After 2 month using my PB the ball began to make a strange noise og is starting to vibrate a little. This makes it very hard to get above 12k, my personal best i above 13k.

I opened my PB and did a cleaning job, wich helped a little on the noise, but not the vibration. As i was cleaning it, i saw some brown dust inside the ball. Placed on the electrical print around the two BIGGEST electric things :-). Is this normal after 2 month use?

Im pritty shure the ball hasnt been dropped.

Is it possible to make a sound diagnose?

Is there no one with a solution?

hmm hello!
and welcome to the forum!
did you check for any crack on the rotor??
if so you should ask for a replacement.. REGARDS!

Good morning Follmann,

In order that we determine what is wrong with your Powerball, I would ask you to take your Powerball apart to see if you can identify if any of the internal parts are damaged. Please follow our FAQs (http://www.powerballs.com/faq.php?q=21) to do this and in particular look out for the following common problems:

- 'ruts' in the spheres (outer casing)
- a worn support band (white ring into which the rotor axle sits)
- crack in the rotor itself (yellow ball, particularly on the fins)

If you do identify any damaged components then please email liz@powerballs.com with a link to this thread. Please also include your name and shipping address together with tdetails of the text on the grip-band to ensure that you receive the correct replacement part.

Regards

Enda, you are forgetting one important problem (to be added in the FAQ section I suppose).

- tolerance on the rotor axle (combined with white powder which can be noticed on the rotor axle where this axle leaves the yellow material)

After a cleaning job, I started looking for the things pointed out for me.

I didnt find anything, until i studied the suppor band closely. When i place the rotor in the support band, and the puts it into one of the spheres. I see that it is the metal rod from rotor, that is resting on the sphere (testet it on both spheres). The outer ring (horizontal ring) on the support band i narrover than the metal rod.

Is this normal or does this mean a worn supportband?

When you use the word "ruts", do you mean very small U shaped holes on the inner edge, where the support band is resting? When i turn the support band with rotor inside around on the egde in the sphere, I feel at some points a little resistance. (tested on both spheres)

The noise is now a bit smaller, but i still get a vabration, wich is encreasing at higher speeds.

i think thats normal.... but check very carefully for the inside of the rotor, when my rotor start virbating it was because it cracked up..

Yes, this is normal. When spinning, the metal rod from the rotor rolls along the sphere surfaces, so it has to touch them.

When you use the word "ruts", do you mean very small U shaped holes on the inner edge, where the support band is resting?
Yes, because the metal rod rolls on these surfaces, if there are ruts then it will cause a knocking noise on each rotation.

When i turn the support band with rotor inside around on the egde in the sphere, I feel at some points a little resistance.
The resistance is normal. This gives the metal rod the ability to roll without sliding too much. This is why it's wrong to oil or lubricate the Powerball, as the metal rod will slip to much and never start rolling.

...i still get a vabration, wich is encreasing at higher speeds.
This is definitely not normal, and sounds to me like something is wrong. I have a very old Powerball which vibrates a lot, and it is because of a faulty rotor. At around 8000 revs it actually starts to hurt because the vibration is going right up my arm. I'll try mine with a brand new support band, to see if it makes any difference, but I don't think it will. I think it's got what The Force says is "intolerance in the rotor".

Hmmm...

Im going to open my ball again tonight and make a new inspection.

Is there anything a can do, if nothing i visible for my eyes?

I finaly got some time to check my neon PB again.

This time my eyes caught sight of cracks in the rotor :( . All 4 fins in the rotor has cracks on the opposite site than the electronics for the neon lights.

I will mail this threat to LIZ.

Tnx all. :)
