View Full Version : That "gentle" mystery

This has been mentioned elsewhere, but I don't want to hijack somebody else's thread with my own question and answers.

I need a more abstract idea of what "gentle" use of Pball means, because mine has no rev counter on it to indicate what 6,000 might be (and this appears to be a recommended speed for rehab).

Because the noise of it accelerating is quite a thrill, I've been trying to get it as fast as I can, but fear this is not the best way of sorting out my RSI.

Is therapy better achieved by going at the fastest speed at which you can keep it going steadily, for example, or is 6,000 pushing it a bit?

Thanks in anticipation,
Andrew.

Oo, and

Should I be keeping it to ONE 5-10 mins a day, or can "gentle" mean half a dozen sessions a day?

Hi there, hard to describe what gentle means to someone with no counter. I suppose, for me, once the Powerball is up to cruising speed, I would say gentle is stiring my wrist approximately 2 or 3 times per second.

As for how long, at "gentle" speeds my arm would start to tighten after maybe 2 or 3 minutes, so I swap hands...can go for hours. But I've been Powerballing for years. To begin with you'll want to go for 5 or 10 minutes maybe, swapping hands regularly, never getting to the point where you're in pain, but just getting that nice warm feeling of your muscles working calmly.

As Adrena1ine says, 2 or 3 "stirings" is about 6000 rpms.
How long have you been doing this??

My son does it where it is comfortable to to keep the same speed going for 5 minutes. He doesn't pay any attention to the rpms. He has had major problems with his wrist and is now doing so much better by using the powerball.
