My guess is that it would just make your arms tired a little faster.

I would be interested in seeing your experience both with and without the extra weights. As always though, be careful not to over-do it!

My guess is that it would just make your arms tired a little faster. That's possibly true, but this could be a very interesting experiment.

As we all know, part of the basis of achieving high scores with a Powerball is minimising the movement of the arm and wrist. This comes with practice, honing the technique until you're hardly moving your arm at all. It's quite tricky, especially as the Powerball is trying to move your arm in large circles.

BUT, if your arm is heavy, i.e. weighed down with wrist-weights, it's going to be harder for the Powerball to move this extra weight, (due to inertia and momentum and what have you), and therefore it should be EASIER to hold your arm more still.

(I've often wondered if it would be helpful or a hindrance if your arm was literally restricted in it's movement, such as having your wrist through a padded, fixed ring, allowing some movement, but only a small amount. You could bounce your wrist off the inner part of the ring without having to use your own muscles to prevent the Powerball spinning your arm in large circles.

Hmmmmm...  )

I've noticed that doing heavy dumbells curls just before powerballing helps to achieve somewhat higher RPMs.

You know that Akis dude has big heavy arms - other than his obvious muscle power, maybe that extra arm mass gives him an edge; also notice how he curls up at the end of a run, sorta puts his body weight into it.

only a few reps with the heavy dumbells - that way you don't deplete the glycogen but still fool your brain/nerves into thinking the next load is going to be heavy.

too bad I can't lift a dumbbell much heavier than a powerball... j/k I'll try this one too, why not

maybe its like using the 350 before you use the 250?
