What are the actual, clinically tested, benefits of Powerball?
There's lots of anecdotal claims, but where is the research that tests these out? Where are the write ups in medical journals?
...I cannot answer your question, but many atime have doctors said for trapped nerves, just to do some exercise, and its mended all!
Even if powerball only affects the mind it helps!
I have difficulty pulling the clutch lever on my bike every now and again, but since powerballing, it still lets me pull the lever! rather than having to hit the kill switch and stop the bike.
just buy one, use it for a couple weeks and I'm sure you won't be needing any medical journals to convince you that it offers many benefits ;)
And if you aren't convinced of the balls beneficial effects I am certain RPM will live up to their unconditional money back guarantee. :)

So, 'none' then?
To my knowledge the powerball have only been tested for speed reasons and not medical.
But why would you need a medical journal and have it clinically tested? To prove that it helps medically? There's lots of evidence that this product helps medically, toning, strength, endurance etc.

Some testimonials...
"I am a professional guitarist who has sufferd from tendonitis and this is the best thing that I could have ever bought. Not only is my wrist stronger than ever, it has given my arms the strength needed for intense scale practicing."
"my new powerball is amazing, i have broken my right wrist twice and it is extremely thin, i have been using powerball for about 2 weeks for an hour a day and the results are amazing, my arms have become 30% bigger,"
"WOW!! My Dad has suffered from serious RSI and arthritis as well know in his 60s. His wrist motion was starting to lock and using this twice (YES TWICE) in 1 weekend for a few minutes has improved his wrist range of motion !!! As for me, my wrists are getting stronger by the day...SUPERB"
"i recently broke my arm playing rugby and after having the casdt removed i bought a powerball. It is the best thing in the world: my arm now has full movement and is stronger than ever by using it just 5 minutes a day."

In my opinion it's quite moving and successful.
You can call them anecdotal claims but in my opinion Medical evidence is right here.

Well, the packaging claims all kind of medical benefits, including 'rehabilitation' for CTS, RSI, and arthritis.
Has asking this question touched a nerve here? Are we banned from questioning the veracity of the claims that Powerball makes?

I respect you for asking this question as it has not be put forward before. :)
I just merely presented you with evidence to suggest many benefits of using the powerball as a rehabilitation device.
These 'claims' are factual just not documented in the majority of peoples cases. At the end of the day it's a ball that you spin in your hand, it's not going to change your life completely just help you in various situations.
To be honest I haven't got the knowledge to answer if there's any medical records or reports, You'll have to wait for Enda, Rory, Phillip or Physioblue to answer and confirm the authenticity of these claims.

The veracity of claims!
I'm not claiming I KNOW because I have used my powerballs to compliment my rehab post open Bankart repair on my left shoulder, you want that I should go through the whole ordeal again without the aid of powerball just to prove it's benefits.
Your posting has all the hallmarks of a deliberately provocative trolling! It's not big and it's definitely not clever!;) :D
I imagine you're just about coming to terms with the heliocentric system!:D :D
What are the actual, clinically tested, benefits of Powerball?
Good evening Katy,
Welcome to the forum.
The Powerball has been proven to be of immense benefit in both the treatment and prevention of many injuries or conditions such as Carpal Tunnel or RSI. We have a huge number of very happy users who have testified to the marked results they have seen from their use of Powerball to treat injuries, in some cases it has been found to be the only 'treatment' which has been of benefit, where other, more traditional forms of treatment have been unsuccessful.
We have a large number of physiotherapists, chiropractors, physical and occupational therapists who actively use the Powerball in their daily practice in the treatment of their patients - you may find this (http://www.powerballs.com/medical.html) page to be of interest.
A study was undertaken by students of the University of Hull in England over the past year in an effort to document the results (or lack of) seen by a number of subjects. This is currently being written up and we are expecting to have a final draft in the coming weeks.
This will be made available on our site once we receive it.
In the mean-time Katy, perhaps you might elaborate a little more on your own background, and your reason for asking the question - if you have suffered an injury or would simply like more information on Powerball's use for a specific treatment please let us know and we will of course as always be happy to assist where possible.
With kind regards
Enda

Thank you Enda. That's what I was looking for. I'd be interested in seeing the University Of Hull study when its completed.
I asked because a friend recommended Powerball and pointed at all the claimed benefits on the side of the pack. Now some people would instantly accept those at face value without question. I don't.
If someone makes a claim - especially a medical claim - I ask 'says who?' 'how do I know this is true and not just hype?' Autolupus thinks I'm trolling just because I'm asking questions.
Because it MUST be true if lots of people I've never heard of say so, mustn't it? I'm sure I can find lots of people I've never heard of who'll assure me that Scientology or homoeopathy or crystal healing will be just as good, and I'm sure lots of them will have letters after their names too.

Woo Hoo - Internet fame, at last!!!!:D
I look forward with interest to the results of the trial, but I think you are right Katy, there are no REAL trials published as yet.
Having said that, case studies are considered a form of research in their own right, and while it is accepted that they are not scientific, they can be quoted as a way in which one person solved a problem.
NSD are quite within their rights to quote rehabilitation benefits based on the number of positive "case studies" they have received.
Its funny that so many of the things we use in a physio department are "unproved" by research (and this is being addressed) , but we use them anyway.
When the theory is sound, we use things while we wait for the benefits to be proven.
The theory behind the powerballs rehab benefits are sound, so I will continue to recommend them when I think they are appropriate.
And I will continue to use one, even if it doesn't get proven to be beneficial - cos they're fun!!

I wish I could reply but for 'some' reason my posts aren't appearing - perhaps the mods don't like the idea of someone questioning powerball's claims ;)

Hey, it's working now :)
The missing posts basically said:
- thanks Enda
- don't be so uptight Autolupus
- what's wrong with questioning the claims of people I've never heard of, even if they have got letters against their names?
I'll get one and see how I get on

Don't forget to submit your scores when you get pro!

Katy, all posts from new members which include images or links are automatoically placed in a moderated queue.
I had to implement this to prevent SPAM from coming through for members.
I approved both of your previous posts, but will remove the second duplicate.
Also, I'm happy that you've decided to purchase a Powerball Katy - remember, if you purchase from this site, and are unhappy at any stage please send me an email (enda@powerballs.com) and you need only return the Powerball for a refund as part of our guarantee.
Of course, we would also be very interested in seeing your progress with the Powerball and any feedback you might have for us in due course.
Enda

Can't believe you included my drunken post about using it as a torch. Lol!
It is great though. No medical journals I'm afraid, the only evidence at the mo is walking round on two legs. :D

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask where the proof of the claims is. I've even got friends who think Powerballs are just a gimmick to make people look silly, without actually have any proper rehabilitative affects on RSI and CTS and stuff like that.
I can only echo what others have said, and that in my experience, and as a 36-year old, my arms have never been in such good shape, in appearance and strength and lack of any sort of pain or discomfort, and I used to suffer from tennis elbow and mild RSI. :)
What I tell friends who think its silly...
It says it on the Gyrotek site "It was created a few years ago by the NASA engineers to train astronauts in space"
Only thing I wonder is if you can get better scores in zeroG, I will remember to ask one of them if they have a powerball next time I link up.
(Im a RadioOP using the ISS frequencies is very easy to talk to Astronauts onboard)(agn they are usually busy and/or talking to school students only!)

Well... could be helpful in old age. At night when your trying to find your pills you've forgotten to take you give the neon a little spin and be guided to the pill cupboard. ;):D
