Squeak noise

OK so i've had my powerball 6 days now, and it makes a squeaking noise and won't speed up...i can't even keep the gyroscope going. What do I do? I haven't dropped it or anything like that? Is there a simple fix? The only thing i've done is spin it as per the instructions...i even slowed it down and maintained a firm grip while it stopped like the directions said...what gives?
