predict 13849 on your next session! ;)
Thanks, Tim!
I try to make use of your advice with the Plastic to see how it affects my Metal scores. Perhaps 13849 or so will come fairly soon! :)
Pako - Thanks! I noticed that Jez, you & me were fairly close too. Another reason, I am satisfied for now with the new record. It places me right there with you guys. Cazes happens to be the lone gun in the 13500 range for now.
Armitage - Thanks, I'll keep gunning for the 13,500+. Cazes might need some company soon. ;)
Petermayhew - Thanks, as always, Pete! :) I will keep them coming!
Akis - Thanks a bunch, Champ! I may make use of a sustaining hot-mode with the Plastic to see how it affects my Metal scores. :)
Always Powerballing,
Duane Cash

Hi All,
I had another Metal Powerball session tonight. I didn't quite meet any of Tim's predictions of 13849 (yet), but the scores were decent nonetheless. Maybe next time, Tim! :)
Looking through the Metal scores for tonight, I had a high score of 13346 rpm. I had mostly 13k+ this evening. Only two scores in the beginning of the session fell below 13k.
Here are my Metal scores for tonight in the order they occurred:
12771, 12914, 13022, 13006, 13106, 13076, 13115, 13137, 13244, 13048, 13160, 13346, 13069, 13277, 13296, 13281, 13176, 13200, 13308, 13218, 13042, 13345, 13107, 13201, 13081
25 scores in all. 23 scores above 13k. 3 scores above 13300. I am pleased with the session, and I look forward to my next Metal session.
Keep Spinning! :D

Duane Cash

Nice one Duane, but I have faith in you...and faith in my predictions.
Take Tstering...he was sitting on a record of about 12600, but I knew he could go over 13k, and I kept telling him so. The other night, during a Gyrotek chat, he did 12.7k. I said do more. He did 12.9k. I said do more. He did 13042!! :D
I'm away for a week from tomorrow, but I expect to see 13.7k+ (at least) from you on my return.

I used to be so balanced...LH is awful now really.

Oh...so do I understand it correctly that your left hand isn't the right hand?
So, then all what is left is to train your left, right?  :D :D

 Thats a lot of 13k runs! Great session.
I'm curious to know a few things: First, how much do you do with your left hand in a session like that? I'm talking about percentage of warm-up time on that hand, and the number of speed runs you do as well.
Secondly, approximately how much resting time do you spend on average between speed runs, and do you mix in some short endurace during hot mode?
You have probably already answered these in the past, so thats fine if you'd rather not repeat yourself...
Oh...so do I understand it correctly that your left hand isn't the right hand?

Whoa. I think I get it, but I'm not completely sure. :p

This session was all with the right hand. I warmed up with one 30s run on the 250Hz and then went straight into successive speed runs alternating between the Metal and the 250Hz on after another. I took about only a few seconds in between runs, probably long enough to stop the recording, save the video file and reset the Powerballalyzer and the webcam again.
My first few (three?) attempts with the 250Hz were around 14700 and with the metal they were at 12900, but soon I went above both 15K on the 250Hz and 13K on the Metal. I only did speed runs as this is currently where I want to get some new records. I stayed at this level until I began to tire in my fingers a little, and I decided to stop. I was still above 15k on the plastic and 13k on the Metal when I ended the session.
It was my first session in about a week's time. I have only been doing once a week sessions lately. I am trying to keep my scores above 15k / 13k marks with only one session a week until I am ready to switch to a more rigorous training pattern again. I feel that I should be able to unleash some huge speed gains and along with some other strength and dual records when I get back into the daily training pattern again.
Always Powerballing,
Duane Cash
