View Full Version : Think I found a problem...
Well, I finally plucked up the currage to pull my powerball apart today, and was suprised to find what I would consider a rather heavy amount of wear on the washers! I would have thought what I bought was new but I am seriously begining to question this now :(
Anyway, here is a piccy..

You can clearly see the wear on the washers, especially the round one! I can't believe I could have done that in 4 days could I? Have to admit I have really hammered the thing trying to get back over 10k!
I suspect the ring is ok there is a bit of a rough edge on the edge of the flange but I am not sure whether it is the flange or flat 'sides' that contact the outer sphere on rotation? I cleaned some shavings from the sphere it does feel much smoother now!
Anyway, could anyone advise how I can get some replacement washers please - I figure a fresh set might help me improve my top score
To be honest, those washers still look in pretty good shape, maybe a little more than I would expect from four days of use, but still mostly okay. most of my round washers barely exist anymore, You should see what the metal does to it's washers.. it is brutal!
I don't think a new set of washers will do much for you just yet, but perhaps taking one full day and night off from powerball and then coming bakc will give you the edge you need to bump up your scores!
Some powerballs work very well even without washers... :)

I agree, especially once the Powerball is up to speed...I find their requirement is more necessary when starting the Powerball, as without the washers the rotor moves a lot more within the support band, and can start rubbing against it. If the support band holes are worn too then this rubbing can get so bad that it's hard to get the Powerball started.
Thanks guys, well I am suprised.

Not a bad idea, but you know how hard it is to put these things down - especially when new!

Hmm, I can see the square washers arn't worn in the circular motion so I guess that is the most important bit. I can see what you mean there!
That small 'thrust' washer however is pulvarised! I am sure once this totally dissintigrates the square washer on that side won't be far behind!
BTW, it would be interesting to see the inside of your pb after the 10mil marathon

BTW, it would be interesting to see the inside of your pb after the 10mil marathon :eek:I thought the exact same thing, so I'll take it apart and take some pictures. However, at a steady 7k there should be very little wear on the washers or support band really.
did you check your washers Adrena1in?
Think I am going to try to order some all the same....

Lots of my washers look like that, where the round one is all gnarled. And Ed.-tech doesnt exactly help it either....
