Hope that thumb repairs quickly you were progressing rather quick before hand, so lets hope you can get back right up there when you heal :)

Yeah, you are right, i'll update it. I've never bothered submitting it to the official score board though.

Atlast, managed to get my LH to improve. Been in a real cold mode where even getting 12K was difficult. Today though broke my record 3 times, and got loads more just under my old record. Optimistic I can now keep on improving in the next week or 2.

Bloody impressive. When it gets a bit faster you'll be killing your 17240 record.

Yes, they are all 100% LH scores. I can't wait to have a proper go at my BH 90s record again, but won't do that till in know my RH is perfect again.

I agree... very impressive work. With this progress on left and good rest for right hand, ou are gonna smash your old records to bits...

How long is it till your thumbs fully recovered Tstering? Are we talking Weeks or Months :o :)
Tstering
28-03-2007, 19:07
I would hope at 1 month. I go away to America for a 2 week holiday in 2 weeks from now and i won't take any powerballs, so will get 2 weeks complete recovery. Hopefully when i come back i'll be back in top form, but we shall see.
Maybe these links can help to achieve a full and speedy recovery:

Well not actually picked up the powerball since my last record on the 27th due to being so busy.
I went to Matts ready for a big session but we only had 30-45 mins as Matt was off down the pub (so i joined him).
Normally I'd need an hour to 90mins to hit peak scores. Well these are the results.
06/03/07 Speed: 12182 90s: 14728 30s: 5313
07/03/07 Speed: 12213 90s: 15128 30s: 5573
08/03/07 Speed: 12357 90s: 15235 30s: 5631
11/03/07 Speed: 12543 90s: 15171 30s: 5701 Metal: 10655
12/03/07 Speed: 12616 90s: n/a 30s: 5663 Metal: 10931
27/03/07 Speed: 12750 90s: n/a 30s: 5659 Metal: 10762
03/04/07 Speed: 12965 90s: 15058 30s: 5557 Metal: N/a
So i smashed my speed record with my biggest jump in score yet.
I got Matt to do exactly what i did in terms of 30s, 90s, speed runs as i feel i have a good idea of how to improve.
When i first broke my record by a little bit Matt also broke his by a bit (well quite a lot).
Then when i got my second record Matt went and smashed his BIG time. I'll let him post his scores up though.
Was nice though as it showed the technique works for not just me but others. 30s and 90s sessions are essential is the bottom line.
Hopeing for 13K at the live event now.
Nice work James, is cool to see a big 13k score staring back at you from your non-dominant hand. I reckon you'll be experiencing that in the next couple of days.

A marathon session with Matt produced some awesome results both LH and RH tonight.
Left Hand first
06/03/07 Speed: 12182 90s: 14728 30s: 5313
07/03/07 Speed: 12213 90s: 15128 30s: 5573
08/03/07 Speed: 12357 90s: 15235 30s: 5631
11/03/07 Speed: 12543 90s: 15171 30s: 5701 Metal: 10655
12/03/07 Speed: 12616 90s: n/a 30s: 5663 Metal: 10931
27/03/07 Speed: 12750 90s: n/a 30s: 5659 Metal: 10762
03/04/07 Speed: 12965 90s: 15058 30s: 5557 Metal: N/a
04/04/07 Speed: 12954 90s: n/a 30s: 5757 Metal: 11045
So i broke 11K on the metal, and i broke my 30s record and my speed was pretty close to my record.
Also did some work with my RH. Before tonight I hadn't got over 14K since i broke my thumb.
Tonight I got LOTS of runs over 14K, topping off at 14480, so getting back to some form now. Hopefully after my holiday (I go in a week for 2 weeks) I will be back to full fitness and pushing for 15K once more.
Thanks again Matt for an awesome night, they really help us with records.

Well got my new balls today as you may know. I spun one of the 250hz pro for 500K revs to get it broken in. Below are my results after that. I'm sure this will be a long list and it is probably more for my own interest than others, but here it is anyway. Highlights are in bold

Phone then suddenly went and was on it for an hour, went to try again and I couldn't do much, so the session was cut short, but a fairly good session for me.

Nice session there, looks like you're already back in shape and way ahead of me again in most categories.
You said something about your 90s score disappearing from the scoreboards? There's a 16k score there, but I can't find any 17k submissions. Send me the 17333 image, (if you took one), and I'll sort it. :)

Being an idiot i didn't even take a picture. If you put my 17240 score up that will be fine for now. I know that i can break 17500 once i'm back from the US anyway so not too fussed about getting my 17333 score up there.

I have no doubts, that you can get this 15K score you just have to really feel confident and then just relax, let the ball run smoothly, new balls do help:) but you for sure should be the next 15K spinner and it would be great if that was in the top 10. Look forward to seeing your name there come on do buddy!
Fingers crossed

Here's your (Rx) prescription, James:
-Take 2 90s runs when you are rested and relaxed.
-Rest a few minutes
-Take 1 speed run to see how you are doing.
-Take 1 30s if your arm is not pumped up enough for speed. (Repeat if necessary).
-Rest a few minutes
-Go all out for speed for at least the next hour until you have the symptoms of being a 15k-er.
Side effects may be multiple 15k scores, the desire to keep breaking your new record, exhilaration, excitement, being drenched in sweat, and the incredible feeling of being No. #10 on the scoreboard and part of the 15k club! ;) :D
Now go, James! I know you can do this already. :)
Always Powerballing,

Here's your (Rx) prescription, James:...

Well was a fairly good session i guess. I certainly got the best scores yet since breaking my thumb, so guess I can't complain. Also still lacking energy from jetlag, but gave it about a 1 hour session anyway.
My best 90s was appaling, only 16,5**, I put that down to the lack of energy as I just couldn't sustain any great speed.
Similarly my 30s runs weren't great, but did get 6408 which was respectable.
Metal used once and just gave up with only 10,003 lol.
As for speed though, LH I got a best of exactly 13,000, only the 3rd time I've broken the 13K barrier LH, so fairly pleased.
As for the all important RH I got 14689, so just 199rpm short of my best, so not to bad i guess, physcologically (sp?) thought 14700 would have been nice.
I did though break one record, and by quite a long way. My Dual run jumped from 25626 upto 26384, a jump of 758rpm :D Picture below and video.

Well done mate, that pips me down a spot on the Dual-Hand league, but I'll be posting 28k soon, you wait! ;)
It was a shame you couldn't have a session immediately after your 13.9k cold. I had a cold spin today, just after work. 13.7k 250Hz and 12k Metal! Those are actually my best ever cold spins...and I didn't have a session afterwards either. (Silly me, I could've added 1000 to either when warmed up I reckon! :( )
Well done James, nice mini-sesh all things considered.
And a new record out of it, to boot. ;):D
I personally find cold spins can be a little misleading as to how I'm likely to perform once warmed up for a 'proper' sesh.
I've scored 13.8k's and 13.9k's cold before now and done little better in the following sesh.
Then conversely I have also done pretty poor cold spins, barely able to break 13k and sometimes not at all, and gone on to set records.
Cold spins, for me at least, can be just a bit too random to make any predictions for a subsequent sesh. :o

Well just got back from Matts and had a good session.
I did some very avergae scores early on in the low 14Ks (14252 was best). Then i did a 30s run of 6409 and had a 5 minute rest, then BANG 14819!!! was amazed, and so early on in the session, i was worried/excitred i might break 15K with no way of recording it.
Sadly though I couldn't improve on it, I got lots of 14.6K+ scores though. Surprised i didn't improve as it was only 30 mins into the session and usually i'd have anohter step up, but amybe still havn't got enough energy back for that. This does give me real hope that 15K could come very soon, maybe in the next week or so, but who knows, I was just pleased to break 14.8K again.
Nice encouraging scores James.
15k is beckoning.....

Well a good session in some ways, but not in others.
I started off and it was looking good, I was scoring over 14.5K within 15 mins, so was very confident of scoring 14.8K+ . Did a few 30s runs of respectable levels (6400-6500).
Then i did a 90s run, and broke my best by 300rpm, plus it was a very controlled 90s.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v256/Tstering/1767290s.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v256/Tstering/th_1767290s_NEW.jpg (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v256/Tstering/?action=view¤t=1767290s_NEW.flv)

But after that run it seemed to have damaged my powerball in the same way all my balls seem to get damaged. I don't know exactly what happens, but they suddenly won't accelerate anymore, and i have no idea why.
I now have 4 250Hz balls that just won't accelerate properly. I can get them upto 13 maybe 13.5K if i really bust a gut but just won't get any quicker. There is no vibration or anything, just a feeling it is slipping or something. So I am yet again in a situation where I don't have a working 250Hz pro. It has taken me only 1 week basically to break 2 250Hz pros, and I have no idea why. I guess it is my technique, but i just can't work out what happens to them. GRRRRR

Oh, and my metal ball is just them same, just won't accelerate :( Really upsetting because I have no idea what is wrong with them. TO post them all back to Irelnd to get fixed won't be cheap, plus i'm sure they won't be to keen to recieve my total of 7 broken balls :(

this sounds pretty weird. Have you checked them out properly inside? I've had to replace a few rotors because they wouldn't reach top speed anymore, but that was because they had developed cracks and started to vibrate at higher speeds, which you are saying isn't the case with any of yours. Apart from the Support band wearing out completely or the rotor developing vibrations I can't imagine what else could actually go wrong with a powerball. Instead of shipping them all back to Ireland for repairs ask if they could send you some replacement parts that you could swap out of the broken PBs. A new rotor, support band, washers etc. This may help you trouble shoot the problem.
Nice scores btw, 15k really is just around the corner, good luck with it :)

Well i got 1 ball working again. The total session was close to 4 hours, but feel really good from it. Got LOADS of scores from 14.5K - 14.7K, nothing amazing but was actually quite nice to do it SOOO consistently.
Having now powerballed HARD for 3 days straight going to take a day or 2 off (may do some LH ONLY work though) and then really go for it. When is the next live event, as would be good to coincide with that.

I was working farily hard though it all. Had a 15-20 min break in the middle when i was trying to fix my powerballs, but other than that I didn't really stop. Worked up a hell of a sweat. SHould have weighed myself before and after as i reckon i lost 1/2 a pound lol.
Yeah I sweat up a good load during a sesh too.
Have to make sure I have something to drink handy to keep topping up.
Good work there James, get your PB's sorted and 15k will come I'm sure.

HI Tstering,
I had the same experience with one of my 250 balls.
It went from being my record ball in one session to only manage around 13.5k with it the nest session.
I opened it several times before I noticed tiny cracks in a couple of the fins.
I had to use magnifying glass in very good light in order to discover them.

Sounds typical of me. I'll be all worried that my ball isnt running right, and frantically take it apart, clean it, and pop it back together(all the while my arms are shaking vigorously). It's a wonder I still have all my small parts accounted for.
About your rotor. This has happened to me multiple times, where it feels "slippery" and is very hard to accelerate. Like Wildthunder said, it is likely just cracks in the fins.

strange that you feel that as slippery, wherever I get cracked rotor fins the ball feels kinda slow and resistive at higher revs, buzzing away as if you were trying to spin it through jello or something like that. It is hard to accelerate but i'd never seen it as "slippery". Do you guys not experience any high frequency buzzing and vibration when you have this problem?

hmm, I have noticed something kinda similar when there was a large buildup of fine white dust on the tracks. This reduced the friction between the axels and the track I guess and made it harder to accelerate the ball. But something like that would be easy to see and fix. Did RPM say anything about what may have been wrong with the balls that you sent back for repairs?

Most of the time there is that vibration, but a couple of times it's felt like what I described on a broken rotor. It may have been a mixture of cracked fins and debris buildup inside however.
I found my metal impossible to start after I cleaned it once constant slipping unable to acclerate at all. After I replaced the support ring it made a massive difference. The holes in the ring were nearly three times the size. Do your holes on the 250 get really large that may be why. I've never had a cracked rotor that slipped it always vibrated and coudn't accelerate
Tstering

Yeah, i think that is my problem. I increase the size of the holes on the support band quite quickly. Must be the technique i use.

Well full story.
I was only planning on a mild session after my 2 days of rest, wanting to get 14.5K then stop so i was in top form for the live event tomorrow.
Well I warmed up as normal. Did a speed run and got 14.2K, good, but not necessarily amazing. Also LH got 12.8K which was preety amazing.
After one speed run on each hand did a 90s (BH) and got 16,1** so really very very poor. Had a 3 min rest then went for a LH speed and broke my record with a score of 13163!!! Was amazed. SO i thought lets try my RH.
BANG 14.7K, usually that takes a LONG session to get to, so tried again and got 14.7K again. Now i was excited. (and totally forgot about my LH from that point onwards sadly). Did 2 more speed runs with camera on but only 14.3 and 14.4K runs.
Did a RH 30s run with a dodgy ball (30s runs often damage my balls, and didn't want to use my best powerball) and got 6104, so not great but as i said, a dodgy ball.
Took a small rest then it all went made. 15138!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was amazed, and like most the other 15Kers said, it really didn't seem that hard.
I posted here and was SOOO excited. Did a few more runs getting some high 14.9Ks but then used my brain and stopped. Today was a warm up day, so i left it as such. Was there more to come??? I think so, but today was a warm up. Tomorrow i should in theory do better, but who knows.
Anyway, enough rambling. Here is the photo/video & graph.

Woah Dude your so unlucky there. 15.5K seemed inevitable looking at the powerballyzer.
Looking at your run and graph more closely you seem to spin it to about what score you got (15100-15200) then you went up a gear to 15.5K and if you would have held that for a fraction longer I'm sure you would have had a 15.5K score for definite. You sure have a well recorded bad luck with these counters.
Total Congrats buddy, hopefully more scores to come. Now we have 2 15K UK powerballers. :D

I really am convinced it isn't the counters but how my microphone records the sound now. Having tested with 5-6 different counters over several months all my graphs show a score higher than that on the counter. Ofcourse i could just keep getting unlucky, but it is now so consistent i think it is the recordings.

Whoa, James!
I was running the video through powerballalyzer too, and it looks like you touched the "magic gear" (15,500+) but yet again, your counter seemed to short you out of the higher score.
At the speed you were getting, I'm beginning to reconsider who might make it to 16k next. It might not be Jez, Bjorn, or me. ;)
What has amazed me the most about your record is that you prefer to sit down instead of standing. I wonder what would happen if you stood up. Have you ever try it that way?
Once again great score, James!

I wish you good luck for live competition. I have to work, and I still have the connection issues, so I haven't been able to participate. Hi James, I've actually thought of this once I saw that you hit 15k. I did it for Jez, and I'll do it for you too. It would be unkind for me to post a higher score until next month since you have not won the prize yet with a 15k score.
If I get 16k before the end of the month, I will announce the miracle, but I may forget somehow to submit the video until June 1st. ;)
I can't be too sure what Jez, Bjorn, Pako, Hakan, Alex, Mark, and Jarkko are going to do, however. And, of course, Akis might come back into action too. You never know. ;)

I have doubt that too sometimes, when I've looking your graphs. If you have another microphone, you could test it just to record simultaneously with them and then compare the graphs.
Oh btw, nice score.

well whatever happened to you in the past concerning unlucky counter glitches and whatever. This was one hell of a run and having analysed it, it seems that if you have held onto that little burst of extra speed in the middle of the run for a little longer that the counter really should have registered closer to 15.5. But then again it could all be down to your microphone as you said and that burst of speed was "only" what brought you above 15k in the first place.
Get a new mic and see if anything changes.
But counter errror or not, congrats. Fantastic score :D

Bloody heck mate, coming back so quickly from a broken thumb to smash through the 15k barrier is an awesome achievement...well done. (And there we were, a couple or three months back, thinking you might make it to 15k for the Championship! You might be at 16k by then!!!)
If you're going to make it to the chat tonight, have you got that TeamSpeak thingy? It would mean that others could listen to and analyse your scores there and then. (Though if you think it's your microphone skewing the sound then I guess it would do that for everyone.) Does seem weird that the Analyser always shows an extra 400 or 500 revs for you.
Anyway, great achievement. Time to Pako to come back, as you beat him by just a couple of revs! ;)
EDIT: By the way, I've realised why the link you put in your score submission never works. The admin form only allows a certain number of characters, and it always appears as http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v256/Tstering/?action=view, missing the all important video name. I'll see if I can grab the video file itself and put it on the Scoreboard, or if you could send it to Scoreadmin that'd be cool.
"GET IN!!" ;)
P.S. Definitely 15.5k, but your short burst over that barrier was too short for the counter to register I think.

Though really want to hit 18K
It's easy...just do loads and loads of speed runs and aim to hit 12k, or just above. When you get that pitch of the whine well and truly into your head, do some runs where you keep it going at that speed for 10 seconds or so, doing it alternately with right, then left. You'll see just how easy it is (for someone of your ability) to keep it going at that speed for longer and longer periods.
Then just concentrate really hard on maintaining that speed over the 90s run, without being too tempted to push the speed up too much. I bet that by the end, after 2 or 3 changeovers, you'll not be that worn out and 18k will be on your counter. :)

Thanks for the advice Tim. Always appreciated.
My problem is when i do 30s and 90s runs it for some reason seems to damage the support bands. So the balls some times suddenly slow down mid run, not by a lot, but by 500rpmish and that ruins my score.
As i currently only have 1 perfect running ball I don't want to damage it so am not doing 30s and 90s runs on it.

I think what gave it away to me was there was no 'Get in there!!!!' from James, although like you Adrena1in l had no reason to query the score, mind you sitting down and getting that score would have been flippin impressive!!!

Send me a PM then, James.
My curiosity is pricked, and I wanna know!! ;):D
BTW, we had a convo about cheating at metal in another thread.
Nett result was that nobody was gonna get away with doing it on decent scores because of needing video with sound to back up submission which can be analyzed to corroborate the score.

A long time ago I tried something, (a modification to a Powerball), and at the time my record was 14214. With the mod I straight away hit 14400 exactly! Removed the mod and my next score was 13.9k. (No kidding, I could perhaps hit 15k with the mod now!)
I only told two people, (plus Rory and Enda), what I'd done, because I didn't want others trying it. So yes, don't say what you did James, but well done, it did fool me. I'll have to be extra careful when approving scores now! :o

It's ok Tim, i won't tell anyone what i did, even via PM (sorry Skyler and One-eye). Not because i don't trust anybody here, but the safest way is to not tell ANYONE.
The thing with this cheat is i'm sure an analysis should back up the score (though not actually done a graph to check), so don't want to explain it as it may easily fool the admins.

Theres a thing on the counter where the score you last spun shows up again when you spin. I've got a new record then stopped it dead, span it again and it flashed. But you'd obviously have to get the score first to make this happen.
Tstering
04-05-2007, 17:52
Thats very true. I realised this could be done ina dual run to give a fake score,a dn evenm analysing would be difficult due to the 2 sounds.
This wouldn't work with metal though as you can hear the sound and analyse it properly.

Theres a thing on the counter where the score you last spun shows up again when you spin.
This is why I like to see the counter before and after each spin, WHILE the rotor is already spinning.
There are lots of possibilities. I once saw someone do a spin, (about 12k, if that), then off-camera he must've switched to the first mode. He covered the icon as he showed 14.2k on the digits. Sneaky!

I was expecting to do much today. Having played Rugby 7s yesterday i was in a lot of pain with a pulled muscle in my left shoulder, right calf and right abdomen (Rugby 7s really is a great game, but p[ushed you to the limit lol)
I thought i'd just do some gentle powerballing as i'd had 3 days off just to get my muscles loosten, and would then have a proper session tomorrow or Tuesday.
Well as it happened, my first speed run was 14,5**, which amazed me.
So i did a 90s and got an ok score (low 17K). Then i thought i'd try some Ed tech (I have always been rubbish at it, till now). First attempt got me 17898, breaking my olf 90s record easily.
Then i did speed and got lots of 149** scores, and the i hit 15122 (16rpm short of record), which is only the 2nd time i've broken 15K.
Then i went for another Ed tech 90s and got 18135, so pleased to beat 18K.
Sadly my speed didn't get any better, only a few more 14.9K runs and then dropped off from tiredness.
Below is video/photo/graph of my new 90s record.

Great job, James!
It's always great to hit the 15k again for the second time. It indicates that you are reaching new levels. Now that you are getting past the mental, you find that you will have sessions where hit 15k numerous times. It usually depends on what type of hot-mode you push yourself towards. Too many 90s runs will definitely take the energy out of you, but you made a great 18K 90s score.
Makes me wonder if I should try some ed-tech too! ?

I'm sure it will get there though.Of course it will. If I can do 14k left hand then you certainly can. I'm also working mine a bit harder at the moment. (Any idle spinning I do I do 90% with my left.) Problem is, as soon as it gets to a proper session I just want to produce good scores, so I do almost everything with my right. Got a free evening tonight so I might just have a left-only session.
James, I found what brought my left hand on was doing more dualies.
Try to keep your hands as synchronised as possible, don't worry about the score too much and try not to let your right hand 'lead', if you know what I mean.
Really helps bring on the coordination and speed.
During a 'sesh', I also try to alternate single hand speed runs between LH & RH rather than just concentrating on one hand or the other.
I'd really like to see what you can do on dualies when your lefty catches up ;):D

I think it is down to the diet i just started. I think my body is getting use to not having all the sugar/caffine it was use to so is lacking in energy. Hopefully once it has adjusted though the new healthier diet will actually help me get better scores (they certainly can't get much worse)
It'll come James, just a little plateau on your upward curve.
;):D
I agree. It's all in the head now. You've hit 15k so stop thinking about it. Start aiming for 15.5k every time and you should get closer.

Stuff the diet James!!
Neck a couple of deep fried Mars bars and give it some stick!!

Could be the diet, could just have been an off day.
Either way, you'll be on top form again another day so don't worry yourself about a not-so-good sesh. :)
I agree. There is nothing like chocolate just before the session, and some pieces of chocolate as reward on each increase in the score are nice t00 ;-)
When I break my records, I have also done my previous meal (4 or 5 hours before) eating lentils or beans. :D

Well the sessions just keep getting worse.
At the live event on Monday i again only got 1 14.6K.
Tonight though after some good rest I got only 2 14.4K scores and the rest 14.1K-14.3K. Left hand isn't much better. I got a 12.8K a 12.7K and rest sub 12.5K. I really seem to be losing something. It doesn't feel very natural at all any more, really does feel forced. I'm sure i will come through it, but soooo frustrating. Was hopeing to push on and close the gap to Duane and Jez.
I did get a new 90s LH record of 15,876, so that's something I guess.
I feels yer pain I haven't touched my balls:D in 5 days my next session better be good or i'll be very sad:(

unfortunately a long rest isn't always going to guarantee you a great session when you pick it up again. I rested for nearly 2 weeks and had a session yesterday where my scores where pretty poor. Highest I got was only 13.8k score and the rest were 13.6 and below :(.
Hopefully you will have more luck :D

Well as i'm annoyed i thought lets try something new and do reverse spinning.
Now i've not done it before bar the odd spin which proved it felt totally unnatural.
My best RH was about 9K and LH 7K, but as i said rarely done it, maybe 6 times in 6 months.
So this is how the scores progressed (only showing when i beat previous record)
LH:7382, 7604, 7635, 7885, 8619, 9253 and a 30s 3340
RH:9158, 9474, 9741, 9805, 9912, 10410, 10547, 10797, 11113, 11257, 11563 and a 30s 4460.
So really quite poor speeds, but it is what i'm going to spend a month doing. It really works out different muscles in the arms aswell which is a nice feeling.
I'mnot giving up on my normal direction, rather just giving it a rest for a while. This new direction has given me new motivation that i was lacking.

Ouch, that reverse direction stuff sure is tough eh? Good that you found new inspiration in it. I have been there and done that so I know how you feel. By now perhaps I'm in need of another revival of reverse scores. :)
Stick with it James, you're just going through an off patch.
Do you think that maybe you ought to injure yourself again? J/K ;)
After your forced Powerballing holiday with your busted thumb, you came back like a force of nature.
Seemed like you really had something to prove. Not just to us, but to yourself. And, sure enough, you knocked out that 15k score you were so hungry for.
So much of this Powerballing stuff is in the head, try not to put too much pressure on yourself to get over 15k.
If you keep spinning you'll be scoring big again.
We've all had this situation at sometime, you push past a big milestone score (be it 12k, 13k, 14k or even 15k) and you think you have it cracked but it can be weeks before your technique fully settles in to that new scoring bracket.
I feel for you mate.
The reverse spinning thing should be good for you, help remove any pressure you're putting on yourself to perform.
I know you can do it again, just a matter of time.

Day 2 of reverse spinning went as such.
Speed RH:12,717 (up 1,154 revs) LH:11,691 (up 2,438 revs)
30S:RH 5,258 (up 798 revs) LH:4,180 (up 820 revs)
So some nice big jumps. Still feels really unatural, but better than before. I wish i could always increase my speeds like that :D Hopefully i can start to push my reverse scores to similar levels as my normal, and maybe, like Tim, past my old scores.

I made fairly quick improvements when I switched to Reverse direction spinning. Your brain already knows what needs to be done, so it's quite quick for your muscles to re-learn the motions. I was a few months from 10k to 13k, (would've been a lot quicker if I did 100% in Reverse), and then in three sessions, in about the space of a month, I went from 13069 to 14076. :)
I do some reverse spinning most sessions and most other times when I'm just idly spinning.
Good to exercise different muscles a bit.

Well I not powerballed now (reverse or normal) for about 2 weeks. Partly due to being frustrated and then partly due to the fact i was in hospital last week with burns (long story).
Going to give it a go again tonight. No idea how well I will do but should be interesting. If i can get 14.5K I'll be mildly pleased, and anything 14.7K+ and i'll be well chuffed. Not convinced I'll break 14K though if i'm honest.
Best of luck . I'm in the middle of a two week sabbatical myself so I will be interested to see how it works out. Hope you kill it (score not ball)

Hi buddy
Seriously put the ball away and chill out things will get back to normal and you will wonder what all the fuzz was all about. I know from my point of view that l have had times when l think the ball is busted but reality is l am just having a sub zero session. I think my longest was about 10 days and then you wonder whether you can get back to where you left off. I know it is frustrating but it will pass the worse thing to do is get stressed over it. If it helps just play around with the balls and have some experimentation just don't let it get to your mind, cos you will get in a rut, trust me this 16K is really getting to me.

Thanks for the grats. I'll give you a little run down on why i been so quiet etc and how i got back to the 15K+ speeds.
2 months ago not long after getting my record i decided to generally get a lot fitter and faster for my rugby as my team has now been promoted, and our 7s team won a few tournaments last year and has now been invited to overseas tournaments so we all going to have to be realy fit and quick.
After going onto my diet I seemed to loose all ability at the powerball. First only getting 14.7K, then 14.5K till even 14K was a real struggle. After lots of frustration i decided just to stop for a month (though i admit i used occasionally, and for live events).
2 weeks ago i'd managed to get a lot fitter and lost a stone in weight and so changed my diet to more energy based foods. So idecided to pick the powerball back up. First session and i was hitting 14.5K+ again, so I knew I was on the way back up.
Over the next 2 weeks I was improving nearly every session till on Monday night i hit 14.9K.
Knowing we had the live competion on Tuesday I got a massage about 3 hours before it (I get them once a fortnight anyway, I just changed the day to coincide with the competition) as i know they help lossen my muscles.
At the competetion I only had 1 hour as i had to leave at 7pm GMT to go sprint training. As such I concentrated totally on speed, only doing the odd 90s/30s run to help with speed. I hit 13.5K from cold, then hit 14K after 1 90s run. From there hit 14.3k i think. Then I did a hard 30s and then hit 14.6K. Built up to about 14.7K then did another 90s. After that I hit 14.8K, then several 14.9Ks then finally popped over 15K literally 5 mins before i Had to leave. I don't know if I could have gone faster, i think not, but was a good session.
Also I got 12999 LH, very frustrating as been a while sonce 13K LH.
I going to start training hard on my powerball again as I really want to firstly get into the world top 5, and then secondly try to close the massive 500rpm gap there seems to be to get into the world top 4.
I'll keep you up dated on my scores from now on.
James

I sometimes wish I had something to push me into getting fitter overall. Don't belong to any sports clubs anymore, so the only reason would be personal gain, and that's not enough incentive sometimes!

Hmm, well an odd night for me.
Started on metal and got 12063 on 2nd run. Then did 90s metal and after that i couldnt beat 11.5K metal. No idea why i stuggle with metal.
Then picked up plastid, first run 14.5K then 14682 2nd run. I assume 14.8K would be easy tonight after those 2 run. Alas no. I did an ultimate run whcih was ok, but after that best speed i could do was 14.2K!!!!
On Bjorns advice i did a 30s run, and i hit 6735!!!! over 100 over my record. I couldnt believe it.
Then back to speed and did 1 run of 14K then all the rest under 14K.
So not really sure what was going on. Was really happy with the 30s and really unhappy with speed. Bit of an odd one really. But atlest some improvement.

Grrr, you beat my 30s score last night by 20 rpm!  ;)
Next time you have a session with the Metal try this.
1) Don't do a Metal strength run first. I've done 90s runs in the past and then not been able to do a good speed run afterwards because the rotor's been slipping a lot, much like what you had yesterday. Don't know why it does this though.
2) Do several Plastic 30s runs of around 6500...13k rpm.
3) Do about a dozen 13k speed runs with the Plastic.
(2 and 3 will get your arm into 13k speed mode.)
4) After a little rest go with the Metal, BUT, don't try to accelerate it too quickly. The extra weight makes it resistant to bursts of speed I think, and if you try and wind it up too fast it'll resist and slip.
If I can do 13k Metal then you DEFinitely can too.
Tstering
16-08-2007, 09:26
Ok Tim. I will try to do exactly that tonight.
I think my problem is my technique is very agressive and i force the ball to accelerate very rapidly. This is fine with the plastic, but as you've said, the metal does seem to 'slip'.
I will see what happens.

Well, I had no plans ona proper session tonight what so ever. Had a bad cold last few days so was going to have an early night.
I was playing poker online and doing the odd spin. Realised I was hitting over 14K with ease so thought i'd just do some speed runs.
Well from there onwards it all went a bit mad. I did nothing except RH speed and this is how my session went
14482, 14289, 14378 ,14530, 14617, 14689, 14686, 15048, 14649, 14907, 14460, 14579, 14400, 14638, 14528, 15172, 14482, 14331, 14655, 15090, 14832, 14065, 14968, 90 18345, 14984, 14568
Considering in total before tonight I'd only broken 15K 3 times (i think) and never more than once in a night this was an incredible session. Also I havn't hit over 14.8K in ages, so this was an insane jump. Really couldn't quite believe it.
Once i was done i decided to just do one 90s Ed tech with my RH to see how i could do, and this smashed my 90s record aswell. It was rubbish technique due to me only using my RH tonight so the few spins I gave my LH were rubbish. Still another record none the less.
Videos for both my records below.

James thats awesome!!
Hitting 15K more then once in a session is a quality held by the very few! It's weird how these unplanned sessions bring the big records!
Anyway onwards and upwards from here and I'm sure you'll break it numerous times before the Maplin UK Championship!

Thanks Pete. I really hope i can push on up from this point and try and close the gap on Jez. Before i worry about closing that gap though i want to try and first become a concistent 15Ker. I've always suddenly fallen back about 400rpm each time i've reached 15k. Hopefully not this time though.

I've always suddenly fallen back about 400rpm each time i've reached 15k. Hopefully not this time though.
I've found this as well, I reached 14K and then there was a dip in scores. I had to work at it to get back on track and to 14260. So hopefully you'll maintain this and as I know your well capable of being a consistent 15Ker! :)
Awesome work mate, well done.
Congrats T!!, that are magnifics score..., I hope to catch 15k some day :D
congrats bro :D its seems that it was worth it... as in getting the result sooner than later (cant remember that expression fix me if im wrong!)
well, it seems that you shouldnt give your 120% at a session, ive found it out today when Ive got into shower... I gave about 60% before I went to the shower room for about 1 hour... I like powerballing for no target, so then without even noticing Ive got into the shower and my speed ran up pretty fast from 10600 to 11300ish, I got pretty sweaty so I took my shirt off and used towel to clean up any oily or sweaty locations from my hands and ball, and then Ive been steaming and popped 11k's without any effort at all, but my hands got raped off, so try somtime warming up, then before you go to shower give all you got with cleaning the ball every run for max grip and ease and aim high... you wont regret it :D
Regards,
Ron
Many congratulations Tstering:D :D :D It seems you've mastered the technique of 15k and i won't be surprised if you soon get a score of 15.5k;)

Anotehr good session tonight. I was a little tired, so made it a short session. But I did manage to break 15K again during it, so becoming a bit more consistent. Also broke my dual record. SO I've broken, all 4 major records (250hz Speed, 90s, Dual and Metal) in the last 2 weeks.

Heeyy! Congrats!!! Did you wash your hands? :D
Tstering
06-11-2007, 22:52
Yes i washed my hands, atleast 10 seperate times during the 75 minute session.
Ok here is the run down. I was meant to be rugby training tonight, but just before i left i picked up my 2nd best powerballs and had 1 run and got 14325 cold, i thought that was quite good so picked up by no1 PB and then scored 14752. I was amazed, so i binned off rugby training to powerball.
I had to make it a short session as i still had to get to rugby for the end of the session to open the bar up (i run the bar there). So i only had 75 minutes to powerball.
During the session i used 3 different balls. 1 is by best the other 2 are much newer and need working in still, hence why my scores look like they jump up and down quite a bit. But i want to have 3 balls that are capable of 15K+ scores.
As you will see my last run of the session was actually my best, and i feel if i hadnt had to run off and had maybe an hour or 2 more i could have increased it further. Alas it will have to wait untill Thursday now to see if I can do any better.
Here are my RH speed results for the session (i did do 90s/30s runs inbetween)
14325, 14752, 14458, 14652, 14342, 14507, 14620, 15031, 14738, 14601, 14854, 13818??, 14671, 14000, 15090, 14859, 14795, 14541, 14318, 15139, 14655, 14491(screamer), 15278
Video of record is here

Awesome Tstering!
I played a bit with my neon today, and did only 13.9k :( I will rest from powerball until next week.. I hope I can resist :p

I'm going to have a day off tomorrow then have a real full on session (2-4hours) on Thursday. I've always wanted to be in the top 5, and i've never quite done it. THis is the closest i've ever got though, so hope I can do it.
You are really getting on a hot mode trajectory in view of the competition Tstering. Well done!
(It seems you've adopted Jez style :-)

Very nice session there James, I can only only dream of scores like that at the moment. My session today was hopeless, even by my standards.

Yeah i noticed that aswell. I decided quite a while ago (when i was doing badly) to change from sitting down to standing up, as a soon realised standing up would probbly give me the most speed. It has taken me a long time to master the technique but it is all coming together now.
Also my new training methods are working really well. I really feel I could push on to atleast 15.5K now in the next couple of weeks.
I keep meaning to congratulate you but every time I log on you've got a new record. So I'll just get in early and say well done on 15.5k. Awesome work:rolleyes:

...well done on 15.5k. Awesome work:rolleyes:
That was the first message I read in here, and I was thinking, "What, what, WHAT!?!?!", but then realised LTLFTC was being pre-emptive.
Still, 15278 is awesome James, well done mate...you're really wanting to challenge Jez aren't you, and at this rate I think many people, including Jez himself, are thinking it's not going to be a foregone conclusion on December the 15th after all.
Way to go!!

07-11-2007, 11:57
Thanks Tim.
I'd still put money on Jez winning on December 15th, but I just want to make those odds a little bit smaller if i can. If i can get to 15.5K by December then it will atleast put some pressure on him.
well done, Tstering.
but.. how do you handle Neons? Do you feel much difference?
I guess your score at Maplin was done with a bad powerball... 13.6k is very low for u :p

Yeah the ball i used at maplins was broken but they were out of stock so had no choice but to use the broken ball.

Just watched the video by the way...very solid technique there. You can really see how you start by thrashing your arm up and down quite quick, but then how the movements get smaller as you pin that Powerball down and drive more revs out of it.
I predict 15.6k within 10 days. ;)
Tstering
07-11-2007, 17:00
I'm also quite pleased with my technique. It is all about accelerating it very quickly and then trying to almost get the hand to not move but drive the rest of my body. It really is quite satisfying at the moment to be able to break 15K several times in a session.
15.6K in 10 days. Hmmm, i doubt it somehow, but then again your predictions have a way of coming true. Hope this one does.

Nice one AGAIN Tstering!
Man it's gonna be good watching you and Jez go at it at Telford, if you really stay focused this month I really think you could give Jez a good run for his money, literally!
Like you I changed from sitting down to standing up and I stuck at it as well, which I'm now pleased at doing like you will be. Anyway the only way is up, go UK! :D
 Wow  Very well done Tstering:D I'm 100% sure soon we'll see a video of you getting 15.5k;) :D

Well a nice long session. This time 2 1/2 hours. Wanted to go longer like Akis does but my hand became to sore. My muscle were happy enough ton continue, but need to hardened my hands up more for long session.
47 speed runs in total with 13 over 15K. Also set a new record of 15282 but won't botehr uploading the video as it is such a little improvement. I'm sure i'll break it by more in the next week or so. Still, my best session to date, never had so many 15K+ runs.
Hand hurts like hell though now. Hopeign to do another exhausting session tomorrow and then have 3 days off and see what happens on Monday.
13957, 13991, 13840, 14225, 13716, 14536, 14523, 11954???, 14556, 10922???, 14453, 14762, 14508, 14879, 15186, 12002??, 14363, 14738, 14211, 14477, 14711, 15165, 15244, 14073, 15109, 14676, 13901, 14590, 15208, 14681, 14724, 15046, 15018, 14889, 15130, 14984, 15073, 15282, 14799, 14704, 15183, 14867, 14642, 15166, 15192, 14839, 14716.
Also almost got 2 other balls almost up to 15K+ standard now. One is on 14879 and the other on 14867 despite me dropping in 4ft onto a solid kitchen floor. Amazed i didnt damage it.

After 3 days straight powerballing a 4th day was just to much. I just had ne speed atall. I hit 15K just once, and after only 45 mins my scores had dropped to 14.5K.
Time to have some rest i think.
