I am a novice female drummer who is trying to learn to play rather late in life. I was looking for something to build up my strength and durablility and came across the powerball. Instantly addictive. and i can see that it is going to help my wrist movement no end. Can anybody tell me which possitions and excercises will best give me the strength and stamina i will need for drumming.(i'm with a heavyish rock band). Cant wait till next time we play live, it will look so much better twirling this neon than fiddling with sticks as a warm up excercise.

This is off subject but I have noticed now that using the powerball each day has strengthend my arms, now I can manage pull-ups with ease. ;)

There are many different motions you can allow your arms to make while using a Powerball. I occasionally get sore wrists from too much typing at the computer or throwing a ball for my dog, (or playing tug-of-war against him at home!), so I sometimes just stir my wrist with the Powerball to give a gentle workout, and it helps.
I guess that drumming involves more movement in the elbows too, and exercises the triceps. I'd therefore hold the Powerball with my arm in the position of holding a mug of coffee, (or tea...the effect is much the same!;), and I'd replicate the motion of striking a drum.
But basically you'll find that using the Powerball will exercise ALL the arm muscles, so pretty much any motion will help.

I am a drummer and I found that for best improving my drumroll, I need to strengthen my fingers themselves and my wrists, so to isolate them, and get the most effective workout for your fingers, hold the powerball with your fingertips, not using the conventional grip of holding the powerball deep into your palm. but I must warn you, if you overdo it, you will strain the tiny muscles in your fingers, so train lightly.
On another note, i currently beat my record and got 12323, woot! I'm still in my hot mode so watch out! ;)
I am a drummer of six years so here are my thoughts. The most important muscles for you are in the wrist. These will help support the joints no end. The biggest problems experienced after a long time drumming in the back from sitting slumped over and in the wrists. Even with good technique your wrists get battered and the powerball always works on the wrists so it is excellent for drummers. Finger strength also allows for more power and control for the flick of the stick. As for the arms, work everything but I would say focus on your forearms if you drum jazz or pop where speed and subtlety are important. If you want to hit hard for rock or metal work on the upper arms. Remember being big is not as important as being agile, so powerball is much better than lifting weights, as big arms don't move as quick. Hope that helps.
