View Full Version : clockwise or anti clockwise¬ø?
well, heres a thread that have been create. i created it for areason... i have a question.
it seems that almost everybody does the "clockwise technique", ( i use the "anticlockwise technique") i mean clock or anticlockwise with your right hand.
the point is. it seems that the anticlockwise technique is slower that the other, i know that maybe its just me or i have to build up more muscles or something, but every person i know that does de clockwise technique, are reaching 13k.. except but me T_T xD, am reaching 12400 right know, and i want to get close to 13k...
am doing a couple of METAL 90sec, every day(not every day , am resting avery two days so my muscles get better ^_^) and the i swich to the 250 pro... hope that this helps me..
well, that was my thread any opinions/critics will be happly accepted.
PS: i havent seen a video of a person doing the "anticlockwise" stuff...
Regards to all =D

Watch the Top 10 videos a bit more closely...I think you'll find Akis is clockwise (C), Bjorn is anti-clockwise (A), Jaco is C, Pako is A, Saucé Guillaume is C...so quite a variety really.
I was a part of the first Mini-League here, Flexifoil, and the winner was an A, I was forth and my natural direction is C, but I can now go just as fast with my right hand in either direction...sometimes I'm quicker in A, which still feels a little unnatural to me.
MJ is an A.
If you want to go over 13k then just practice a lot. I'd recommend endurance with the 250Hz rather than the Metal, as the Metal will build more muscle bulk and muscle tends to be slow. (I had a session a couple of weeks back, where I put rubber gloves on and did several one-handed 90s runs with the Metal. My muscles were screaming out at the end, but after a rest I wasn't able to reach anywhere near the sorts of speeds that I normally can after similar endurance runs with a 250Hz.)
Just my opinion though. Basically, the direction you stir your wrist has nothing to do with the top speed you'll reach.

My best direction is different with each hand. I can't even attempt a high score using clockwise motion with my right hand because I'm so much faster going anti-clockwise with my right. Then with my left it's the opposite: very fast clockwise, not so much anti-clockwise.
Perhaps my case isn't the norm because I use my Powerball primarily for rehab on my right (dominant) hand, but I would imagine most people prefer different directions with each hand. Plus I'm no professional so perhaps my technique is not refined enough, which is why I am so much faster with one direction.

A good test would be to run a Powerball in each hand, spinning both hands clockwise or anti-clockwise. I'm not very co-ordinated, and I don't think I could do that...both hands would have to be doing the same motion - each doing a mirror image of the other.

The real trick would be getting the 2nd Powerball started! I've seen videos of people doing this, one of a guy who can start it with only 1 hand, and another of someone who can actually hold two Powerballs in one hand. Those guys must have lots of practice.

I can't do the dual hand flick start yet, but I can place a Powerball between my knees and flick start it from there. The only thing is that you have to get the same hand that did the flick start to grab the ball and get it rotating as quick as possible!

No..I did not practise that much. In fact, I tried a dual powerball single-handed run only 6 times in total (and dual handed runs maybe 10). It's merely a matter of having large hands and also you have to make sure that both powerballs have the same phase in their rotation, otherwise you can't speed both up at the same time.

well ill add the fact that my height is 5.6 feet and i weight 121 pounds, maybe i need to get some muscular mass so i can reach higher speeds...
i think that might help right?

Big?! I'm 5'10" and about 170lbs, but I'm not big.
I've managed a single-handed-dual-Powerball score of nearly 20,000 total, but it's tricky holding onto them at speed, and like The Force says, it's also quite awkward to get them both going smoothly and in time with each other so that you can speed them up.
However, last time I tried I accidentally dropped one of them, my favourite, so I don't do it anymore.

Well it should be. ;)
Now back to the subject of direction of rotation...
I'm clockwise with my right hand and counter-clockwise with my left hand. Does everybody else do it reverse for the other hand?

i dont think am big.... am at the average height i think... ¬¬

Yeah, all the women I know just love seeing me Powerball in all directions!!
(I wish!) ;)
if you're gonna bring a powerball with you in bars, beware that if the chick sleeps with you that first night, she's probably after your powerball and not you.:D

Most women I know either dislike the powerball or hate them  .
So, I guess it is not a good way to approach a woman ;)
