View Full Version : Jammy scores
I want details on training schedules and progress...... Please:):):)( It takes too long to check individual score boards)
You beat me to the punch here... I was planning on getting this going on Monday. Been doing all kinds of training over the last 10 days and currently taking a 3 day break until Sunday when I want to try and hit some new scores. Think I buggered it up a little though, cleaned the 2 balls I am using a week ago and they are still so smooth it is frustrating.
In the mean time - a summary of my progress thus far since getting the first ball on 15 Feb:
250Hz - RHand
13920 - 21 April 2007
13910 - 18 March 2007
13668 - 2 March 2007
13584 - 27 Feb 2007
13338 - 24 Feb 2007
13219 - 22 Feb 2007
13123 - 17 Feb 2007
12788 - 15 Feb 2007
12025 - 15 Feb 2007
250Hz - LHand
13351 - 21 April 2007
12945 - 18 April 2007
250Hz - Endurance Best
30s - 6099
60s - N/a
90s - 16960
Have not yet taken a try on left hand and have not yet seriously given endurance a bash. Gonna work this thing up slowly. First goal is to hit 14000, ill see when to set that after Sunday - might be month end - and then 17500 on endurance 90s.
I'll also post some details on training schedules and routines as requested. Not sure that it will be much help though.
hey man hows practice going? Just noticed that we are both slowly slipping down the score board rankings :P. Too long with no new records, but I think my right arm is back in action as of today so I'll be gunning for a new record aswell.
Good luck in sunday ;)
Linus
Good luck in sunday ;)Linus
Thanks for the best wishes, buddy.
Yea, Sunday was a very good day for me and my PBall. Initially I wanted to do it all, 90s, 60s, 30s, Speed left and right, etc. But alas, my left hand's thumb is suffering from a bit of overuse, so I only got on with the right hand 250Hz speed.
Got up on Sunday morning and warmed up till I felt the arm was nice and stiff and started ripping. First one felt like it was going over 18000 - checked the counter - 12900. I was thouroughly disgusted. Did a couple of more runs and got it up to 13500. Thought that was it for me.
Went and took a shower, had some breakfast - about 20 min in total. Thought I'd give it another go. Picked up the ball and first run I did was holding the ball with counter pointing away from the palm - BAM - 13745. I could not believe it, so I thought let's try that again, this time holding the ball like I normally do, counter against the palm, and - BAM - 13910. My first reaction was that it was a counter error. Did a couple more runs, got 2 in the high 13800's couple of high 13700's and then they dropped substantially.
I was pretty impressed. I might just be able to break 14000 before the end of the month.
Awesome work 14k here you come. Well done:D

Psychological, smychological... You are gonna be a hard team to beat. For the first time ever not Nr 1 in the one day cricket rankings... it was bound to p!s the Aussie team off... and it shows. It's gonne be tough to get you guys out of there...
On a different note, as promised in your score thread, here (http://files.filefront.com/Exercisexls/;7044169;/fileinfo.html) the spreadseet I use. See if it could help with the recording. You'll notice that I have a 2-day routine, one day training speed and the other strength. I want to follow this routine for the next 2 weeks or so and see what the improvement is on the average scores, if any.
Just a note on the scores, I'm using one specific ball for all the exercises, a ball that can be subjected to lots of stress and which I am not too worried about. It is a little slower than the ball I use to do speed runs. Yesterday, just after I did the speed sessions, I took the speed ball and got 13700+ on all 3 tries, so it is about 500 revs faster than the practice ball.

Thanks for the link, that may prove useful for me in the future. :)
Thanks for the link, that may prove useful for me in the future. :)
I'm constantly experimenting and changing, so I changed it slightly. Link to update is here (http://files.filefront.com/Exercisexls/;7055014;/fileinfo.html). I made some changes after I read a couple of older threads yesterday. Gonna keep at this for the time specified and then do a 90s and speed run record attempt 2 days after the end of the course. See what progress, if any.
I will also do a last training session tomorrow and then rest till Saturday to see if I can nail 14000.
Goodluck for saturday and goodluck in the cricket tonight
The boys gave you a little bit of a fright before they fell over the line last night. Wins a win though:)
The boys gave you a little bit of a fright before they fell over the line last night. Wins a win though:)
Man, you can say that again:mad: . Problem was, I did not even watch the whole game. Wife and I went to watch local Afrikaans version of Defending the Caveman, absolutely brilliant production, not sure if you've heard of it. Had a look at the score during intermission and we were coasting with Kallis and Gibbs at the helm. After the show, listened to the radio on the drive home just as Pollock got dismissed... and then all hell broke loose. I could not believe it. Kudo's to malinga from Sri Lanka though... 4 wickets in 4 balls takes some doing... no matter who you are and who you play against.
But I'm seeing a problem developing here and I just hope you guys don't have the same problem. The top batsmen are all in such good nick that it was a while since the bottom guys were really required to spend some time in the crease - hence their poor shot selection and form - lack of match practice. The Aussies have the same problem with Hayden & Co in such good form - bottom guys have had very little time in the middle.
I just hope this is not a problem for either of us...:(
On another note, I see Ian Chappel echoes your sentiments on the long time it takes to complete the tournament.
BTW, whose your money on for West Indies v New Zealand?
Cheers !... and good luck for Saturday against Bangladesh...;)
I like New Zealand. Bond and Vettori are all class and they bat powerfully all the way. I think Black Green or Gold the Cup is heading south of the Equator
Way to smash the Windies... Seems Flemming and his boys are really making a run for this.
That's for sure. By the way are you a Far Side fan?
As in the cartoons?
Yeah Gary Larson.
I know of them, read a couple of them, pretty funny and weird, would not say that I'm an avid follower though.
On another point...
Took 2 days off from Powerballing since Thursday, only spinned a little on Saturday afternoon whilst watching a movie, tried to get into action today for some fast spins... but alas... the 14000 barrier eludes me.
At first I thought that there was a problem with the ball I used, but that was not the problem. I soon realised that something else whas amiss... my right arm... somebody stole it and replaced it with an inferior copy.:p
Once your left, or non-dominant arm, that is usually more than 1000 revs behind your strong arm, starts recording scores higher than the supposed strong arm.. then you know there is a problem. Managed to smash my left hand record by 300 rpm... up to 12848... the sad part is, that is about what my right arm averaged through about 20 speed runs...:( absolutely sickening... And this is not an April fools joke either...
Any suggestions??? Apart from take a loooooong break ???
yeah it sucks big time, I know how you feel. I took a 2 days break just like you and my right arm is currently pretty crappy aswell. Ive only gotten above 13.5k twice in the last two or three days, so something is definitely not right.
Maybe a longish break is what we both need :)

Hi Guys, small update...
Got some good scores over the week-end, nothin close to the records though, highest speed RH 13845, LH 12654 and 90s 16890... thus close but no sigar.
Got HAMMERED with some flu virus last night, lying flat on my back in bed. Hopefully up and about soon though.

Nice scores Jammy, Hope all goes well next session and you notch a few records :)
HI guys, been off the boil for a while, caught a really bad flu virus at the beginning of last week and it really nailed me. Got some spinning going today and I managed to break left hand record - 12945 - don't know where that came from. I managed to get about 12 runs over the 12800 mark with my left hand - and this after I could barely manage 12000 2 weeks ago...
Riht hand still lazy, I managed to eventually get a comfortable grip again and managed a couple of scores in the 13600 range, nowhere close to my record though. But I am starting to feel the rhythm again, so let's see what happens.
Welcome back Jammy, won't be long before you're on the up again.
;):D
Laid some smack down on the poms last night. :DGuess we'll be seeing you in the Semis unless the Irish can kick some sri lankan butt tonight

Welcome back Jammy. I myself got slammed with a bad flu too, and I'm still not fully recovered yet. My powerball scores have really been suffering lately.
I am utterly confused at this present moment in time. This whole bloody week I've been doing warm-ups, 30s runs and such to get into "hot" mode. Best score of the week right hand was 13550 and that was after normally starting out on about 12800 and slowly working my way up.
Last night I worked very late, only got to bed at about 01h00, ate a lot of junk yesterday and when I woke up this morning I felt like I was hit by a train - absolutely no energy. Ate breakfast, took a shower and just before I went out the door I picked up the ball and thought I'd give it a spin to see if I can at least get 12000. I did not get 12000. I got 13490. Thought it was a counter error. Ripped it again - 13540. Did 3 more spins all between 13450 and 13550.
So how the bloody hell does that work:confused:
Happens Jammy.
Good scores often come when you're not trying, and more so when you're not trying and not recording the run.
I scored 2 new records on 2 seperate days when I was just messing about and not really thinking about it and not recording.
Gave me the drive, on both occasions, to have a proper sesh to try and replicate the records.
Resulted in me smashing my previous and longstanding record of 14335.
Don't try and figure it out. Just take confidence from the scores, relax, have a sesh later and see what happens.
;):D

This happens sometimes, and lots of people say they achieve much better scores in the morning. You may have felt like **** in your head, but your body was rested. Perhaps fast-twitch muscles are often more awake in the mornings?
I'm the opposite at the moment. I would normally easily be able to pick up a Powerball and spin 12800 to 13200 cold, but lately I'm not getting over 12k. Same with the Metal...11.5k to 12k is normally easy, but even after warming up quite a bit last night I could only scrape 11.4k. My muscles are just really slow.
You should have capitalised on your 13.5k cold score, as you could probably have got near 14.5k after a decent 10 or 20 minute warmup. :o

I find i get good hot modes after a good day of sport. For you 'grown ups' going to work and sitting behind a desk is not going to put you in the best shape to achieve your best. If say i wake up early and go for one or two sets of tennis i will then but in condition to start training with the ball and start warming up.
One thing to mention that i read somewhere by Akis is that he does hard training with the ball for the week prior to his record attempt. After the hard weeks powerballing he rests one or two days then dedicates a day to powerballing. Wake up nice and fresh and have a supplementing breakfast etc
But your not the standard of the extreme scores Akis pulls out so just pick a day where your in good condition and not tired and you should notch a few scores. :)
Pete

Yea, Adrena1in, you're right, I did not think of it. But as you said, gives me confidence to take this seriously again.
...For you 'grown ups'...Pete
Yea, youngster... you just remember that... You probably reckon you gonna hit 14k before me... Well see this as a challenge, mate...:p ;) :D
Nothing like a bit of a challenge, even if self imposed, to get the old juices flowing.
Had the first decent session this morning for a long time. Had a shower, as I do every morning :D and got down to business. First score 13550, no warm-up, nothing. Kept getting scores in the high 13400 and low 13500's. Did about 10 runs with each hand - left hand also just nudging 13000. Then took a break as my wife made us some lunch.
After lunch, 2 things happened. Broke my right hand record to 13921, only 11 revs up from previous record, but at least I got it. Second thing that happened is I smashed my left hand record to 13351. Kept getting right hand scores in the 13700 - 13900 range, got above 13900 3 times in total and with left hand kept getting in the 13200's.
Here are vids of the record RH attempt and one of the left hand runs. I forgot to hit the record button when I did the left hand record. Also, for some reason the microphone was not working, so unfortunately no sound. This really ticked me off as I was gonna run the vids through powerballizer later and I am convinced there was a run or 2 where the counter did not get the correct score. But, oh well...

Cheers:cool:
Good work Johan, nice to get your form back after a 'cold' spell ;):D
Oh so close to 14k, and if you were using a 250Hz rather than a neon you would probably have gotten higher. At least for me the difference between the neons and 250hz models is anywhere between 100 and 300 rpm.
Looks like I need to do something about my cold mode quite quickly if I'm going to have any chance of staying ahead :D But so far in my rest week i've chopped what seems like 3 whole trees and cleaned up half a damn forest so my muscles are definitely not relaxing :P
Good luck with that 14k :)

Interesting point, Linus. I actually did change over to my fastest normal Pro ball, but the scores were about the same. Broke 13900 twice with a blue ball, the one I used in my left handed attempt, but just not over it.
Well done, Jammy, with a score that close to 14k you must have had the desire to keep going until you smashed it! ;) :)
Yea, problem is, the mind is strong but the body has got it's own set of rules. After the last time over 13900, i think it was 13905, I thought I'd give it 5 minutes and then go again, but alas, when I returned I barely managed to get 13500. Completely cold. But it gives me great confidence.
Good work mate. As I said on Linus's thread I may have a higher score but you two are constantly hitting higher scores and averages than me. You'll both be well into 14k pretty soon I'm thinking
Thanks Guys, I must admit, it REALLY feels nice to pick up the ball from cold, spin it and just know, before you even look at the score, that it is somewhere in the vicinity of 13300. About 2 weeks ago when I did that, I was real impressed if I managed 12500 on the first go.
Decided I am gonna be the complete student for the next week and follow Akis' advice to the letter. Therefore, from today until Thursday I will be doing training on 30s etc - one day hard, one day less intens. Friday will be rested and Saturday morning WILL be the day I nail 14k.
So, Pete, you have until Saturday to beat me to 14k. If not, sorry bud, you're gonna be too late...:D :D :p

Well, Mr Mahem and Mr Hungry...:p
Had a nice session this afternoon, just after I returned from my office. Did some 30s runs and some speed runs, got a lot higher average than my Saturday session as most score were between 13550 to 13850 with an average over 15 runs of 13722.
One hard session left before Saturday and that will be Thursday. Resting again tomorrow as I did yesterday.

well looks like both off you are in better from than me at the moment. Had a bit of a session today and the highest I got with my right was just 13.7k, with a crappy average of 13.35k. Got a joke, just for you...:p
A South African was sitting with an Aussie and an Englishman in Saudi Arabia, sharing a smuggled barrel of beer, when all of a sudden the police entered and arrested them. They were initially given the death sentence but contested this and were finally imprisoned for life.
But as it was a national holiday, the Sheikh decided they should be released after each receiving 20 lashes of the whip.
As they were preparing for their punishment, the Sheikh suddenly said: "It's my first wife's birthday today and she asked me to allow each of you one wish before your whipping, but you can not wish to not be whipped!"
The Englishman thought for a second then said: "Please tie a pillow to my back before whipping."
This was done but the pillow only lasted 10 lashes before the whip went through. The Englishman cried in pain. The Aussie saw this and said: "Please tie 2 pillows to my back before whipping." This was done and lasted for the whole 20 lashes.
The Aussie stood up smiling.
The South African saw this but before he could make his wish, the Sheikh said: "As you are from South Africa with all that crime, a cricket team who is always losing in a final and a rugby team who can't win anything, you are permitted to have two wishes!"
The South African thought for a second, then said: "Thank you most Royal and Merciful Highness. My first wish is to receive a hundred lashes with the strongest, toughest whip available."
"If you so desire," the Sheikh replies with a questioning look on his face, "and your second wish?"
"Tie the Aussie to my back" :D
Gentlemen, just wanna give you a quick update.
After work today I did my last training session today, for preparation for my onslaught on 14k on Saturday morning. Started out with the normal stuff - warmed up for about 5 minutes. Did some 30s runs, did a speed run to see what's cooking and got 13800. Did a couple of score in the range of 13700 - 13900 and then I got the most disgusting score in the world - 13979.
Here is a link to the video. But before you watch it, please be warned, due to some serious frustrastion at the end when seeing the score, I accidently let rip with a choice frase that might not be suitable for everybody to hear. I am terribly sorry about this, but I cannot edit it as it is right at the score. Maybe just turn your volume down right at the end of the run.

Grats on the score.
Haha, profanities indeed , im outraged, never heard the like before ;):p
Yeah, getting so close to 14k is very frustrating, I think what you said reflects exactly how I was feeling during my last proper session when I got to within 5 damn rpm of reaching 14k again. But be happy that you are at least getting good scores and beating records, this means that 14k is absolutely within your reach now and try to focus on stuff like holding top speed for a little longer and just really going for it :)
How did you score after this run? any more consistently good scores or did it drop away strongly?
Linus
How did you score after this run? any more consistently good scores or did it drop away strongly?
Linus
I got a couple of more scores in the 13800 - 13900 range, once more over 13950, but after about 6 runs I could not get it higher than 13600 - stopped then.
I remember that I made a slight change in my grip and could also feel my shoulder muscles getting in on the action - quite a weird feeling - first time I experienced it. When I run it through Powerballiser and see that I actually went through 14k, only just, but just could not sustain it for long enough. I actually felt, when my shoulder started to join the party, that I lost rhythm with the ball.
I could have sworn I heard Graeme Smith say that after they were bowled out for 149.:D
Actually when I listen to it again that's what Graeme Smith said when he was bowled for 2 by Bracken:rolleyes:
No no no third time has cleared it up for me. It's what Graeme Smith said when asked if he had a future in South African cicket:o
There is an Aussie a South African and a Frenchman on a cruise. The french man picks up an expensive bottle of champagne looks at it and throws it overboard. The Aussie and The South African say hey that was a really expensive bottle. The Frenchman says we have so much of that stuff at home I can afford to throw it out. The South African pulls a 5 carat diamond out of his pocket and thows it overboard saying we have so many of these things at home I can throw it away. The Aussie looks at the other two and picks up the South African and throws him overboard.
On a serious note cussing aside when you run your vid through the powerballyzer. Your score peaks while you still have your arm up. Other vids you get the arm down and the shoulder and other arm into action. You get 13.9k arm only thats bloody impressive get some shoulder into it you'll kill 14 I'm thinking 14.3 14.4
Yep, you're right, that where I heard it the first time as well...:o
I have always been a fan of Smith, even when he went through a really bad patch of form a while ago. I truly think he is one of the most talented cricketers in the world. But he has 2 problems: Firstly, his brass are bigger than his brains and secondly, he is not a good enough leader to be captain. Ricky Ponting is a brilliant captain because his players are loyal and would run through brick walls for him. Before his fall from grace, the late Hansie Cronje had the same influence. We need a strong captain and then our team would be able to compete.
Here is one especially for you...
Sitting together on a train, travelling through the Swiss Alps, were a South African, an Australian (both guys), a young blonde lady, and little old Swiss lady.
The train goes into a tunnel & a few seconds later there's the sound of a loud slap. When the train emerges from the tunnel, the Australian has a bright red hand print on his cheek. No one speaks.
The old lady thinks: That Australian must have groped the blond in the dark, and she slapped his cheek.
The blonde thinks: That Australian must have tried to grope me in the dark, but missed and fondled the old lady. She slapped his cheek.
The Australian thinks: That South African must have groped the blonde in the dark. She tried to slap him but missed and got me instead.
The South African thinks: I can't wait for another tunnel, so I can smack that Aussie again...:D :D

Interesting point, I did not pick that up. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.
Got a public holiday here today, Freedom day, or something political like that, gonna take a nice rest, take the wife out for a bit of shopping and then try and nail it tomorrow morning, as planned.
But first, it's currently 09h40 and it's time for some breakfast...

IF... that happens, I have taken precautions. I have taken an advanced course in zen calmness and, since yesterday, have been schooled in advance meditation techniques. IF... that happens, I will remain calm, I will be a sea of relaxation and the absolute picture of control.

Howsit Guys!
As you might well remember, the plan was to hit 14k by last Saturday. But alas, Bachhus, the cruel god of wine, has powerfull means of persuasion...
We have had an absolute overload of public holidays over the last couple of days. Last Friday was a public holiday and today is another one again. Having 5 days in the middle of the year that counts as a normal holiday cantherefore not be wasted.
Buddy of mine called, asked if we had plans for the loooong weekend, said no and that was the end of my 14k hopes for Saturday. Absolute debauchery is not conducive to any kind of Powerballing...
Will see if I can get some runs in later today. Still recovering from one of the most hectic couple of days I have had in a long while, so let's see what happens...
Wondered what had happened to you Jammy.
You just dropped right off the radar for a while there.
The 14k will come, even Powerballing can't stand in the way of a good party ;):D
Gentlemen, Ladies....
Herewith then as follows. Please bear with me, done a bit of work here:
250Hz Speed:
14k done.
Had one of the best sessions ever this afternoon. Warmed up a little and then did 13515. Have no idea how I got that. Thought I should not waste the potential. Did a 90s just to see what the result would be... more about that later. Rested for about 30s after that and started ripping.
First was with left hand and on the first and only run with my left hand I got a new high score of 13453. Pretty chuffed about that. Then started right hand runs, did 12 runs before my scores started dropping substantially and the first 12 runs were all above 13850. 4th attempt was 14023, 5th attempt gave a new high score of 14029. The remaining attempts all above 13900 before I started dropping badly.
Link to vid: http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s102/Johanmeyer/?action=view¤t=01zJohanMeyer-RH250Hz14029.flv
and powerballiser analysis. Powerballyser seems to indicate that my counter might have robbed me of a couple of revs, but it's difficult to judge really. See attached:
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s102/Johanmeyer/PBliser250HzRH14029run.jpg
90s Runs
As I already said, I only did one 90s run right at the start, scored 16908 and was completely shocked by it. I stopped 5 seconds to soon and was under the impression the score would only be in the vicinity of 15900 or there about. Here is an analysis of the run attached:
http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s102/Johanmeyer/PBliser250Hz90s16908.jpg
The black line indicates the average rpm for the run - 11272 rpm. What was disgusting to me was that I spent a total of 39 seconds at a speed less than the average. I started out nicely, but faded badly towards the end, and I could feel it in the run. It is also evident from the fact that the last 26 seconds of the run was spent at a slower speed than the average. The yellow blocks indicate where I was slower than the average.
Why this analysis? Well, firstly I realised that I am not able to get into a proper hot mode with speed because of the fact that my arm tires too quickly. Currently I have 3 or 5 runs to get top speed. If I can't get form in those 4 runs, I'm stuffed. If my endurance increases I would be able to use more runs and be able to increase my speed.
Therefore I am now going to focus on getting my 90s score to 17500. The red line in the graph is the average needed to achieve that.
Cheers!!
Nice sesh there Jammy.
Congrats on the 14k, you definitely earned it!! ;):D

Huge congrats on your 14K speed Jammy, it was to me inevitable that you would break it before me and last session i only managed 13911 and broke the last of my four powerballs in the sesh so i'm waiting on new one.
Nice 90s as well. You certainly are capable of achieving 17500 90s gripper. It just takes consistency. No use 'bombing' it at the start of the run, its gonna get you nowhere you need to remain at about the same speeds and with quick changeovers. Also if you get into a rhythm it really helps too. 16900 is not easy to achieve so congrats for that and I'm sure you'll progress past 17K 17.5K in no time
I've ordered a new ball so when that comes I'll try and gun for the big 14K
Congrats Jammy, Keep powerballing!
Pete :)
Nicely done Jammy :), knew it wouldn't be long ;).
I'd love to join you in the 14k club but I think it might be a while, my elbow is better now but my thumb has taken its place on the bench. Its my "loose" thumb, kind of double jointed and hurts like hell when I powerball at the moment.
Good luck on improving your scores further, I seriously hope you don't fall into the same slump as me after getting 14k :o.

Absolutely agree with that. Last week I was messing around doing runs where I was trying to start off soild slightly accelerate into the middle third then really accelerate into the last third for each hand during the run. I pulled out a 17972 with seemingly no effort. I waited a coulpe of minutes then did a no guts no glory run hard from the start and then change when it gets ****. I only got 16400. I can do that warming up. Consistentcy is the key:D
Thanks for the replies, Gents, I really appreciate it. Will make sure that I follow your advice to the letter.

Well... I did... and the results surprised even me.
Thought I'd get into some 90s training today in order to start getting over 17k on my way to 17.5k. My first 90s run was as expected - 16455. Then I worked out that if I change hands every 20s, I would be able to get good consistency on my scores. I did 5 runs, culminating in a new 90s record of 17566. So goal achieved.
I can't seem to get the vid onto Photobucket now so will upload the vid and pic tomorrow with the score.
I also thought I'd do some speed runs. Broke left hand record - 13521 and did 10 right hand runs - all 10 of them between 13920 and 13990. As Linus said, there is just that something that needs to change in order to get beyond 14k and I could not seem to get that right today.
Cheers!

Well done on your 90s record, Jammy! Boy, I need to concentrate on my 90s scores soon. My record there is so old! - from mid-December last year! :(
Yes, Linus is accurate about something needing to change before you go beyond 14k on a regular basis. Once you make the change, you will hit it like it's nothing spectacular really.
The change I had to make to get 14k+ regularly was in the grip. I change the angle of Powerball just slightly, and that was the ticket. The different angle of the Powerball in hand cause it to have a position where I could give it a better lift as I accelerated it because it was not completely straight.
It's kind of hard to explain without a good picture of the exact position of the Powerball, but the edge of the counter will rest between the bumps of the knuckles palmside of the first and middle finger. There may be angle because the counter will not resting flush against your palm. This slight adjustment in the grip helped me conquer 14k once and for all.
Since James hit 15k, I will step up to go for 16k soon. Perhaps once 16k is out of the way for me, I will write a book on these exact techniques on how to get to 14k and how to get to 15k with pictures and illustrations to make it completely clear. :)
Each level (13k, 14k, and 15k) are exciting levels to reach and each one has its own specific sets of obstacles and requirements that Powerballs must attain before they really see the results.
Change is really one of the key elements, but each change is different from the last and builds upon what you have already done.
14k is easier than you think, 14.5k not too much harder, and 15k is not really that hard. Yet 14k is definitely a cool thing to do over and over.
Always Powerballing,
Duane Cash
Well done Jammy, nice 90s score and a decent set of speed runs from your sesh.
Will have to do something about my enduro scores as I seem to be letting the side down there.

Duane, thank you, I was very close to that grip you describe there but it was always a little bit of a hit and miss thing. Will make sure that I stick by your suggestion. I am also thinking of experimenting with changing the ball around to have the counter face away from my palm, but the only top guy I see doing it is Akis. All the rest of you hold the ball with counter towards the palm.

I've been making some improvement this last month but not a whole lot.
Really trying to take note of Adrena1in's hints and tips so I can implement them during my next 'proper' sesh when my finger is healed up.
nice endurance work jammy, good technique :) I definitely need to do more with endurance. Ive only done about 5 90s runs in total and half of those were one handed and the rest just messing around really, I'll dedicate todays session to it and see what I can get.

I know I'm not world class but i hold ball with counter away from palm. Also LTLFTC does as well i think. If you get the hang of it it's really quite good. Its now 500 rpm better then my CTP (counter towards palm) score. :)

Great gripper score Jammy.
I hold it with counter-towards-palm, at a slight angle. During gripper runs, when I have to do one hand with the open end in my palm, I do quite a bit worse, although that used to be my best grip back in the 12k speed range.

My endurance has CTP right hand and RTP left hand. My speed the same. I tried CTP on left but it means the ball is going in reverse and I read a thread where Akis said he thought it was better to keep a ball in one direction so I don't reverse it plus my left hand is slightly smaller than my right and I can't grip CTP as well

I would guess they are about the same, but on the other hand I've never measured them ;) ;)

Mine is just the other way around. When I first started I held the ball like you do, but currently my left hand is fastest CTP and my right hand, for some reason, is 200rpm faster RTP than CTP, but I only noticed this 2 days ago. Have not yet tried for a new speed record that way.
First time I noticed it was with my techno. From cold, I picked it up, nailed it CTP and got 13400 - turned it around RTP just for the hell of it and scored 13830. I've heard the techno scores can be fickle, so I picked up my nr 2 ball. CTP I scored 13850 - RTP I scored 13960. That's why I'm thinking of changing.
Howdy Folks,
Just thought I'd give a quick update. Gave my powerballs a good cleaning over the week-end and currently running them in again. Doing some 30s & 90s training and also doing some specific light weight exercises I got from the net. Will probably keep doing until Thursday and then give it a rest for 2 days to see if anything is cooking over the week-end.

What were you saying about not being able to get any Powerballing in this weekend?!? ;)
Well done. :)
Gentleman, Ladies...
Lady luck has a sense of humour... but a very wry one. :o Due to some last minute shopping my wife had to do before we left this morning, I thought I'd try and see what I can do.
I had a real weird session for just over an hour. Started off this morning, cold, with a 12600. I thought... O, Brother... Did 3 90s runs with the top one being 17007. Did some speed runs with a top effort of 13600. My first thought was that this was some kind of message, telling me to put doen the ball and bugger off. But unfortunately I'm a bit persistant...
Did a couple of 30s runs - all of them in the low 6000's and then ran another 90s. Knocked my record out the park with a totally unexpected 17623. Did some speed runs and started scoring high 13900. But every time, and I confirmed this through powerballyzer, I had the problem that I went over 14k but just could not sustain it long enough. Then within 4 spins I got a new LH record of 13603 and a new RH record of 14094. So that takes me within 15 of the top100.
Seems I'm doing something right...
In between I also did an Ed Tech with one of my busted balls, just for the hell of it. I got a new respect for the technique, I must admit. I was more tired after 90s of speed spinning than after 90s gripper.

OK, gripper does use your whole body depending on what technique you use. But Ed Tech uses more body than gripper does, and less arm.... I'm talking about my experience using my technique, it does vary from person to person.

Howsit Ouks!
Just dropping in to say a quick howdie! I received spare parts for 2 balls about a week ago and I have not yet ven got arund to put in the new parts. Go figure. Not dissapeared though, will be back at some stage in the very near future.
With regards to the whole gripper v Ed effort debate, Gripper is tough, but it is more of a sustained effort that you can control. Amost like running a 400m race. But Ed is a series of flat out motions, almost like doing 10 20m flat out spints with just 2 or 3 seconds rest in between. I'd rather do the 400m at sustained pace. The serie o sprints are much tougher.
Cheers guys!

It's coming, thanks for asking. Entered into a 10km on the 7th of July, so it's just over a month's time. Did a 5km on Saturday past in 28min and felt pretty good afterwards. It's not earth shattering pace, but it's a nice pace to maintain. Biggest worry at this stage is to be able to keep running for the whole 10km. But i'm fllowing a very basic running program from a site called Cool Running, that i very easy to follow. So i'm looking forward to it.
