Hi,
I'm 15 years old (guy) and slightly overweight (weigh 11 stone, not obese, but noticeably fat and trying to lose weight).
I've starting going on a treadmill for the past couple of weeks, and not really lost much weight yet, but I'm sure it will happen over a longer period of time.
I was wondering how using a powerball could benefit me? Would it burn fat on my arms (or elsewhere?), and then build muscle (that would be noticeable? Right now all I have is flab, no muscle).
Thanks very much..

Hi there.
At first, when you're learning how to use a Powerball, you're mostly really only going to use your arms. Your muscles will start to hurt quite quickly as they get used to the action. But in time, when your muscles adjust, you'll be able to spin the Powerball for much longer, and you'll start to put your cardio-vascular system to good use - getting out of breath, sweating all over.
I've been Powerballing for years, and am at the stage where I could have a very vigourous Powerball session, lasting several hours, and my arms and hands won't hurt at all, but I'll feel wasted afterwards, like I've run several miles.
I have also noticed quite a large improvement in the muscular definition of my arms and shoulders. Not muscle bulk as such, just a toning of what I already had really.
All in all I would definitely recommend a Powerball or two, as they're great fun in many ways, but for weight-loss I would probably think you'd be better off with a specific diet and carry on with the running, or perhaps cycling.
(And 11 stone is hardly big!) :)

Thanks for taking the time to write that. Why do people buy so many? Don't they all do the same thing?
So what benefits could I notice? Would it actually burn fat on my arms at least?

Mostly why people buy so many is that they are addicted. :D But there are only two strakly contrasting models one is the 250Hz Pro and the other is the 350Hz Metal. The 250Hz powerballs are much lighter and easier to spin then the 350Hz powerballs. Thats why most people start with the lighter ones first then if they get the hang of it or find it easy they usually go on to the more heavier 350Hz Metal model.
The main benefits you could notice is slight increase in the size of your forearms and biceps-triceps. But mostly the powerball will tone your arms up, the 'flabby' parts of your arms will gradually tone up and become more tight instead of being loose flab.
And I'm 15 and weight 9.5 Stone +- and I imagine I will be near 11 stone when I'm more into my age. (As I have only turned 15 2 months ago).
But the powerball won't lose you too much weight as you at a young age and still growing etc. But it will tone your arms. :)

Okay thanks to both of you, really helps. :)
It won't just burn fat in your arms that is just a MYTH see wiki for more info- but it doesn't matter what you exercise it won't just make that place lose fat- it does not work like that. You lose fat as a whole. This is opposed to getting muscles as it does depend on what you muscles you train. So if you ask me it is a good idea to start power balling as you will be using excess energy and eventually burning off fat.
Also 11 stone can be big. It all depends on your height and the amount you weigh.
Just wondered... how many Kg is a stone:confused:
