Is it safe to put the powerball in water??

Basically I have my ball for a week now and it's already starting to make some weird noises even though I did everything the site suggested. I wanted to check if there was any dust in it but unfortunately one of the screws just won't budge so I can't open it. The site also suggested I could dip the power ball into water to rinse it but I haven't seen any topics on this site where anyone was doing this. I just have the regular powerball with no LED's and I can take the counter off. Should I try it?

For fun, I've put Powerballs in water, (great fun when they're spinning fast!), but as you say, as long as it's not a Neon model and you take the counter off, you should be fine. Just make sure it's completely dry before you put the counter back on.

Ok I tried washing it and for the most part the weird sound is gone except for when it slows down. The weird thing is it feels like the powerball has become lighter and I'm having more trouble getting it up to speed, it takes a bit longer. Is that normal? I was thinking it might be because there is less dust in it so the ball handles a bit differently and I just need to get used to it but I'm not sure.

I wonder if it works if you start the ball first and then put some tape and/or plastic on the holes to make it waterproof?? Might be difficult but doable... That would be a great workout in the water with the added resistance and all

There might have left some water in the ball. The ball needs some resistance when speeding up and the water is lubricating the ball and spoiling the friction it needs to work. To make sure it's completely dry put it in a drying cabinet, use a hairdryer or the quickest and easiest: open it up and make sure it's dry all around with a towel. After this your problem should be solved.
