hey all i thought i may aswell start a score thread for myself. i had just been keeping track on paper
anyway at the moment im at:
12602 250hz RH
11702 250hz LH
10279 metal
15020 90s
5414 30s
been powerballing since november last year and ive been making slow progress hit 12k on january 25th and climbed quickly to 12.5k on feb 7th. since then i havent made much improvement but im going to concentrate on endurance. after 1 session i normally have to wait for my thumb to heal it takes about 4-5 days so annoying cos i cant put the powerball down
goals:

10.5k metal
15500 90s (Acheived 9/4/07) New Target: 16K
5700 30s
Sat on a bench in the sun,changed my technique slightly and got
11858 LH improved by 156
12695 RH improved by 93
then got the metal out
10317 improved by 38
Nicely done, Hugh, nice work. 13k should not be far off now.

Small improvements are always good so don't rule them out as every little helps :)

Well done Hugh, it's great to break several records at once, isn't it. I've not broken any at all in my last two chat sessions, which is unlike me...I nearly always break at least 4 or 5. :o
Nicely done, Hugh... 13k just around the corner for the speed record.
My right hand has been out of action for around a month now,the tendon in one of my fingers was hurting too much so i have been powerballing left handed. my new LH record is 11998 so close to 12K! which i think i can achieve soon. should be back on my right hand next week i think
i also did a dual hand run and got 22174 only tried that once but i think i can easily improve on that

Well done Hugh, 12k with your left will be a good barrier to overcome. Won't take long either...I bet you'll find your left will improve faster than your right did. :)

Congratulations on the LH record, new balls really do help and that is a pretty good 90's as well. Keep pushing and practicing and that score will sail up:)

I remember how excited I was when I brok 12k with my left hand. I even made a whole new thread on it. :rolleyes: So congrats on that, and also for making it into the top 100 strength league!
Well done Hugh nice 90's to. That would make it 16k to get on the score board and 42 17 k scores getting quite competitive now

Had my first good session today,never powerballed like this before just went for pure speed.anyway broke records on both hands during a dual run and to be honest i was so confident that 13k would be reached today but it may have to wait till next week

Yup, dual runs definitely bring on your weaker hand.
I wouldn't be doing over 14k LH without doing dual runs.

Great scoring there Hugh, you're experiencing almost exactly what I did...from 12.8k to 13.2k in a single bound. I quickly got to 13.5k too after that, so I'm sure you will as well. (Was with my LH though!) ;)
i dont think il get 13.5k for a while,had a really bad virus this weekend its sucked the life out of me im going to rest for a week or so my tendons were aching the other day im going to be using the grippers this week
Well had a little session at 1am after work! i did 10 reps Lh with my Coc trainer and 15 RH.can almost close the #1 now.then i decided to clean my metal and have a go.managed to get personal best of 9786 LH.
also managed 10363 RH which is my 2nd best on metal but mainly im happy because i manged 7 10K scores whereas before i had only broken 10k like 3 or 4 times.resting for a couple of days then back on the metal again hoping to break 10400

Left hand is catching up nicely. Well done for working it...it's good to be even. (I've not been anywhere near my left hand records lately, as I've been concentrating too much on out and out right hand speed, (when I can actually be bothered to have a session that is!!) Comp. tomorrow I hope, so might see what I can do with my LH then.)
Got 10530 metal earlier at the gyrotek chat.resting for a week maybe 2 as my arms feel so so tired. we should play more UT adrenalin

I got 10134 on metal LH and a few good rh scores.im going to be resting probably till the end of the month because i can feel slight pain in my right hand knuckles i think its similar to tendon pain. hoping to improve my left hand scores once my thumb heals (injured it trying to play golf)

ive being doing some endurance Lh today
new 30s record of 5332 not far off my RH
this month im sticking to a training routine of just 30s runs,kinda of treating it like weights like doing reps it seems to be working like a charm for my left hand

Well done Hugh, it's a great advantage to be well balanced in some respects. I used to be, so need to work my left some more like you are.
the other day i had a small session and got 5535 30s RH so thats a new record,i feel im due a new LH record soon cos i got 3 12k lh the other day
oh i just got 5698 30s RH it felt good!!
Thats a 300ish rpm leap over 30's well done onward to 6k:eek:

but more importantly i managed to break 13k twice with my RH on plastic 13036 and 13168,i think this is great as my record is 13232,and i also got 10567 and 10516 on the metal RH
oh and i just got 10739 Metal RH
and add to that 5730 30s run RH
new plastic RH record

Nice one Hugh, keep it going and you'll soon head over 13.5k, then on towards 14k. It's easy really.
Been playing a lot more UT2K4 lately, but still not very good! Mentioned to Pete the "YKI Instagib" server, and it's excellent...my favourite. He can't seem to get on it though. :( )

I've tried playing CS but it's just not as action packed as UT. I'm an out and out fragger type. :p
Maybe I will try with the UT in the future..., until then, I'll stay playing counter :p

I got 12932 on my LH a couple of days ago,that's up by around 300rpm in one session looking forward to 13k on my LH

well i broke my Overall record with my left hand!
yesterday i got 13491,i broke 13k 8 times in one session, that's more than i ever have with my right hand.
I improved my LH by 872 rpm in under a week but now Im resting and waiting for blisters to heal.

Ah, I remember when I was that balanced. 13476 RH, 13579 LH. Could do better Dual-Hand runs then than I can now, despite a combined speed improvement of about 1800rpm since those scores were my records.
Well done Hugh, don't be surprised if your right hand makes an 800rpm improvement soon! :D
i got 16386 for 90s strength, but im confident i can do much better 16500 then 17k is what im aiming for

I think this heavily depends on the person. 30sec endurance sessions may help for most persons to achieve higher speed records, but 90sec endurance may not. And above that 90sec endurance is definitely a different kind of sport than speed runs.
I think in way you could compare this aspect of powerballing with the difference between natural born sprinters and natural born long-distance runners.

i got a new dual run score of 13195 + 12968 = 26163
plus i got many scores over 13K it feels good
got it on video but im not sure that you can read the scores i think i can beat that anyway so hopefully i will be able to submit a better quality video!
havent got the internet at home untill tuesday so i have a few days to get a new record.
i also tried using surgrip today,i felt it helped but its made a mess of my powerballs on the outside! anyone know the best way to get it off?

the 13976 was with my left hand! im submitting my videos and pictures for the scoreboards today,just realised it puts me into division 1! well happy
feels good to be near 14K but i think it will be hard for me to reproduce a score near it again. im training my right hand to get it up to speed next week

Wow, that's impressive!! I've only ever once seen someone beat their speed record during a dual-hand run, but it wasn't acceptable because he'd definitely speed one Powerball up to a new record while the other one was slowing down. But you're was right on the mark, both balls at top speed at the same time.
You could've done a left-hand run straight after and definitely hit 14k I'm sure. :D

had a competition with pete today over msn he beat me 14.5K but i managed a new record of 13564 on my rh and im about to join the live comp just to get a score on there
i had a small session the other day i didnt notice at the time but i got 5450 30s on my left hand. i should be improving my strength scores. and it looks like my right hand is out of action again same finger same pain same place i fear it may always be a case of using my left hand more than the right. either that or i may have to grip it with 3 fingers like pako
Don't use 3 fingers, or u will stress them ;-)
I'm used to that grip, but if I were able to use 5 fingers, I would :D
I can use 5 fingers, but when I start "pulsing", I dont feel confortable, and my coordination fails. I'm sure that if I practice, I could get used to it. When I grip the pb with rotor towards palm, i use all fingers (see my 15136 video)

well i got 5693 30s left hand today. maybe i will have to grip it right hand like akis does with the counter in between the thumb and index finger it will take a lot of practise but it may help

My grips similar to Akis's one. And I must say it's really effective for the 250Hz but not so much the 350Hz. So if your looking to boost your plastic scores up and it means your spending a few weeks getting accustomed to the technique then do it. It shall have bigger rewards in the long term. :)
I though that you can make more in 30 sec, your speed scores are a little better than my scores, but my 30 sec. is near to 6.4 k, try to train more your endurance and maybe your speed will improve more ;)
yeah i am going to train more endurance than speed,as my scores seem to have plummeted earlier this month 13k felt easy but i havent got over that in ages. so im going to be doing plenty of 30s runs untill my strength is built up

I never view 30s as an exercise for sawpping hands. I think ultimatly you'll get faster speeds without the change over.
I also usually do 30s one handed but seeing Hugh having such similar scores he might be able to get higher scores both hands;)

Well done getting that 13499 rpm on the live chat (shame it wasn't 1 rpm higher), I set that as my target.
As I hard as I tried I only managed 13477! :(.

Hey Hugh, you're concentrating a lot more these days on endurance aren't you? Regardless though, everyone has been passing both our scores in speed recently. Lets hope we see some more speed scores from the two of us!

you hit the nail on the head jihmmie my speed is ok at around 13.7-8k on the right and 13.6 on the left but i never seem to get above those scores so im trying to use the metal and do 90s runs 30s runs as my speed isnt improving. basically im looking at my scores thinking which could i break easily thats not speed, so next for me is 30s and metal scores. i think my technique needs changing

managed 5929 30s left hand today last 10 seconds let me down again 20s is easy 30 i get tired. blister on my left pinkie and my right hand is in pain as usual it doesnt like healing to quickly

That means you're going that little bit too fast for the first 20 seconds though. Just try and slow it a little until 30s is easy, and I bet you'll then shoot over 6k.
increased my rh 30s to 5862 still not happy i havent hit 6k yet. powerballing has gone down hill i hit 13.7k average but never more. the last week i spent to much time going out and getting drunk my fitness is out the window so this next few weeks im going swimming to improve fitness so hopefully the scores will rise and 14k will happen in a few weeks

Do not worry hugh, after a few metal sesions you'll feel abit slow with plastic, but soon you'll be as fast as you were and even faster!;):D

i know the feeling hugh, i've been getting bests in 60's and 30's but not in speed. I want to get a metal, but i dont have the money at the moment. You'll get 14k before i do though i'm sure of it. i'm only getting 13.5's at the moment, although i've only tried a few speed runs the past few weeks.

well considering you're only 6rpm off 14k you should get there first. What speeds are you averaging at the moment? i'm doing 13.4's mostly

Whew, congrats!!
Too bad the 24hr didn't work out, I had wanted to do it too.
To find a 24h free time on a weekend for me is gonna be really hard.
The only posibility could be a saturday very very early on the morning, and skip gym saturday, then go to sleep, and once i get up go to gym on sunday. Due to work and gym during week, fridays I'm fried, and would be hard to wake up early with enough motivation.
I'm still interested in the 24h marathon, just need to plan ahead. :p

Fantastic news Hugh, you really deserve it.
i got 6021 30s Lh and 17064 90s Bh gripper.
in the last 15 sec the ball started vibrating and the rotor has died,still works to 12k but vibrates to much,this is the first ball i have killed excluding the one i threw on the floor. im working out which ball to use for endurance now and it seems all the powerballs i own vary greatly. im confident i can beat that 90s by a large margin as i felt i could do much more

Great score Hugh, and you probably only saved yourself 200 max by using Ed Tech changeovers, (depending on how many you did of course...more than 5 or 6 changes and you might've saved more), but still, that's as good as 17k Grip-Tech.

the other day i got 17064 proper grip tech,then i thought i would try ed tech to see and what do you know i got 17064 again,for me it doesnt help 1 bit it seems!!!

Like anything I think it requires a lot of practice. I can't really get any higher because I'm not very good at it, and I can't get it to spin freely and easily. (When I tried it with the light metal, like you suggested, it sounded and felt like a hammer-drill in my hand when I loosened my grip, and from then on it felt really rough spinning normally, so I stopped trying.)
my fingers are really bruised from powerballing,i had a rest for about a week to let them heal up but trying again today and its quite painfull. so im putting them away for a couple more weeks i think.
also my scores have plummeted once again 13k has become a challenge for me

Just like you my fingers are trashed to so time for some quality rest me thinks. Try not to worry too much about your scores they will soon rise again and l am sure the scores will be better than before, it is strange how scores fluctuate but what l have learnt is you cant rush powerballing.
rest up and look forward to some new higher scores in the future.
keep spinning, but give it a couple of days ;)

i got 11009 and 11065 on the metal left hand today got a few 13k im leaving my right as it still hurts. no records but i think the metal feels easier now

The more you use it the easier it'll feel. I had times in the past where I'd pick it up and would genuinely think I'd put the lightweight rotor in it, it would feel so unnaturally light. Not had that for a while though. :o

I'm in the same situation as you Hugh, i'm struggling to get 13k now. used to hit it all the time. Maybe i need more practice. I've noticed yout technique is very similar to mine.
IT seems that you are in a metal mode hugh;)TRy and take as much advantage as possible and then come back to 14k with plastic;):DKeep it up!
had a little experiment yesterday. i took some cleaning fluid which is slightly acidic and used it to clean the tracks on my very first ball which is covered in the white specs. before i cleaned it i got 116xx maximum. after cleaning i hit 12657 and plenty of 12k scores. so i tried it on a slightly newer ball and again it increased the score but only for my left hand,for my right the score decreased. then i tried it on a ball i regularly get 13k on and it decreased the score to 12.2k max oh well. but anyway its great for cleaning really old worn down tracks.
aside from this the only record i broke is my lh upc up to 41962 i think it was cant remember ah well

Sounds like you're having the same problem i am, i'm not getting any speed at all. Congrats on the UPC score though
i got 11183 metal rh but it felt like a fluke, i mean i wasnt using my rh becuase my fingers are in pain constantly but i gave it one go and broke my record
This happens to me every now and again. You seem to get a burst of energy but nothing feels any different.
Heh. Yeah, i also get this. When i feel exhausted, a new record pops up out of nowhere!:D;)

That happened to me a few times in the past. I've broken my record by hundreds before on the first Metal run of a session, perhaps after lots of Plastic runs or 30s runs. Good to see you back. :)

So sorry do disapoint you Hugh :p But i beat that score twice the other day. My best for metal is now 11,382 (Which is also better than Jihmmies score i might add :D). I'll race you to 11.5k though, seeing as though you beat me to 14k in the plastic.

I remeber when you were stuggling to get 11k now it's a breeze. You gotta now move on to chasing down 12k now! Might as well go for it and btw I notice a little kink in your technique as you sped up the metal there. Just make sure everythings smooth and you'll glide on over to 12k before you know it. ;)

The lack of gravity might give you an edge there...new world record? Probably not, but a slight edge perhaps?
If you bungee jump with a powerball, I"m not even sure if a wrist strap will hold it in your hand...duct tape for more secure measure, I recommend!!!
well im flying today at 9pm,so i arrive in hong kong on monday at 4pm!!! damn i pretty much lose a whole day. my next session will be in either macua or hong kong but it will just be a few speed runs i think. cant wait to get there

Make sure you remember to take pictures with you and your powerball with random Chinese locals!
And when in doubt, ask them "Chee saw bean doe ah!" That's the only phrase you need to get around Hong Kong ;)
its funny everytime i order food at a restuarant they are sooo shocked i can say thank you and order char siu, then i have to explain i dont really speak cantonese.
i may end up having a session later today cant say im excpecting many highscores the flight was very draining,delayed by 3 hours but we were in the plane and it got really hot nightmare

i was planning on going to the outdoor observation deck but it was closed,kinda annoyed that indoors was the best i could do. i got 13812 today on my 3rd attempt having a rest for a few days cos i went jogging yesterday and swimming today. im hoping to do a couple more vids of the peak of hong kong and the ifc 2 which is the tallest building in hong kong.
well im back in the uk now,wont be powerballing for a while as its my sisters wedding on saturday.

the other day whilst working at the cinema selling hugely overpriced popcorn,a customer asked me if i was on steroids that day,because the veins were sticking out on my arms and i realised it was because powerballing has given me huge muscles in my forearms and after powerballing the veins really stick out.he asked if i work out and i just said well i did some pull ups on a tree when i walked my dog but mainly its from powerballing. shame i didnt have time to explain what a powerball was!
working at the cinema is draining me of energy i cycle there and back and its 5 miles. my legs are recovering slowly but i dont feel the energy to powerball on my days off

My g/f used to comment on my increased muscle defnition in my shoulders and arms, and a female friend has also commented on it before, but generally I wear long-sleeves mostly so don't show off my arms so much! ;)
And I occasionally cycle to and from work, (around 5 miles, mostly up-hill on the way home), and while my "cold" scores can be quite high, as I'm warmed up, it really does drain my energy and prevents me from balling that evening.
If I don't cycle tomorrow and I have time I might have a bash in the evening, otherwise Saturday morning perhaps if the weathe's bad, (because if it's good I'll try and get out on the golf course). Perhaps see you in the chat some time.
i hit 13912 yesterday which was great considering i didnt feel strong or quick.14k really is my barrier untill i change something in my technique.
i bought a Wii,they rock i keep playing the bowling game where it goes up to 91 pins. off to italy early thursday should be powerballing there. i also bought 16 new balls so im breraking one in now in hope of a new highscore soon
hehe... i played the wii in my cousin's house, got bowling score of 176 :D

Exactly what I thought. I havn't treated myself to a new powerball in ages.
Don't have a Wii but played once at my cousin's. Quite an interesting console i must say;):D I'm sure at least one of those 16 balls will have at least 14k on them soon;):D;)Have a nice trip to Italy!:)
well im back after 2 holidays,much to tell:
i powerballed in florence italy next to and up a huge cathedral videos coming later, i also injured my arm whilst fishing something out a swimming pool,have just about healed up but my scores have diminished rapidly and im powerballing to heal now but should be scoring high soon
only one day after i got back from italy i went to lisbon in portugal but i didnt do any powerballing there but its a great town. and then on the day i was supposed to fly back our flight was cancelled becuase of the computer crash,so we slept at the airport,got a flight to paris the next day,then the eurostar back home. expensive but i can say i visited 3 capital citys in 8 hours!
moving back to university on wednesday,i predict its going to be about 3 weeks before im once again hovering above 13.5K
