View Full Version : Frost'y Scores
Hello.
Thought it was time to upload some of my scores for you to look at. I love recording my scores because I love to see myself improve. Hope you enjoy looking at them and maybe you could give me some tips by studying them?
Speed
LH: 13507
RH: 12819
Strength 30
BH: 5962
Strength 60
BH: 10516
Strength 90
BH: 15457
As you can see, i'm not got much going my way with endurance, but i'm working on it. I bought myself a metal ball earlier from this website, so I hope that'll be in the post for me soon!
But speed, i seem to find myself improving on this every time I have a serious session. I find i need to just keep the ball spinning around 7k-8k for 30-40 minutes and then give things a shot after that for a good result.
I have a spreadsheet with all my attempts at all my records so far, if you would like to see extracts from that i'm happy to post them.

Very nice speed scores there Frosty.
If you get a little better at endurance you will see them scores shoot up in no time. As I've always mentioned endurance is the key to a warm up and a warm up is key for a speed record.

Endurance is the key to speed as well. So to pretty much sum it up.... do lots of endurance! ;)
Great scores overall, the speed runs are impressive.

Nice scores there, Frosty! Impressive speeds there. Why don't you post the whole spreadsheet on something like www.filefront.com (http://www.filefront.com) ? I'm a bit of a spreadsheet fan myself so I'd love to see the whole thing.
Wehey!!!!! new high score in a hot mode
LH: 13634
Watch out peter, i'm after your score on the under 20's scoreboard :D.
To Jammy, i'll try and put my spreadsheet on that website for you and then post back. I'm not very techy so we'll see how it goes.

Nice  How old are you??
haha I only just scrape in at 19, so even if I did beat it, i't wouldnt be for long - plus I probably wouldnt upload it as I already feel too old for an under 20's scoreboard. Althoghhhhh I could have a couple of months of glory :P
Your amazing peter, can't believe you can get such high score at 14!! Really is incredible. And your endurance is leaps and bounds in front of mine, really envy that.

Thanks for the nice words. I really envy people too all the 14ker's :p. Endurance is my strong point really but it's worth checking out Installed's scores thread for any techniques videos of 90s - 30s runs and watching him on his 90s runs  He's only 15 and can get 18800 :o
Enough about me and you have some very respectable scores. I wouldn't be surprised if you made leaps and bounds from here on in
Pete :)

What name does Installed go under on the Leaderboard? I'd like to check them out. I really am hopeless at endurance.

It looks really impressive. Thanks for posting it.
Just one quick question. How do you manage to shade the speed cells blue so that it shows it's precentage of your top speed?

We'll you see more than me at the moment. I think thats something to do with Office 2007. I have that on my laptop but I only have 2003 on my desktop computer.
Seeing as i made the spreadsheet on 2007, then converted it to 2003 there could still be things in it i completely forgot about. But it sounds like something called "Conditional Formatting". In 2007, its very simple to do, just highlight the cells you want to have the blue percentage bars and on the "Home" tab theres an option called "Conditional Formatting" - there are many types of automatic formattings to choose from.

Yes, you are right, Office 2007 is the culprit. Pretty nifty display function. I bought the book, of course, to learn all the new features, but, as always, it is pretty tough to get going with it...:D
......I bought the book, of course, to learn all the new features.....
Meh, call yourself a man?
First thing a 'proper' man does is throw the instructions away, play with it till it breaks or get so frustrated he throws it up the wall and goes out and buys another one.
:p;):D

Why do you think I have not opened that book yet... It's just for show... the Excel 2003 one has been on the shelf for 2 years and I can proudly say that I have never opened it... Very clever...
Update on my scores. I've been concentrating on endurance for a few days.
New 30s Record - 6113
New 60s Record - 11310New 90s Record - 15904 (really want to hit 16000 soon)
Just got my Metal Powerball through the post :D :D :D .
11637 is the fastest i can get with that so far. Lovely piece of kit that metal ball, makes my other powerballs feel like they're made of recycled drink bottles and stickyback plastic.
30s Record with metal - 5025
90s Record with metal - 12802

Those really are very good Metal scores. When my 250Hz speed score was around 13500 I found it very difficult to get over 11500 with the Metal. You're pretty much hitting 12000 already!
You're a force to be reckoned with I feel! ;)

Yep that 12K is definitely a good goal to go for! Keep at it and it will definitely come. :)

Man someone is in a hurry those scores are dam impressive. Get some endurance happening and they will go through the roof Well done
Just looked at the spread sheet. Save me some time and let me know if you can graph your scores at all?
The spreadsheet is outdated now, ill try and keep you updated with graphs. Although i did try and upload pictures once before, and my post never appeared - even to this day.
Anyway...attempt at uploading graphs:

Cool. Wish I'd logged all my scores, including the downs as well as the ups, right from when I started. :o
Very nice. Good, steady improvement.
Just broke 4 Endurance runs in 1 sitting :p. Got into a real good hot mode.
250Hz
60s Endurance - 11310
90s Endurance - 16113 (yay beat my goal!)
350Hz
30s Endurance - 5203
90s Endurance - 13235
Still nothing special compared to some of you folks endurance runs but i'm not much of an endurance person....i'm working on it.

Very interesting graphs.
One wonder if someone recorded their Hot Mode score for score and graphed it like that it will show the improvement curve you have when building up to your 'hottest' point.

This is the first time I've seen your thread, and I'm impressed! You're really off to an amazing, way-above average start on both the 250hz and the 350hz. I'd say there are big things in store for you in the future. About Pete's advice to watch my videos for tips on technique, I think you should watch videos of the real masters instead. My (one handed) technique isn't exactly the best.

Wow, nioce scores and love those graphs. Same as Installed i not noticed your threads before, but i think you are going to be a one of the top performers in a few months time.
Just thought i'd mention I just broke 13k with my right hand now too.
RH:13042
LH:13634
Spent the most of 2 hours trying to beat all of my other records last night but just couldnt get any of them :o - i was absolutely knackered by the end of that session. Maybe had an off day.

Still nothing special compared to some of you folks endurance runs but i'm not much of an endurance person....i'm working on it.
I've seen quite a few people scoring big on speed very early on in their Powerball "careers", but I've never seen anyone instantly blast out good endurance scores. They do require more practice in general.
Rostislav Kolchin is perhaps the exception, but his endurance runs are using the "Edouard Technique", which is more about speed than endurance anyway. (Still requires good endurance, don't get me wrong.)
I'll echo what others say though...you are doing really well. :)
Good going Frosty.
Expect to see you leaping up the scoreboards before too long.
;):D
Just thought i'd leave a quick update, as i havnt been on in a long time.
I've managed to break the rotor on both of my plastic powerballs (signature and blue neon pro) so i've solely been using the metal for the past week or 2. I don't know what to do, as i've already had a replacement rotor for both of these powerballs before - i'd feel guilty asking for more!
Not been using it that much, as it gives blisters pretty quick with it being so slippery.
Only managed new endurance high scores with the metal....still cant beat my speed high score from the first day i had it of 11993. Got within 300 of it at one point, but it seems to start slipping from my hands.
I managed to get these endurance score with the metal though:
30s - 5291
60s - 9843
90s - 14295
Still nothing special....but i'm no endurance specialist.
Considering your pretty much a n00b at powerballing those are shockingly good scores on metal.:eek:
You got me beat on the metal enduro front. And, although my highest speed is 12491, I've been struggling to get close to 12k myself lately.
Awesome stuff Frosty, keep it up.
;):D
No idea how, but i just managed to bead my high score with a broken powerball.
I've been using the metal for about 3 weeks now and not touched my 2 broken plastic ones. But after a 25 min run with the metal i thought i'd just give it a quick go.
It felt SOO light and even though it was vibrating like hell and sounded like a vacuum cleaner that just sucked up a penny i got a few more RPM on my score.
I really do feel - if the ball wasnt broken i would have been close to 14k. It felt amazingly fast compared to normal. Going from the metal to the 250Hz is amazing!
previous score 13634
new score 13693
Not a big jump, but i'm sure it would have been.
Do the repairs place replace rotors more than once? As both the balls have had a replacement before. I hope they do, as i cant keep buying new powerballs  (even though i just ordered yet ANOTHER ball).

Another update.
Got my new 250Hz powerball today (still dont have the guts to ask for replacement rotor parts for my 2 broken ones.)
Not been at it long, but i've broken a few records already :D
250Hz
Speed: 13693 changed to 13775
Endurance 90: 16113 changed to 16247
350Hz
Speed: 11993 changed to 12052 THEN! 12109 :D :D :D (very proud of this one!)
I can see some more records coming later today....i'll keep you posted.
You'll also be pleased to know i have a web-cam on order (also has a camera function I think) so you can see me doing my silly dances around the room sooner or later  .

Note to Admin: I've noticed i've actually made a typo on the name of this thread. It says "Frost'y Scores" when it's supposed to say "Frosty's Scores". I've tried to change it but had no success, just wondered if it was possible? Thanks!
Well done, 12k+ on metal is an awesome achievement.
Keep at it and I'm sure you'll be over 14k and troubling the top100 soon.

Couple of new scores since yesterday:
250Hz Speed 13775 changed to 13817
250Hz Endurance 30s. 6113 changed to 6132 (not much of a jump but, every little bits an improvement)
I'll update my graphs later today.

:p:p;):D
Well done BTW :)
I was thinking the same thing. I'm busting a gut this guy looks like he is out for a stroll in the park:D
Been AGES since i've got posted on here. I kind of lost interest in my powerballs for a little while but it seems i'm getting back into them again now with a couple of good spins today.
250Hz Speed
14161, 14247, 14226, 14131, 14066.
In the process of uploading thr 14247 video to youtube as i type this. Not sure if it's even worth submitting the new record to the top100 as it only moves me up 2 places. :o But i guess every rpm is an improvement.
250Hz Endurance
Nearly hit my target of 17K for 90s today with a new record of 16942 still nothing special, but im still trying to build up some long awaited stamina.
Dual
I've not really attempted a dual before, because i have big problems starting 2 balls. But i did manage a reasonable score of:
LH: 13283 RH:13228 = 26511 (also breaking my right hand speed record in the process)
Anyway, i always end up making long, drawn out, and boring posts. I'll stop now.

I just happened upon your 14.2k video on Youtube. Have you got any recent progress to report?
Nothing much to report on unfortunately. Couple more 14k's, but nothing more than 14092.
I appear to be getting more stamina, i'm now persistantly breaking 16.5k on 90s endurance. And getting sooo close to my 17K target with a 16942.
I have been making progress with the metal though. I finally managed to break the speed record I got on that from the first day i had it. I managed 12124 but unfortunatly it wasnt on video, only got a picture of it. I think this record was more brute force than any decent teqnique becuase watching some of my metal videos back my arm appears to be flying all over the place rather than being neat a tidy by my side.
Still spinning though, thanks for asking how its going Installed :).
Take care
