View Full Version : Techno counter problem...
Ok, I got my techno yesterday, big letdown I saw the video and read the instructions, but I wasn’t able to figure out how to see my score. When I stopped using it, I see what may appear to be numbers or lettering, but it winds up looking like spin-art when I try to read it…
Any suggestions?

Half the skill with that model is reading your score. The easiest way is to attach the wrist strap and let it hang after you've completed a speed run. As long as you started it in the correct direction, you should have no problems reading it. "Stalling" it in your hand just takes practice.
Thanks, at least I can see the numbers now... Still wasn't able to read my score but at least I know I can check my score.

it scrolls the numbers 1 at a time. like 1-2-0-0-0 then says RPM

Hello and welcome to the forum =D
i dont own a techno model, but if am right, you should speed up untill the blue led turns on, then if you like to see your score you should slow it down around 3000-2000 rpms so you can see your score.
i think so.. ?
could you tell us what is exactly what you are doing?
Regards =D
Speed up until blue line apear, then speed up a litle more and then stop rotate the hand. After a few seconds the ball display scrolling message "NEW NSD POWER BALL" 1 or 2 times. After that all leds turn off and no more messages until rotor stop.

ok i think whats your problem.
i bet at first the powerball showed the rpms right??
if so, you need to exceed your record for the powerball to show the rpms made.
the techno model shows the new highscore.. or at least thats what i understand when i read the manual.
Regards!
PS: so, you need to break your actual record for the powerball to show it.

I think...I'm not sure...but I think you need to get over a certain score for it to register at all. Is it 8000 rpm? (I'm getting one very soon...lucky £5 purchase from a certain auction site.)
These are the exact Techno instructions which we send out to people who have difficulty in reading the score:
1. Ensure that the rotor is being activated in the direction of the arrow which has been etched onto its surface. If you rotate it in the opposite direction, the scrolling score will appear on the opposite end of the rotor surface (up at the section of the sphere which usually hosts the counter on the other Powerball models) and therefore will be illegible to you.
2. Give the rotor a spin to start (either with your thumb or the cord) and immediately start increasing the revs.
3. Once you have hit 6000rpm, the first LED will illuminate. At 7000rpm the next LED will appear and so on until you hit 12K at which time the blue LED will also appear.
4. As soon as you are ready to read your score, simply stop spinning and allow the rotor to slow down. As each 1000rpm scrubs off, a LED will extinguish.
5. After the final LED has disappeared, the score will begin to scroll across the rotor surface.
6. There is a technique in holding the ball to allow you read that score - it is a combination of delicate yet firm support of the sphere which cancels the inner friction and stops the rotor from spinning on its second axis. Until you get that "hold technique" right, all you will see on the display is a series of jumbled letters.
7. If you are failing to learn this hold technique, simply attach the wrist cord (if you haven't already done so) and drop the ball from your hand as the rotor slows, allowing it to hang by the wrist cord only. This will serve to instantly stabilise the rotor in the same way as holding it correctly in the hand and allow you see the scrolling score with ease.
If you are certain that you are spinning the Powerball at speeds greater than 6000rpm and the rotor is still not lighting, then you may have a damaged rotor.
If this is the case, please let me know and we'll take it from there.
Regards

Was a badly listed auction and only had two bids. £5 includes the postage can you believe! My winning bid was....wait for it...£1.25!! :D
At last :) . The speed must be greater 7000. Thank's friends
Where I can found the manual for techno powerball? I lost my manual somewere, and can't found any pdf

The PDF can be found here (http://www.powerballs.com/rear.pdf).
Enda, you just mentioned that if you "drop" the ball while on the wrist strap is will stabalise, however if i drop it onto the wrist strap it vibrates like crazy. No chance of reading the score that way. :( Guess it's my powerball. - Or maybe i can't even "drop" right.

The way you should hold it NeO is in the same manner as you would a coin held with its face showing.
If you try to hold your Powerball in this way, not applying pressure to the spheres but nonetheless holding the ball firmly then the rotor should immediately stabilise.
I'm guessing that you are applying pressure with your fingers to hold the Powerball securely but it shouldn't be necessary at the lower speeds at which the score will start scrolling across the screen.

Oh no, I can hold it in my hand stable, with just he occasional jerk, I mean I can't do the drop from the wrist strap, it vibrates like heck when it's hanging from that.
