View Full Version : Cannot read LEDs !

Hi,
I received today my 'techno' version of the powerball (the one with the LEDs display).
The ball 'works' fine, but when anything is displayed by the LEDs, the characters are rotating, making the message unreadable.
Pretty frustrating ...
Has anybody experienced the same thing ? Can it be corrected ? Do I have to ... send it back ? (I hope not, I already cannot live without it ! :o)

Hi Flavien

Please note the instructions for this as follows:

Highest Score Achieved:

1. Activate the rotor in the direction of the arrow on its surface and bring the rotation speed up to 6000rpm.

2. The first of the 7 LED√â‰*s built into the surface of the rotor will illuminate. Each subsequent 1000rpm achieved will activate an additional LED.

3. The ball stores the highest speed achieved in its memory and once this has been exceeded, the full band of illuminated LED√â‰*s will begin to flash on and off

4. After a run has been completed, hold the ball firmly in hand and let the rotor slow down. Once the last LED line extinguishes, the highest score achieved will scroll magically across the surface of the rotor - (the skill is also in holding the actual unit steady enough to allow you to read it!)

Number of Revolutions in 30 Seconds

1. Activate the rotor so that the first LED illuminates.

2. Hold that speed for approx. 18 seconds. The blue LED will now illuminate and begin flashing on and off to signify the start of your 30 second run.

3. Spin the rotor as fast as possible for this 30 second duration!

4. Once the time has elapsed, the blue LED will illuminate continuously. After 3 seconds, the achieved score will scroll across the surface of the rotor.

(I must apologise for the instructions that you [may] have received with your new Techno - we had an error during production and may have included the wrong ones in some boxes)

Finally, please also note the following clip that will show you how easy it is to read the score when the ball is supported correctly:

Hope this helps Flavien! With kindest regards, Rory

is the key to holding the ball just keeping it firm, cos no matter how firm i seem to hold it, the letters keep spinning

I am having the same problem it does not matter how steady I hold it it dosen't stop spining and when it does slow down enough the light are already of. I realy do not have any idea how you are able to make it spin staight on that video.

I found that if you let it have some give hold it in your finger tips as oppose to trying to hold tight.

let it hang from the wrist strap, works everytime!

It isn't as straightforward as it should be, is it? But to hang it from the strap is to ignore the VERY explicit warnings/instructions that it should ALWAYS be held firmly when spinning at ANY speed! I got sick trying to read the damn spinning colours by pinning it to a tabletop, but - as the red stipes reduce 4..3..2.. loosen your grip momentarily and you should be able to stabilise the ball so the stripe is a steady red band (the gyro is only rotating on one axis). it is after it reaches the last stripe (LED) as it slows down that it displays the speed a couple of times (if you're lucky!).

Hi all,
The Strap Hanging Tip works great!
I have just got my Techno Powerball and spent 3hrs spinning it to try and see the RPM displayed..in vain. By hanging the strip I saw the result Immediatelly!!! (8331 :-( )

Thanks
