Okay, so I've just received a submission to the Dual-Hand scoreboard, but unfortunately the chap didn't quite grasp the rules...he did a Dual-90-second Strength run! Quite impressive in itself really, and all that energy expended only for me to have to reject the score...shame. :o

But a Dual-Hand-90-Second scoreboard might not be a bad idea really. I know I can't control this, but if people want to post their scores in this thread, if we get enough we might be able to get yet another scoreboard approved. (I'll correlate the scores into this post, starting with the chap who sent his score in.)

1. Installed = 33688 (16891 right + 16797 left)
2. LTLFTC = 33048 (16580 right + 16468 left)
3. Adrena1in = 32281 (16216 right + 16065 left)
4. GILPI = 28844 (15593 left + 13251 right)
5. petemayhew = 28299 (14237 right + 14062 left)
6. Tstering = 28119 (14393 right + 13726 left)
7. Iaruru = 26555 (13741 right + 12814 left)
8. Weee = 24854 (12779 right + 12075 Left)
9. Mark Nykamp = 23772 (12168 right + 11604 left)
10. Millenwagon = 19434 (10002 right + 9432 left)

Enda
17-08-2006, 12:35
I'll sticky the thread for a few days so we can see what kind of interest we get.

Yeah i didn't quite get that it was just 2 top speeds totalled together, the 90 second dual run was really hard but as i got a score close to the scores on the dual run leaderboard i gathered that they were 90 second runs aswell. Well i think it'd be good if everybody had a go at it, was certainly a good challenge for the least! :D

.. as i got a score close to the scores on the dual run leaderboard i gathered that they were 90 second runs aswell! :DThat's fair enough. I would generally expect most people to get a bit more with the 90s runs than with their top speed runs. I'm hoping to reach 30k, though I'd settle for 28k to start with. :p

But you hold one Powerball with two hands...how're you going to hold two Powerballs?! ;)

17-08-2006, 15:11
Would be interesting to know what I can score with a dual strength index run. However, to be honest, the amount of different powerball disciplines has increased so rapidly that I am already having a hard time right now, to participate in all competitions :( .

However, I will go for the dual run 90sec strength index for sure and post my scores here.

One question remains, how do you reset the counters on both powerballs simultaneously?

Regards,

The Force

Millenwagon
17-08-2006, 15:18
I can only start the powerballs with the stings, u have to get one ball going slowly then get the other one going in the other hand which was hard with the strings, then whilst spinning slowly u then press both of the timer buttons make sure ur already set to 90 seconds before u start then u can just press the clear/on button once and it will get it going (if that makes sense to anybody  haha) The thing i found hardest was keeping the speed up, 90 second doesnt sound long, but when you've got a powerball in each hand going consistantly as fast as you can its pretty intense especially when ive only had a powerball for 10 days :p

Adrena1in
17-08-2006, 15:29

As Millenwagon says, with difficulty. :p

Guess you just have to accept that you're going to lose a fair few revs between pressing the buttons and getting the Powerballs up to speed. I might first try it with the rotors facing my palms, and using my forefinger on one hand to reset the Powerball in the other hand, then vice versa.

You're right though, there are a lot of leagues, with the potential for a lot more too.

Millenwagon
17-08-2006, 15:50
yep thats how i had to do it, with the rotor facing my hand (it was hard not to catch it at first too) i think in one hand it was opposite and the other hand the normal way round, cant remember how i ended up that way tho  but yeah definately lost a few revs in the button pressing but thats what makes it more of a challenge, would be great to see if people have a go and see their scores, its a great challenge!

Well, managed 28524 earlier - 14477 right-hand + 14047 left-hand. Not too bad, considering it was only my second attempt. Wasn't really warmed up though...I'm sure 30000 will be do-able.

Millenwagon

Millenwagon

just managed a 14304 on the dual hander, thats my new record think im gettin to grips with the 90 second strength run,. im gonna go for it for a record in the next couple of weeks :D what is ur top strength score adrenal1n? about 19000ish?

Adrena1in
18-08-2006, 08:35
I don't think anyone could ever get 40,000. Akis has only just about managed 20,000 with one Powerball, and around 18300 using only one hand. He'd get about 34000 to 35000 to start with I think.

My 90-s record with my right hand only is 16010. About 15500 with my left. I think I could manage at least 15000 with each hand at the same time, so my target is 30,000.

Millenwagon
18-08-2006, 12:00
Sounds good, i managed to increase my highest speed to 12074 and my strength run to 14800 (near that) yesterday, sounds poor compared to most but i seem to be increasing quite quickly and i notiec my bst perfromance was after a good warm, i think i did a 90 second run with each hand then had a minute or 2 rest then went for max speed and i bettered by around 500rpm, what's ur top speed?

Adrena1in
18-08-2006, 12:43
You will improve pretty rapidly to start with, but things will slow down the faster you get unfortunately. My record's 13579, which is almost a year old.

Anyway, let's not get off topic. This thread is just for Dual-Hand-90-second-Strength. :)

I dont really think you should make an official scoreboard for this mode, but you definitely don't have to remove the thread altogether.

MrCharlie
26-10-2006, 14:56
i didn't care for it much. it's really hard to regrip. they are hard to hold on to and I'm just scared of dropping one.

I like using them at the same time, but not balls to the wall for 90s.

Best warm up I've found for myself is about 50k revs in each hand on 350hz, then a single handed 90s 250hz with each hand. then the gyro's feel lighter :)

Adrena1in
26-10-2006, 15:15
then the gyro's feel lighter :)I found that when I was solely using the Metal for a couple of months. Towards the end it felt really light and easily manageable, and the 250 Hz felt like air.

I have to use a form of liquid magnesium for the Metal to help me grip it, but I still want to have a go at dual-hand 90s. :)

Working dual-hands is a good idea, though probably not something you can hold competitions in. There are so many minutae that don't exist with 1-handed rotating, such as which hand is 'on the bottom', how the hands are overlapping, the angle of the forearms to each other, stuff like that.

Best left up to personal experimentation.

This led me to think of something though... something that obviously would not work with a single extremity....

We could obviously not hold and spin a powerball with one foot, but if you put it between both feet, couldn't that work?

Ankle mobility and a nice foot massage? You could even compete in that, since there wouldn't be much variety in how the feet grip.

There's a foot trainer which enables this.

Attaches to your foot and you place a spinning powerball in and try and rotate your foot to keep the ball going.

Are there no other takers on dual 90s??

I was just thinking, you should probably take off my Ed Tech score since I'm the only one who used that technique. :( Also, this thread would be more suited in the User Scores forum.

I haven't tried one of these for a while. I need to fairly even balls to track it properly on powerballyser. Leave your Ed score on. Gives me something to aim for:p

At some point I'll probably give this another go too, as I'm sure 33k should be do-able, perhaps even 34k. I also think it might help with my Dual-Hand speed runs, as my co-ordination is just non-existent.

I had a crack at it the other night, during the Gyrotek Chat. Left hand speed was 13.7k, RH speed 14.4k, but Dual-Hand runs only just over 25k, so I hoped a Dual-Hand 90s might get my arms co-ordinated better. Blimey though, it was tough. My LH started cramping about halfway, so I re-adjusted my grip. For the last 20 seconds or so my left wrist started to bend itself away from my body, and it was difficult to stop it.

Ended up with something like 14.5k RH and 14.3k LH. Atrocious! :(

WHA??? HOLY WHOAH! I might try one of these....but I'd really have to be motivated...or really really out of my mind! No, seriously though, I'd like to give this a try sometime or even make a regular routine out of it, if only I weren't so scared of this...

Good score Rob, I think you should try a bit harder and knock that Ed-Techer off the top spot! ;)

I done a 90's and 30's:

90's - 14202 + 15092 = 29294

30's - 5505 + 5878 = 11383

Gave it my first try tonight (hopefully it won't be my last)...

27139 = L:12597 + R:14542

Edit: just one spot below James? I must not be doing too bad then...? Or is James not updated his score for a long while?

Reasonable start I guess. When I warm up for my sessions I do one of these it's usually between 29k and 30k

Will try this out as soon as my rotor gets back to me! (Targetting 25.7k)
Edit-To hard to co-ordinate a regular and a siggy. Prehaps some other time...
