View Full Version : new ball
Hi,
I have just bought a new ball thinking that having learned and "worn" out the old ball, I would hit higher speeds now with fresh bearings, etc. Well I have discovered that the new ball has a different setup with an extra "bit" on the shaft and eventhough they weigh the same it certainly is slower. Do I have to "run it in" like some cars ????

Yes; what gives! I too just recieved a new powerball and it has a extra counter weight on the shaft. It doesn't go nearly as fast as my old one and it actually throughs the rythem of the spin off. I have seen about three powerballs now and none of them have this funky weight in them. It looks like it is part of the insides of an LED model but without the LEDS or circuit board. Can someone please explain this.

Hi guys
And thank you for your questions as always.
In this case, you have received the latest version of the 250Hz model range which has had the rotor support band uprated to help increase the products overall quality and life expectancy.
We were still receiving many questions each week about noise and roughness from our customers Powerballs and in each case, the culprit is as a result of not holding the ball firmly during use.
To counteract this effect, we worked on the rotor support band this time and after much testing, have settled on the metal disc you have seen on the new ball - a small but vital addition which adds even greater smoothness to the overall movement and a significant stability to the band during use of the ball to further enhance its ability to withstand wear and tear if not supported firmly while activated .
The down side of this is that while the ball will still reach speeds in excess of 15,000rpm, the extra weight on the rotor support band will mean that you will have to work just a little harder to get it there!
Don't be put off by this by the way - we have had some 14K+ scores here in the office using the new products so they definitely will reach those high speeds once you become familiar with the subtle difference in the movements.
Hope this helps!
