If you powerball clockwise right, the ball is spinning so that the torgue is transferred along the arm towards your biceps at the point it is furthest from your body.
This can be seen when you make an action as if you were to hit a tennis ball underarm across the court, you circle the wrist out clockwise then use the bicep to pull the motion of the racket back up to a neutral position.
This is the place in the oscillation where the ball can gain the most energy from your arm, new powerballers (such as myself) will probably notice the ball actaully appearing to go faster in short bursts towards that part of the spin outermost from your body.
If you spin it anti-clockwise in your RH then the point that your ball gains most energy is when its closest to your body, this involves using both the tricep and bicep muscles.. I think this may mean more experienced powerballers would prefer to use the latter technique as they have more balanced arm muscles than the average user
