Hi GILPI,
Be sure to email enda@powerballs.com, describe in detail the issue you are having with your Powerball. Be sure to include the wording that is on the rubber band around the Powerball, and your mailing information. This way they can get you the parts you need.
Hopefully, you will be back in action again soon. :)
Always Powerballing,
Duane Cash

Hello everyone, what is the regular lifetime of a powerball?
my first one lived for only a month.
I then bought 2, and one of them is about to die.
Only gets to 8000 and sounds like a boeing 747, the same as the first PB.
Am I a powerball killer or every pb lasts for a month?
I read the tutorials, opened, cleaned it with dry cloth, and nothing..
Any help pls?

A Powerball should theoretically last for years.. it depends on use, care and technique to be honest. You will find that some Powerballers will go through a lot of parts, and others will rarely require parts.
In your case the most likely problem lies with your technique as a relatively new Powerballer - there is a big tendancy to shake your arm rather than rotating your wrist initially which causes damage to the support band.
The other common problem is with the Powerball being dropped and damaging the rotor or sphere halves.
I would suggest that you check for the following on your Powerball:
- a worn or damaged support band (white ring). Check especially for enlarged holes at the points where the support band holds the rotor axle.
- cracks in the rotor (yellow ball). These will generally at the point where the fins join the rotor.
- ruts in the sphere halves. If you see dents in the track of the support halves then you will get a knocking noise when using your Powerball.
If you do notice any damaged part, please email repairs@powerballs.com with a link to this thread.
Please also include the exact text from the grip-band of your Powerball in order that we can identify the model and your preferred shipping address for the replacement component.
Regards

thanks for your answer Edna.
I've checked the PB each time I opened it, and is *apparently* all OK.
The only thing that I notice is a relative huge amount of white plastic dust all around the rotor guides, but there is no visible damage in the support band, nor enlarged holes.
when I get home I'll do a more detailed inspection to see if there's any small break in the rotor.
It's quite frustrating since it takes me a month to kill a ball!
A last question, is the 350hz metal ball harder to break? I'm considering a shift to the metal one.

Problem found:
4 cracks in the rotor!
How is it possible to be broken since it didn't fall?
exactly my problem cracked rotor fins every single one, took care of it like a baby, never dropped it, never let it roll on a table or anything.....

I did exactly the same as you did... specially since my first one's death (In fact she worked till I opened her and use sandpaper on the rolling guides, I think she was alergic to paper )
Think it's like Enda and others have said previously.
A lot is down to technique which will obviously improve with time and practice.
New Powerballers haven't necessarily fully learned how to be 'smooth' yet.
An uneven, jerky/shaking motion can cause a lot of changes in the forces acting on a rotor travelling at speed which can cause excess wear, and even damage, to the rotor itself and other components of the Powerball.
Having been Powerballing for just over a month. I don't think I do too bad on technique now, not perfect but not too bad. But I still get a bit ragged towards the end of a long session and I can hear and feel it affecting whichever Powerball I'm using.
Not the end of the world though if you do happen to damage or destroy a Powerball. You can just post on these here forums about what is damaged or broken and typically you will be instructed to email repairs who will then dispatch replacement parts to you.
Excellent customer service imho. :)

Im really unhappy at the moment, because firstly on my Signature the rotor vibrates so much its hard to gain any higher then 10,000  I've checked and cleaned it out and the outcome is 4 cracks in the rotor fins that go right across the fin.
I've ordered new parts but i don't know if they've been sent yet as there was a little mix up, maybe Enda can put light on it.
My second worry is for my other 250Hz pro which when at around 10500 just slips and its impossible to gain any speed what so ever. I do a, what i think is a, 13000 + run and it shows up to be 10000. :(
Sorry to be so picky but i have 2 powerballs and both are broken especially at a time when i'm 'in form'. Its a shame really and i hope i can get back up and running around the weekend
Kind Regards
Peter
EDIT:
Hey the emails come through thank you enda. Despite the 2 powerballs going wrong these parts should help resove the problem, Thread Closed ... for now ;)

Physioblue, had no time to fix THIS PB, but I have another one :D
Whilst reading the posts on the broken powerballs, there is another questions that jumps to mind. I was told that all new powerballs are very "stiff" to start with and that it takes some time to get the thing running at optimum speed. Is this true? If so, how long does it take? I have recently (3 days ago) received an amber 250Hz PRO and I can't seem to get the thing over 12500 rpm, even though I have put more that 1 000 000 refs on, most at speeds of over 9000 rpm.
I have a blue PRO and I regulary peek over 13000 with a top score of 13229 - problem is that this blue ball is little over 2 weeks old. Does it make sense?

Hi Jammy,
Thanks for the question. After reaching my current high score of 15241 and repeating the 15k mark on currently 6 of my other Powerballs, I have found that whether a ball has been "worked in" has less effect on the performance than does the amount of practice you have had and the technique you use on the Powerball.
For instance, my current record (15241) and my second best (15200) are on 2 amber Powerballs that are not too old, but they have been used a lot and have seen a lot of wear and had cracks in their rotors for a while. When I opened up these 2 Powerballs I noticed that they even have very rugged tracks with some that are almost "ruts" in the inner rings. I have almost thought of asking for replacement bottom shells for these 2 Powerballs, but I don't want to jeopardize their current performance. I noticed the ruts when I put in new rotors which immediately made their performance great. So that an example of a completely worked in and almost worn out Powerball that is functioning great.
Now onto the the oldest of my Powerballs, a blue 250Hz Powerball, which had a fairly recent rotor replacement. After being worked in, one might think that it had reached it's optimum speed. But soon I found another position to hold this Powerball in my palm that unleashed a current top score of 15151. I really wasn't expecting the increase at all. That shows an old ball getting even more sudden increase because of a new technique and practice.
Last, after winning the monthly contest on this site, an amber 250Hz Pro that I received got to 15035 on the third speed run. I thought for sure I would have to work it in, but all the practice and better technique let me get some great score literally right out of the box. The very first run on this ball was 14800 or so and I just focused more on the next attempts. So that's a brand new Powerball with exactly the same potential as a much older Powerball.
Granted, I have not seen a 15K+ score on any of my Neons or Soundballs, I think soon this may change.
I do know that very first speed runs on the Powerball normally allow the Powerball to settle more on the inner tracks and support rings. After this you will likely see great increases in score. Although a Powerball may see some general climb and peak to optimum performance by working it in more, it may that more of the effect comes from our own practice and "working in" our own bodies as we get better at spinning these spheres. I think a total new Powerballer might think that the Powerball's age had more to do with it rather than their increases in strength and refining of technique.
I'm sure there some cases where a Powerball just gets better with age and wear, but after seeing brand new Powerballs get big scores I have some doubts. :)
I think much of our Powerballing achievements come from practice, a touch of agony and frustration, more practice, a decent amount of rest, and whole lot of belief in ourselves. As a very wise friend once said, "it's all about character-building." Yes, Powerballing is more than just a strength builder, it can strengthen your character too. :)
Always Powerballing,

Great post Duane. That pretty much sums it up!
Thanks Duane, appreciate the answer. I must admit, over the week-end I had a run with the new ball, an amber, and got it just over the 13000 rpm mark by holding it slighty differently. Hit 13338 with the other ball though on the very next run, so there is still a slight difference. But what the hell, I enjoy it so much that it really is a minor thing.
Cheers:cool:
