I have the regular 250hz powerball for about 2 months. After using my friend's ball, my ball don't feel as smooth as his. It has a scratching/scraping noise/feel and it has a nasty clunk to it. I have done many 30 second runs with it and it still has the same problem. I also have tried to clean the white ring inside with compressed air and I have taken it apart. Also the rubber band keeps sliding off when i do speed runs. Thanks in advance.

Hi there timwoo.

First of all, with lots of use a Powerball will start to feel a bit rough and make a scraping noise. It's quite natural really, and shoudn't affect the performance of the little sphere.

The "nasty clunk"...does that happen with every rotation of your wrist? If so, this sounds like a dent on one of the rotor surfaces within the sphere. As the rotor axle rolls over the dent it makes a "clunk" noise. Dents are usually caused by the Powerball being dropped.

Giving the Powerball a clean should make it a bit quieter, as long as you get out all the loose particles, but the dent, depending on how big it is, might take a long time to go away.

As for the rubber grip, remove this and give the Powerball surface and rubber grip both a really good clean, (with isopropyl alcohol if you can get some, or soap and water otherwise), then make sure they're nice and dry and it should become better after that.

If you want to discuss and replacement parts then please email repairs@powerballs.com, with a link to this thread, and detail what's written on your rubber grip, and we'll see about getting your Powerball working nicely again for you.

Tim.

I purchased a new ball yesterday and I can get over 12000 easily on the new ball. On my original ball I cannot get over 10500. I had Weee look at my ball and he told me it likes to get suck turning on it's one axis even when you hold it tight. We also took the ball completely apart and cleaned it really well. Thank in advance.

Hi, we eliminated all possible offenders down to the rotor by switching out parts with another ball. I had timwoo send an e-mail to repairs@powerballs.com with all his info but he hasn't heard back(as of last time I spoke with him, disregard if a reply was sent today). We're hoping a rotor was sent already but I just wanted to post here and check back

Scratch that... I just saw an email going out to Tim there.

A new rotor is being dispatched tomorrow to him and should be with him early next week.

Hello everyone, I have another problem with my new ball now. It started to develope the same vibration as my old ball. Weee told me I broken another rotor because the axle moves side to side inside the rotor. And can someone check on the status of the rotor for my first broken ball. I have not received it yet. Thank you, Tim

Yes it does sound like a broken rotor. (bent akle/cracked plastic)

This ball is only about a month old. Is it my technique? I treated this ball like it was a baby. Never dropped or anything.

well, you can always open it and check for the axels and rotor (the inside of it, near the axels).

It is possible that your technique isn't helping...

If you are 'shaking' your arm a lot when using your Powerball then it has the potential to damage the axle especially at higher speeds.

Of course, we also have others with good technique who just seem to wear out rotors quite quickly.

We opened it, the long rotor axle wiggles about pretty freely to the touch, that's how I determined that it's broken.

Hi Tim,

Can you please send me an email (enda@powerballs.com) with the two rotor parts needed and I'll get them sent out again to you - I guess they've been lost in the post!

Make sure you include the text from the grip-band so I can ensure you get the correct parts. Also please send on your address for delivery.

Regards

Hello, I got the two rotors today. But I don't think they are any good. One rotor has a gap between the axle and rotor and there is white powder there also. Looks like a used rotor. I have not installed it yet. The other rotor axle shaft is longer on the counter weight side. It pushes the support ring out and the ball will hardly turn with that rotor in there. =(

Well, now thats odd...
the rotors are alike.. i guess...
Try them anyway, they should work fine.

I've only had a problem like that in a new rotor once, whereas the rotor arrived highly off-balance. But it seems unlikely to get two broken ones at the same time.

I saw these last night, one is WAY off balance, it feels like one of those vibrating chairs but in your hand, you can see a gap between the axle and the ball, and lots of play. The other one was hard to figure out why it wasn't fitting in there right, it's like the long side of the axle is much longer the usual, when the support ring is on, the counterweight sits noticably farther from the rotor, and this deforms the support right so it won't fit anymore. Really odd
