View Full Version : Silly Question about traveling with Powerball Metal?

Anyone had issues traveling with a Powerball Metal?

Just curious, but I know airport security around here might just blow up my bag if it had a metal orb with a digital "timer" on top in it, especially these days.

Stories, experiences, or thoughts?

What mainly got me thinking this way was I am considering getting one as a present for a family member that travels internationally a lot and doesn't have access to any easy form of exercise.

Knowing that the world has become rather paranoid these days, I have the feeling that it could be risky to take a powerball in your hand luggage.

Agreed.

I can't imagine that you would have any problems in your luggage, but in carry-on bags it would be a different story.

I remember even a few months ago travelling with a Neon in my hand luggage and wondering what the hell was going on when I ended up having 2-3 security looking at an 'object' in my bag on the x-ray!

Of course, cue some quick explanations (and my patented sales pitch :D) and I was on my merry way!

I wish things were so uptight, I actually felt safer back then.
Makes sense to avoid the carry-on/hand luggage, especially with a Metal one.
Packing in your regular luggage would be a better choice.

I'm sure most security personnel would realize quickly that it wasn't a threat especially when given an explanation of what it is.

I suppose one could always dissasemble it and pack it in a clean ziplockit if they were really worried. Once apart it wouldn't look like anything suspicious.

Of course after Enda's pitch, I'm sure that at least one airport has quite a few employees that are now also avid Powerball enthusiasts.

I once got stopped for an hour and a half over a small metal clock I had. I travel with a plastic one now.

Thanks for sharing!

Cheers.
