I get massive pain in my fingers of my left hand where the X's are. It comes from holding the ball rotor in on my left hand and it digs into the edge of the ball.http://s171.photobucket.com/albums/u315/rob2andy/th_Image062.jpg

Does anyone else get this?
Any ideas for preventing or helping it other than:
Changing the way I hold the ball
Using the ball less. Cause the ain't going to happen:(

Do you hold the ball with the rotor facing towards your palm or the counter towards your palm? Think you'll haveto try holding it differently.

Has this only happened recently?

Sorry i didn't make that clear i hold it rotor facing the palm and the relatively sharper edge digs in. I can't change the way i hold I 90's that way and i can't kepp spinning it around

been going for about 3 months

I can't hold it that way without the rotor touching my hand occasionally.

Can you not move it around only slightly so it doesn't put pressure in the same place?

I would agree with this - by adjusting your grip, even very slightly you will be surprised at how much of a difference it can make.

When I started Powerballing I used to get pain in the same place but used to hold the Powerball with the counter facing inwards. By adjusting my grip a little the problem went away almost immediately!

I've tried a little adjustment if I move it more onto my plam I get the same pain but on the pads of the palm just below the fingers. Any higher up the finger and I get no oomph . I made a little thing out of dental impression mateial to use for my speed runs I'l see if that helps if it does i'll post a picture of it

Thanks for the suggetions though:D

I've had a bit of pain in those parts of my fingers before, but only when I have the rotor to my palm and I wrap my fingers even around the casing, (i.e. all of them pointing towards the counter.)

Generally, no matter how you hold the Powerball, there's going to be a part of the casing or grip or counter which is pressing into a soft part of your hand or fingers, and over-doing this is going to cause pain.

The answers are;

1) Powerball less. (You say this isn't an option)
2) Change your grip to minimise the pressure.
3) Use SurGrip or something, as this will allow a firm grip with less pressure applied on the Powerball.
4) Wear gloves.

I had the EXACT same problem, but like Enda said, just that little extra adjustment, and no longer any damaged tendons in the fingers or outskirts of palm... plus the little adjustments are sometimes the cause of new records...

take a couple of days off ;)....I know you said this isn't an option but trust me the only way to get rid of that pain is to let the squidgy bits on your hands and fingers recover :D. I had the same pain but in a different place, I hold the powerball with the counter towards my palm and the downside of this technique is that the edge of the counter digs quite painfully into the squishy bit of the palm just below the fingers. However, I had to take a week off because of my elbow and now the problem seems to be gone permanently. I can powerball a LOT more without this area getting tender now and this lets me push quite a bit harder in practice. But now im developing blisters on other parts of my hand :P..haha

Try it, giving your hand a chance to recover properly is never a bad idea ;)...and you always have a left hand if you can't stop pballing completely. :D

It is my left and I have tried not using it for a couple of weeks as soon as I start again it picks up where it let off.

It's also the spot where I grip anything ie jars etc

hmm, that sucks. Apart from changing your grip like the other's have suggested I don't really know what you can do about that. Maybe using a glove to see if you can keep the friction/pressure down?

Quick questions. Is this purely a pressure problem? Where the ball is pressing on your fingers?
Does it hurt to make a fist when you have nothing in your hand?

Just trying to make sure that it isn't early onset tendonitis.

When mu hand is at rest and open no pain
If I squeeze the fleshy parts from the side of the finger little bit of pain if i squeezze the fleshy part top yo bottom big pain making a fist 60% of max pain

OK good. Doesn't sound like tendonitis. It does sound like a pressure problem.
Unfortunately, that means doing what you don't want to hear - either resting for a couple of days or finding an alternative grip.
Chances are you only have to use the different grip for a couple of days and give the fingers a chance to rest.
You never know, you may learn to like the new grip!
