View Full Version : Am I gripping this thing wrong?
I got a 250khz unit and am totally addicted. I'm hoping it will, over time, help my RSI.
In the mean time, I have a problem which is limiting how much I can use this thing. The RPM counter, since it sicks out the top, rubs against my palm (near where index finger meets my palm). Its getting irritated and sore and it keeps me from improving much.
Any suggestions? Is there a counter with a lower profile or a better way to grip the unit?
A few suggestions for you...
-Don't grip that counter side. I usually find, for my orientation, that I grip the rotor side with my RH and the counter side with my left hand. I find I get a closer grip by holding the rotor side though.
-Remove the counter. If you're not using the counter, it may be removed to bring your palm closer to the casing. Watch for the rotor, but it should be a high enough profile that it won't hit your hand.
-Further experiment with your grip. Try gripping with the bottom of the palm, the knuckle portion of the palm, try a 3 finger baseball grip, try some different grips to see if any increase your performance.
Good luck!

I always grip with the counter towards my palm, and initially I did get sore patches. In time I grew callouses, and have settled on a grip which is really comfortable, even when used for long periods.
As Jihmmie says though, try it with the rotor towards your palm. (Just don't touch the rotor if you can help it or you could get a friction burn!) :o
Just tried... FRRRICCCTIIOONN BURRNNNNNNNN!
