Hello All,
As you may or may not know, I like doing one hour runs with my metal powerball at five minutes per hand, and I'm quite picky about making sure I keep to the five minutes per hand (I sit with the stopwatch on my phone infront of me), and recording the number of revs every ten minutes into an ever growing excel document to see how I'm doing, using the rev counting mode of the counter of course.
A few days ago I thought I'd try for 500,000 revs in the hour at 30 seconds per hand, let's just say I soon realised that was never going happen, it didn't help that I ripped two great chunks of skin clean off my fingers either.
So anyway, does anyone else do any one hour runs on the metal?
If not and you fancy giving it a go, I'd love to see other peoples scores.
If I get any scores I'll post them here as mini scoreboard type thing;
1. Adrena1in | 495,100 revs | 8251 rpm | (30 sec/hand)
2. LTLFTC __| 427,900 revs | 7131 rpm |
3. BarryBPL _| 393,300 revs | 6555 rpm | (30 sec/hand)
4. BarryBPL _| 358,200 revs | 5970 rpm | (5 min/hand)
5. BarryBPL _| 266,700 revs | 4445 rpm | (5 min/hand) (my worst ever)
Thanks,
--Barry.
Hi Barry, Endurance like that is fun, problem is I get bored stiff after about 20 minutes. At 30 minutes still maintaining good speeds, but for me it's just not a lot of fun. You achieve good scores though.
Might give it a go once in a while Barry.
I'll let you know how I get on.:D

Since I split my "Speedometer" scoreboards in two, one for 250Hz and one for 350Hz, I've been meaning to register 20, 30 and 60 minute scores on the Metal. I'm not as specific about the time I go for with each hand, like you are...I just go until my muscles start to complain and then I swap...it's usually between 30 seconds and a minute. (I did try a 10-minute one-hand run once, (with a Plastic), and had to re-do my grip at least 4 times because my hand was just seizing up, so I certainly couldn't manage 5-minutes at a time.)
I'll do some scores soon and see how I get on. :)

Good idea :)
But i don't have a metal powerball :( Can you do one handed plastic runs?

Thanks for the replies, keep them coming, would be nice to see some scores too.
Jammy, I don't find it boring myself, maybe because I'm usually sat infront of the TV and just powerballing without really thinking about it, and I do these runs quite a lot so I'm just used to it I guess.
One-Eye, I look forward to seeing your score, even though you'll probably beat mine as all your other scores are higher than mine so far.
Adrena1in, I noticed the 350hz side of your split speedo was lacking any longer runs, you dont have try so hard your arms want to explode, just get some scores on the board :D . Maybe you find the 5-minutes per hand harder than me because you just push a lot harder than I do, if I do push a bit I soon have to slow down.
Pete, you don't have a metal powerball yet, but's just a matter of time and/or money isn't it? :D
Now what do you mean by one handed plastic runs?
Longest I've had a plastic going in one hand is an hour, but at the same time I had another plastic going in the other hand :)
--Barry.
Heh, wouldn't be so sure about me beating you that easily Barry.
My endurance efforts still need a lot more work.
It's an interesting challenge though and one which I'm looking forward to undertaking probably some time over the weekend.
;):D
Wat about adding some longer endurance stakes to the scoreboars. Some people are born sprinters, others can run 80km at a constant 3.5 min/km. I am thinking maybe 3 levels? Time it takes to complete 1000(00), 3000(00) and 5000(00) revs?
That's another way of looking at it.
I guess Barry would probably be up for the challenge.
There's no boards or rules about what you can and can't do on longer endurance sessions and if that's the way you want to do it then so be it.
Let us know how you get on.;):D
I may have a crack at some of those you suggested to help improve my endurance abilities.:)

I think you'd be much better off saying how many revs in an amount of time, rather that how long to do a set number of revs because you'd have to keep looking at the counter, and then would most likely go past it.
So 20 minutes, 30 minutes and 60 minutes, maybe.
Anyway, first up, how many revs in an hour with the metal...?

Well this is proving to be overwhelmingly unpopular, lol.
I've done 42 of these runs myself.
Oh well, as long as no one else has a go I guess that makes me number one in the world! :D
--Barry.
I promise as soon as I get a free hour with my metal I'll have a go No2 in the world will be a big incentive:D:D

Well this is proving to be overwhelmingly unpopular, lol.Don't worry, I tried to start a Dual-Hand 90s Endurance league, and that only had around 4 participants.
I've got a free day tomorrow so I might see what I can do to get the #1 spot myself! ;)

Once I get my right hand back in option I'll give this a go.

Just do it left hand only! :p

Now there is a challenge.
For me, i used to powerballin for an hour every session with 30 minute for each hand....unlike our fellow firends here, i don't count my revs. i just powerballin for build up my biceps(i hope)...hehe....:D

Finally got round to an hour with the Metal today. Started a bit slow really, doing 165,000 in the first 20 minutes. 246,500 by half an hour. Upped the pace a bit doing 248,600 in the final 30 minutes, which is going to be my 30-minute record, and 166,000 in the final 20 minutes...now my 20-minute record. (I think in the last ten minutes I was going my fastest!)
Total revs in one hour was 495,100. 8251.66 rpm average. About 30 seconds per hand I guess.
Quite a few blisters now. :o
You complete animal Tim.
Your hands must love you now.:p;):D

Hey Tim,
Well done on that, great score
Shame you didn't quite make the 500,000 revs but you're a hell of a lot closer than I am, the one time I tried 30sec/hand I blistered pretty badly and my speed soon dropped off.
Once you're recovered I'd love to see what you could do at five minutes per hand.
---
loligo,
If you regularly do a one hour session with the metal powerball it would be interesting if you could run it rev counting mode just to see how many you do.
---
Who's next to post a score? :D

It's really not that bad if you don't go too fast.
Sensational Tim my dreams of number 2 in the world havw been dashed. I'd better hurry up and get 3:(:(:(
Wow that was painful.:(
Sorry Barry but that isn't going to be part of my routine.
I can't believe you do that every day:eek::eek:
Anyway my one and only submission to this scoreboard is
427900
0-10min 61100
10-20 78300
20-30 74900
30-40 82000
40-50 66100
50-60 65500
I was on about 400000 pace at 30 min so I thought I would go hard for 10 big mistake. My hands a blister city.
And Barry if you wake during the night with something haggard and blistered around your neck it's my left hand it informe me it's out to get you;):p:D
My metal should be on its way in the post - when it arrives I don't think I will punish myself in the same way that you lot seem to enjoy doing!
Still intend to have a crack at this, sometime.....;):D

Next time I'll probably put gloves on, but my blisters have all gone now already. However, it did put a stop to any plans I had to do any more Powerballing over the weekend, which was a shame.
500,000 shouldn't be a problem next time. ;)
you could try some golf gloves, sure those helps.
i use good quality MTB gloves ( mountainbike ) and they work a treat and not bad grip-wise either.:D *cough* RPM should make PB gloves *cough*

i use good quality MTB glovesThat's what I used for the final 20 hours of my 24-hour marathon. They were great, but not tried them with the Metal yet.
