Cord not functioning correctly

Hi i am a first time user with the 250hz Model of Powerball.

Whn i attempt to start the powerball with the cord i am not acheiving great speeds at all, i cannot tell you exactly as i dont have a rev counter. No matter how i attempt to speed up the powerball, using slower wider wrist movements or tighter fasterr wrist movements, i cannot build up any resisitance, i have managed to build a resisitance 1 or 2 times out of 100 or so and it is random as to when it works. I have read many threads and attempted all different solutions apart from cleaning it, but as i have just bought it i doubt it could be dirty. Any suggestions on starting it, also can anyone give a more detailed version of starting the powerball without the cord?

Hello Darren, usually it takes some time to get "used" to the motion on the powerball.
Just practice a bit, and try doing some slow movements... i dont know i fthat helps...
Just practice, am sure soon you are going to get it started.

Welcome, Darren. I'm a newbie, too. Plus, I'm an old guy. The day my first powerball arrived (Metal 350), it took me a bit to get it figured out, but by the end of the day I was turning 8000+ either hand. I still haven't figured out starting with my thumb instead of the string. All things in time. Oh, and don't clean its insides. Bad for 'em.

Darren, when you whip the starting string out as fast as you can, and grip the Powerball tight, does the yellow rotor simply spin on it's axis, or does it revolve slowly around it's second axis as well, causing your hand to move very slightly in small circles?

when i pull it it only spins on its axis, it doesnt rotate, but that was with my right hand. I tried using my left hand and hey presto starts up every time, a quick switch to my right and awaya i go, also, i have just about mastered the starting up with the thumb techinque which will make things alot easier, there is still one problem though. My fingers are covered in blisters! :p over use...what a nightmare.

The blisters will subside over time. I got some horrific ones that i kept powerballing on and it ended in a lot of blood on my powerball (but a new record at the same time). They've almost healed atlast though. Make sure you dont over do it on your blisters as they can become infectd.

Funnily enough this is something we see a lot...

For one reason or another someone just cannot master the technique with one hand but gets it immediately with the other...

What you should do is hone your technique slightly and then try again with your right hand and you should find that you get it every time with that hand too.

I still prefer starting it with the string for some reason even though i've mastered the thumb start.
