Cool Can you still get powerballs without the counter weight?

    Hi guys,

I was just reading the post about how to wear in a new powerball and differences between spinning directions, and came across these comments:

"......the newer rotors feeling like they slip at high speed. I currently have two Powerballs with old rotors, (don't have the cylindrical counter weight on one side of the axle), and two Powerballs with new rotors that DO have the counter-weight."

"....In tests I'm consistently between 4% and 10% slower with the newer rotor.... There'll be times when I'm struggling to even get 11500 with the new Powerball, but will be able to whack out 12500 to 13000 easily with the old one"

    I have a few questions:

Do all new powerballs have these counter weights + can you still get powerballs without?

If this counter weight seems to cause so much less performance, why is it there?

My powerball vibrates a bit too, it smoothes out after a bit of high speed powerballing, but the vibrations or noises come back when they feel like it. Im sure this is partly my lousy technique, but this stuff about counter (productive) weights is a bit worrying.

Apart from that i love the thing, been submitting scores on the strength index , not anywhere near on the speed scoreboard yet! (11677)

Default its so much fun replying to myself

Im guessing the answer is a unanimous "No" then, you cant get powerballs without the counterweight anymore. (or you never could in the first place)

No....I think you can only find them in museums these days ;-)

Btw, I know from a dutch powerball distributor that he has two pieces at stock, but that he has put them in his "vitrine kast"!!! What a waste.....:-)

Yes, we hava a few of them about the place here too.. in fact, as I type, I'm gazing over at our 'memorabilia' section of the office, I can see the good, the bad, and the sheer knock-offs!

To answer your question though Mark, they don't come without them anymore.

    Regards

Vitrinekast is probably best translated as display cupboard, but there might be a better word.

Thanks for the responses about the old style powerballs, im guessing the counterweight has made it better then seeing as thats all thats being made anymore.

I've got two Powerballs with the counter-weights and two without, (not counting the Metal). Prefer them without really, as in my experience they've ALWAYS been faster. (When I do my Dual-Powerball video I'll use the ones without.)

Default so... why is it there?

So... why on earth is the counterweight on every single powerball nowadays if it makes them slower?
