View Full Version : My Scratching/Grinding/Slow powerball :(

Hi,

I have seen this before, that the powerball grinds, scratches and goes slow, and tried to fix mines, but I cannot see how.

Infact, I have 2 powerballs now like this, and both go slow and make the ugly noise sound.

A grinding noise is absolutely normal for powerballs after that they have been used for a while. A rattling sound (combined with vibrations which you feel in your hand) indicate a dammaged rotor. The grinding sound comes from the waste particles in the innertrack over which the rotor supportband and the rotor axle are running. Cleaning the powerball will reduce the grinding sound a little, but it will never dissapear completely. Also a rougher track services makes the sound less smooth.

An indication of a too high dust level on the track is also that the powerball cannot be started very easily anymore.

ive only had the powerball 1 week.

Can you please say which picture above I have to clean parts from?

And also, if you wouldnt mind, highlight on paint or so?

I have alchohol here, I just dont know where to clean.

hello, i guess that you should clean the "white ring" and the blue shells of the pwoerballs..

As TheForce said, a 'grinding' noise is perfectly normal for a Powerball which has been used for some time.

In your case however, considering that you have had your Powerball for only one week, I would suggest that the louder running noise is more likely a result of a poor technique applied - at least while you were learning to use your Powerball.

Judging from your images, the only things you really need to do are to give the rotor support ring (white ring) and the shell halves a clean.

With a couple of days of normal use after that your Powerball should be 'run-in' and ready again for some serious training!

well considering I got 11200 on my 3rd day of using powerball with my friend's powerball (which came smooth, etc - and also felt more lig), I would say my technique is right.

Its not my technique, it is the ball for sure. As soon as I got my friend's ball, I spun it and notice a huge difference right from the start.

My ball came like this. I thought it was supposed to be normal.. I guess the postman or something dropped it, cause it definately was not me.

Also, I have already cleaned the ball.

I will try the compressed air treatment later.. But I doubt it will be that, considering that my powerball CAME like this.

Of course it can always be that the powerball got damaged during shipment. But in that case I would expect either a knocking noise (due to a dent in the inner track which is caused by a hard fall) or a rattling noise (due to a damaged rotor which can also be cause by a hard fall :D ). A grinding noise can only result from a rough surface and/or dust on the inner track. And that can only happen after some usage of a powerball.

Do you feel any vibrations when spinning at high speeds?

well the highest speeds I can get with this thing is 9000. Let me check ;p

I dont know about vibrations, but its like its impossible to speed it up after a certain point..

All i know is this ball isnt right :D

I dropped mine accidently and there are numerous dents in the spheres. Also its loud, not like when I bought it. I have only had it around 4 days :(
