View Full Version : Which one to buy?
Hi all,
I am definately going to purchase a powerball, but I am still doubting which one to choose... The purpose is mostly just for fun, but also for exercising a bit (I'm no real sportsman btw) and for dealing with some minor RSI traits.
I already know I want a "PRO" (so one with counter), and no metal or techno version. My question hence basically is: do you advice the regular or the neon? Could the neon lights get annoying after a while? Or is there maybe a way to put the ledlights off?
Thanks in advance for your advice!
ps. btw; the regular and neon versions only differ slightly in "performance", right? I mean, basically the only difference between the regular and the Neon versions are the lights?
Exactly Diesel.
The neons are generally 1-2% slower than the standard 250Hz models, but for most purposes they operate exactly the same way.
I personally like the lights to be honest... its really a matter of preference but you won't go wrong with either - any Powerball is excellent for treating RSI!
and .. welcome to the forum!
Regards

Thanks for the fast reply!
anyway; is it possible to put the lights off or remove them from the Neon versions, such that the powerball still works?

Sorry Diesel,
Forgot to answer that part!
No, the LEDs are built into the rotor and are activated when the rotor starts spinning so cannot be turned on/off.

Two more questions:
- how long does it take for the goods to be shipped to somewhere in the Netherlands?
- how much faster does this delivery go by requesting a "priority delivery"?

Hi Diesel,
Delivery to the Netherlands is generally 4/5 business days but can arrive a little faster at times.
With priority post, you will generally shave a day or two from this.

Hi Diesel,
As I live in the Netherlands myself and have frequently ordered several of their fantastic products, I can confirm Enda's estimated time of arrival scheme.
It's fast! Once, I ordered a Metal on Tuesday and it arrived on Thursday (same week)!
Good luck and have fun with your purchase, you won't regret it (except maybe that you'll become addicted, like me; but it's a healthy addiction!!!)
Hope to see more Dutch PowerBallers in the High-speed and Strength/Endurance Index soon.
Kind regards,
Dennis

I started with a Neon, but soon wanted to go as fast as I could, so got a non-Neon and sold the Neon. Wish I hadn't now, because the Neons are really cool. Suggest you start with one of them first.
You just need to decide which colour now...blue, red or green...or all three! ;)

I thought that a neon might get annoying after awhile, but it doesnt really cause it looks so cool. I wouldnt reccomend getting red unless you really like that color, cause it looks crappy and isnt as bright compared to the green and blue models. And my neon doesnt really run noticeably slower that my 250hz.

This is a matter of opinion, I'm not particularly a fan of the color red, blue is my favorite color normally, but I think the red neon looks best of all three and not significantly less bright. I have all the neons and the techno, it's really just a matter of taste.
Agreed... my favourites are the Neon red and greens...
all those bright lights!! :D :D

Yeah they're all cool, but IN MY OPINION, the green and blue are brighter and cooler looking.

This sounds exactly the same as a discussion I once saw on a Lightsaber forum! :D
I still think a multi-colour Neon would look the mutt's!
Or one that changes color depending on the speed achieved: blue for 10k, green for 11k, yellow for 12k, orange for 13k, red for 14k and purple for 15k. How about that??? Now we only need to decide which color Akis prefers for het 16k scores (as I don;t think anybody else has to bother about that particular color).
Kind regards,
Dennis

So, it's up to Akis what the color of 16k will be, eh? I guess it'll be his favorite color (don't know what that is, though)! ;)
Kind regards,
Dennis

I know this is an older thread and that Adrena!in said that it was his idea originally, but this intrigues me... Would it be possible to develop a ball like this? maybe not with that many colours - maybe just destinctions for up to 10000 rpm, between 10000 and 12000, 12000 - 14000, etc. It would be way cool if you were trying to spin a record and you could see the lights actually change as you up the gears...
Could this be seriously considered?
about the changing color powerball, it ocurred to me too a few years ago... i even thought of a name.. xD
something like "Neon Mix":D

Yes, this would be really cool :)
And maybe a couple of models for different rpm ranges.
Because the interest for the changing color will differ from person to person depending of your high score.

Wouldn't it be a bit tricky to make the colours change at different speeds?
Obviously the 16k mark should be Gold/yellow for the champs who can hit over 16k, or flashing multicoloured if possible, the rotor would be abit jam packed of LED's lol. the weight would have doubled.

The only thing I can think of here guys if to have a modification on the Techno rotor of some description.
Currently, when you hit 6000rpm the Techno's first LED will illminate and as you you increase your speed an additional LED will illuminate.
I disassembled a Techno rotor and see that the 'mod' is actually pretty straight-forward except that you have to use mini-LEDs for the job.
The only thing about that is as you increase your speed both LED1 & LED2 are lit and so it defeats the purpose slightly.
Leave it with me and we'll see..

As always, the Powerball Kingdom taking head of the needs of the masses...:D
Thanks Enda, we're looking forward to a company response on the possibilities of this.
