View Full Version : Cordless start - who can do it?
I have my pb for over a month now, starting to focus on strength, endurance now... but that's not what this thread's about.
Who can start the pball without the cord? Eg, with your thumb. I want to see how many people can do it :)
I had to practice a lot - at least 30-40 times, but after a while it just works. No more need for the cord, unless my thumbs hurt. I might be stuck at 11.7k now, but it means a lot to me to be able to perform the startup perfectly without the need of .. :)

As soon as I got my Powerball the first thing I did was learn how to start it by hand because the string is a PITA
James
Yep, no problem. Used the cord a few times, then by running my hand down the gyro. Now I can start with my thumb, but not with the same hand as the Powerball is in- yet!!

My cousin gave me his old one, and he didn't have a cord, so i HAD to learn to do it without the string, and after i saw Akis do the one-handed start i immediately learned to do that too. :)

24h after getting my Techno, I'm able to start it with the thumb. I'm still trying to do the same when holding the ball with the left hand
Olly
I started mine spinning with my thumb about 1 week after I got mine. I've never tried the one handed tecnique sounds neat!=}

I use the double finger technique. I never use the cord now. its just a liability, as ive got the cord stuck in the motor a few times.

Some times i can start it with one hand :).
I use both hands normaly
I'm struggling like mad with my Neon Blue Pro :S Almost manage to get it going but fall at the last hurdle. What kind of speeds are people getting up to with the finger flick before getting it going?

me too 800 to 1000

yep......learned it in like the first 30 minutes of powerballing
it's great, saves time rolling the cord in and pulling it and hoping it won't get jammed or lost

I can do it easily enough now, but often use the string anyway.

Got the thumb start after 20 min after i read the instruction on this site...
Can do one handed start easily and somtimes i can start one in each hand simultansiously;) Got to work more on that:p
With one hand i can get it up too 1400 - 1500 and with thumb thecnique i can get it up to 1700, but to get it started i need around 1000...

Five years of powerball here and I've never managed to start it without the string.

I think I'd been using it for about 3 days before I taught myself how to start it without the cord. I start it with one hand now. That took a bit more practice.

I can start it with 2 hands. What I do is:
1. Hold the PB in my right hand (exposed part facing upwards.
2. Make sure that the groove/line is parallel to my shoulders.
3. Use my left thumb to spin the ball from right to left. The spin is doing aroudn 750rpm.
4. I start spinning the PB anti-clockwise (if looking from my elbow).
The thumb flick is quite difficult, and I haven't mastered it yet. It's hard for me to flick my thum quickly.
Start with thumg is easy..You´ll lern it in a time..but in one hand it impossible for me...

The only problem with the one hand flick start, is some times the ball goes flying!!! :(

Spooky...I wasn't doing a one-handed start, but I dropped my Siggy after about 10 minutes! It was on my lap and jumped off onto the floor! Not much damange fortunately, but oooh, I was cross with myself!!
Well done for all of you guy's that you can do it. I was testing my ball yesterday and I can get a speed above 1500 RPM but still nothing.
Is something wrong with my ball?
try spinning it different directions once youve flicked it (to find the right one), or hold it at a different angle when flicking it, thats what i did, and i can pretty much do it every time now.
Just keep trying, you'll find the right angle and direction that works for you.
My college at work have ********* gyro and he show me how he is starting the gyro, simple by stirring the gyro across his leg, didn't work then I tried visiting ********* site and there is cool technique how can you start the gyro without the problem simple by holding the PB in one hand and striking it with another couple of time. Here is the link to videos:

I hope there is nothing wrong with starting the NSD Powerballs like that?
Any suggestion?
Edit: Link removed.
***** **** , ***?

...it's better to delete a message i think than keeping it full of stars from everywhere....
Too bad guys but no link to videos due to restriction on NSD forum.
No competiton on this forum!
Good luck!
BTW
<removed> is little smaller than NSD and I think you can't reach the speed above 13K, but is also cheaper than NSD.
<removed> is first gyro on market or NSD was first in the market?
What was before chicken or egg?
Edit: You know the rules Jack. Please abide by them.
It's an issue for free talk on a commercial forum... :( people just have to ignore that other shops exist...
The important issue here is that there's nothing wrong with starting up a gyro by striking it repeatedly with your hand to get it going instead of a single flick with a finger, I've done it, it works, I prefer the thumb flick myself and thumb flick is the only way to do the one handed start.
When you own a site, you can decide what goes on there, I don't see a problem. Most of the people here can figure out what the link really is anyways =)

**na-**ex gyro is first gyro on market or NSD was first in the market?

My gues is that ****-**** was first on the market...
Well doesn't matter the only thing that matter is that PB is really cure for those who have any medical problems with arms especially with wrist like tendonitis and yes after all it's all about money! Even if you guys weren’t first on the market you have much better product now!
I still can't do flick start, but striking the ball 5-6 times works just fine also.
I was checking yesterday till which point there is no back for example if you spin the ball to 5-6k and then just hold the ball in your hand with counter facing up then just try to spin it again. My no back turning point is around 1500 RPM if it falls below that I just can't make it spin it again and after that I tried to break my best score and wow now I am at 11500.
Maybe there is nothing wrong with my PB will see!
My gues is that ****-**** was first on the market...
