View Full Version : cut insides?

so i opened my 5 day old 250 hz blue powerball because it had become very stiff and loud, and i had been carrying it arround in my blazer pocket (not really linty because its silk lined) and everyone at school had been using it, so despite my instructions who knows how many times it was started using a courderoy jacket sleeve or jean pant leg, or otherwise. and the inside had been work down from the constant (at least 8 hours per day use for 5 days lol) use. so when i opened it to clean it, the white plastic ring surrounding the ball and attached to the weight had a gash in it. it looked like someone had taken a knife and just cut a diagonal slit in it, and of course this area was mangled. this was the FIRST time it was opened, and i knew that this gash would cause problems with friction and noise, so i cleaned out the disgustingly dirty ball, wiped off the ring, and tried to flatten out the flap so it would be at elast smooth or full wihtout cutting it off to leave a gash in the ring, but it is still there. the piece makes a very loud noise (or that's what i assume the loud noise comes from) ... and after 3 or so hours of intense use after that it seemed to quiet down, i opened it again and the piece was worn a little smoother, but not much. it does not cause any difficulties or extra friction when spinning it one way, but spinning it the other way is more difficult... and either way it is very loud.

can i get a replacement ring for it without sending it in for warranty?

can i get a replacement ring for it without sending it in for warranty? That sounds very strange, seeing a gash in the white rotor-support-band. If you email repairs@powerballs.com, specifying what is written around the rubber grip on your Powerball, and putting in a link to this thread, then you'll be sorted out with a replacement.

Regards,
Tim.

alright, thank you!

but actually, some stratigic work with an x-acto knife and some super fine sandpaper makes it smoother and quieter than when i forst got it (or at least as smooth and quiet as when i first got it.) and it adds some nice extra airplaine engine whir.

I've always wanted to try some fine sandpaper on the track, never got around to it though.
