Yay, I got my ball today, after a few hours my current "high" score is:
10,307
Its high for me anyways!
Ill keep you posted!
tyson
High Score: 10,467
Plus I managed to start with the flick technique - I cant do it holding the PB in my right hand and flicking with my left. However flicking with my right hand, and spinning the ball up in my left then passing carefully to my right seems easier, i achieved this score while "practising" the flick start without too much effort (after getting the ball up to 9k or so in my left hand). hopefully be up past 11k by tomorrow night.
I think the powerball itself is addictive, but add to that the forums and "scoring" makes it truly addictive, it makes it a communal activity and definitely increases motivation to play.

Great work, a very good starting score.
I'm the same in flicking with my RH and spinning with my Left to get it going.
Also nearly all the top powerballers will speed it up with their weaker hand and then pass the ball to their faster hand, I certainly do. My scores always end up being a good 3-4oorpm slower if i don't use this technique.

Thanks lol :d
I just got 11,487! I'm getting there!
hi and welcome, ive seen your scores and theyr quite excellent for starters, if you have hard time to have higher scores then rest out its always help you'll soon pass me and thats quite ironic, see, im using it for about 3 months and the highest i got is listed at my top scores below.. soon i hope my aunt will purchase new but basic version of the ball, i belive ill go much higher then i got on my techno, keep your work and dont put alot work on each day, so your hands wont hurt much as first timers are used to do... they put alot of effort during theyr first time and usually get theyr hands very fragile, after a week start working for endurance, so your muscles well also become more acclimitized to the ball, i suggest when doing it, use it on each hand untill your speed drops for about 5k (after alot of pain that you feel is under your hand) this thing will get you the max exercise and results of your forearms buffed up.
Also, i advice always to use stuff for your hand such as dish soap (the greeny thing :) ) and after youre done dry it out with low temp airconditioner blows thats the way to get the max grip of the ball although dont berserk with it so your skin wont rip appart, first get 2-3 days used to it then go high as you like.
Good luck with your sessions,
Ron

I am finding if I do a speed run and play around with the ball (keeping it going, just at a slow enough speed that my wrist is still relaxing), then give it everything I can after about 30 minutes of that I progress at around 1k RPM per day.
:P at this rate Akis you better watch out around mid next week mate :P.
In all seriousness though I wont stop till I am at least IN the top 100, regardless of actual position!
I'm thinking about purchasing a 250hz Pro for this reason...I love messing around with my neon..but perhaps I need a pro for record purposes. I will see how things progress in the next few days.
From now on if I am the most recent poster I will merely edit my previous post with my new score, to save double posting.
My new record: 12,457.

Gave my ball a clean today. I followed the instructions on this site and it all went extremely smoothly. Checked for wear/cracks while it was open and I am happy to say its all still looking good.
There was a LOT of dust in there. Perhaps its like a car engine, when you run it in you need to give it a clean out after the first 1000 ks to get rid of the worn metal and stuff...
After I put it back together and carefully spun it up (To make sure if I did anything wrong I would know at low speed rather than fast), I was surprised to get a new high speed from the test run! It also felt a lot smoother and sounded better!
I'm now on: 12,825.
I will give it a proper speed run after I warm up with a few strength runs and see if i cant get over 13k today!
Tyson.
P.S. I'm assuming the threads in this section are pretty much to be used as our personal diaries...so mind the double posts, I realized if I edit each time I will have a post that scrolls 3 pages long. If this is considered spam let me know asap I'm not doing it intentionally :P.

Yo Ty,
I would like to know how much you weight and if you're doing other exercises instead of powerballing...
im amazed that you've beaten those scores that easily, youve beaten mine too :),
another tip:dont stop the powerball on any surface that you think is good enough to slow it down, like me, ive stopped my pball on sofa and it got filled with dust from it, just let it down easily or hold it hard so it will spin inside and gradually loose speed, you might catch up with the top 100 but youll have to know that catching up with 13k and above is quite hard, most people here fight theyr way to the top, i hope youll be one too.
Kindest regards,
Ron.

Ron,
I am not sure of weight - I started a diet one month ago and was advised not to look at scales as it usually doesn't help (if you aren't losing weight fast enough it depresses you, not good).
However I am going in for appointment tomorrow for weight/ blood pressure etc so I will advise then!
I was previously (at start of diet) 160 Kilos, I am 6 foot 5 (or approx 2 meters tall) and I have a fairly big shoulder span.
As far as wrist strength, I ride a super sports motorbike, (Kawasaki Ninja) and due to the fact I am too tall for the wind shield the wind pushes on me a lot...that would help my wrist strength as I hold on.
I used to play ice hockey, that would help with the wrist movements/technique.
I also enjoy 10 pin bowling, which would assist with wrist strength :P.
I have wanted a powerball for like..3 years! But up until recently I couldn't find them anywhere. Then I decided to buy one from E-Bay (brand new, Buy it now). Then in the confirmation email I got it had this website listed as warranty and such, and from now on I will only buy from here.
I want to get a 250hz Pro, but I am in between jobs at the moment, and theres little to no work available in Adelaide right now :(.
tyson
wow thats mean youre must be older then me... im 17 but also im not high weight also... im 48.5kg.. about a qu of your old weight... well im not doing any body exercises too thats also why you nailed those scores pretty fast :D I belive that the weights my sister is willing to buy me will add much to my strenght and endurance.. im not sure which ones she should buy.. prehaps 15kg's ones?
P.S:
I must say that loosing weight too much isnt a good way to put on a diet.. two days ago a 15yearold from my country died for it.... he took the diet way more extreme then it was supposed to be...
so take it easy, do the diet in your pace, the diet lasts for however your willing it to last,
keep pballing and goodluck,
Ron

I am 21, almost 22.
Yes I agree, theres no need to be silly with diets and overdo them.
:P
Everyone wish me luck..I don't intend on stopping tonight till I get over 13k.

To be honest with you, weight and strength aren't really major factors here. I've seen or heard of body builders struggling to get 12k, yet take a look at Thomas Guicheteau, a 15k Powerballer, and see how slim he is.
But that's not taking away from the fact that Prot3us1 is WAY above average for his scores. I hit 12k after a week or two, but it took a couple of months for me to get to 12.8k. Then another 5 or 6 months to hit 13.2k. Then years before 14k arrived. :o

Hehe thanks...I think I am just determined to get my name on that scoreboard!
And hopefully one day score myself a free ball and pouch!
I just wish there was some way of using stomach muscles in such a fun way!
If that were the case, everyone would have rock hard abs!

Hi Prot3us1, those are very good scores to start! You are doing great! It took me 5 days to reach 12,835 rpm when I first started Powerballing.
Keep spinning but don't overdo it too soon are it will take weeks to recover.
I have been Powerballing since September 10, 2006 and I've only managed to get to 15,654 rpm. Still trying to improve so I can go higher. I still consider myself new to the sport. ;)
I'm sure that if you remain "determined" to get your name on the Top 100 scoreboard, then you will. Sooner or later, you will also score yourself the free Powerball and pouch. Nothing can hold back a determined mind.
When I started Powerballing, my main goal was to get to 14k. Things have changed a lot.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Powerballing, Tyson! I'll be looking forward to watching your progress in the near future. Be sure to read some of the previous posts on the forum too. You will find some of the greatest advice for achieving a top-notch score.
Always Powerballing,

Thank you :D. I think right now i need to do lots of 90s strength runs as I need to get the technique right for those higher speeds...The really small wrist movements and stuff..I'm sure I will crack 13k in the next few days! Then I am almost on the scoreboard (div. 2).
Then its a matter of time and determination :P. For now I am really working the strength runs till I almost cry from the pain.
I have done some weight training before, and I must say this is completely different..Its not the same kind of pain..its really more of a gentle numbness followed by your arm refusing to work any longer :P.
I just want you guys to know I appreciate the welcome and advice! I have visited the chatroom a few times but nobody seems to be in there..I would really love to chat to some of you guys live!
Once again feel free to add me to MSN Messenger anyone.

Keep going with the Good work. Will be nice to see some Aussies moving up the scoreboard:D

It certainly is a thrill when you finally get enough to get on the scoreboard. The annoying part is if you take a while to get there the score keeps getting higher and higher lol. Well done on 13k
congrats for ur 13k XD
im still stuck behind the 11k :( lost my hands, have to let em recover, new models are way stiffer then the old ones
