I got a 350HZ metal powerball as a gift for my birthday, after 15-25 tries to start the powerball I finaly got it, and posted a 8143 rpm score.

But I have a couple questions for anyone who can answer them.

I plan on using this as a fun side to strength training, how have most of you fit this into your lifting or excersise programs? Do you use this before lifting or after?

I enjoy keeping the ball going for a few minutes and switching hands so that I can try to work out both sides evenly, is there a limit as to how long you should keep a powerball spinning?

hey, i would say use the powerball before lifting to warm up your muscles, becuase the powerballs dont have the same effect as weights do. Afterlifting weights you should let your muscles rest so the muscle fibres can grow, so i would definite say use powerball before lifting/weights or your workout.

i am not sure there is a limit to how long you should keep it spinning but i suppose it depends on the intensity of the session. if you are keeping it at a very high rpm (especially on a metal) you may cause damage to muscles or joints. 8k is a really good score on a metal!!!

That is a good point about the muscle fiber. Thanks for the Reply!

I'm glad to hear 8k is a good score on the metal, I was getting frustrated trying to start it out! Have a couple welt marks from the string :o!

Personally, I don’t have any weights, I just use my metal powerball for about an hour swapping hands and changing from fast or relaxed. After that my muscles are feeling really well worked and I do a little warm down on my Neon.
Also good work on the 8k score, the metal with its smooth surface can be damn difficult to hold on to when you’re going for a high score, especially when you've only just got it.

Day two and the plastic end caps on the string fell off. Fixed it by heating up one of the ends to make it solid at the tips.

It was nice to use in the morning after lifting while still feeling a bit sore, keeping it at slow at around 5k rpms for the first 5 minutes or so to warm up a bit.

8804 is my new RH best, left hand is lagging behind a few but its nice to improve.

I'm really enjoying this thing now I know why there are so many on the forms that talk about it. Now all I need is my fingers to get used to it pinkeys are a bit sore.

I spent a lot of time trying to start it up without using the strings because I knew after a while one would break. I can do it with my thumb sometimes, but I find it easier rolling the rotor down the whole length of my forearm and then starting it. Sometimes you can get it fast enough but most times you have to use a special technique to get it spinning. You have to spin it really fast, faster than it wants you to. It's hard to explain but practice and you get it eventually.

I might get a metal one to see how much harder it is. I just got 12,336 again after I accidentally cleared my score. I got about 12,300 on my second day but haven't been able to again until now, about a week later.

Nearly 9K on the metal in a few days is very impressive. I'd say use it before doing weights aswell, atleast if you are doing a hard powerball session anyway. The powerball though is a good way to warm down your muscles after doing weights as long as you do it at slow speeds, it will get rid of the lactic acids in your arm muscles that would have built up during the weights session.

theres no time limit on using a powerball, but if u use it too much it can cause blisters and bruises on the hands so bout hour a day would be fine :)

As hard as it is, it is important to have a rest from Powerballing every once in a while - especially when you are new to it. The workout from using the Powerball is pretty intense, and so you should give your muscles time to adjust to the unique manner in which they are exercised by Powerall.

Try to limit your use a little, or at least take breaks every few days for the first month, and as you really push for high scores regular breaks become even more important!

Putting it down really is very difficult. Even when I had a blood blister and when i bust my thumb I couldn't help but pick it up.
I've now on my first genuine break (all my previous ones I havn;t stuck to). I took my balls apart, then boxed them and then put them at the back of my wardrobe to stop me from using them :D Having 1 full week off I am hopeing is going to allow me to smash 14500.

Use it before and after any intense workout.

As a warm up start slow & progressively build up from there & as a cool down do the reverse, progressively decreasing the intensity.
