Rotor ring feels a little loose

Hi,

I'm a powerball newbie, just got mine from the internet, and I wonder if my powerball is working properly. First of all, I apologize for the difficulty to describe my problem - english is not my first language. But here we go:

The room/gap between the both main plastic halves seems to be too wide for the ring that holds the rotor.

If I hold my powerball (not spinning) with the counter up, and push the rotor up with my finger, I feel a little gap (around 1mm, really small).

When I try to spin my powerball, most of the times this little gap makes the rotor "bounce" because of the free room avaliable for the ring.

I've opened the powerball and there's no dent, or anything that suggests damage. Maybe everything is ok and I am not spinning it the right way, but I want to be sure so that's why I'm asking here.

On the other hand, I feel like if that gap was smaller, maybe if would hold back the ring's horizontal rotation.

The gap between the tracks is just over 3mm, the axle is just under 2mm in diameter so there is a bit of play, this allows the rotor to have one axle on one track and one on the other so it rolls along the track. It is all perfectly normal and nothing to worry about, once it gets up to speed the bouncing will stop.

Fortunately size has little to do with it, there are some less than bulky people with really good scores. Stick with it though. I remember when 13k seemed an impossible dream

Hi, and welcome to the forums. As LTL says, the play in the rotor at rest is normal. If you're holding the Powerball counter-side-up, and imagine that inside the Powerball the rotor axles sit within a groove, and are both going to be resting on the lower track of the groove, with a bit of a gap to the upper track. But when it's spinning, one of the axles will actually be pressed against the upper track. Gyroscopic torque causes the rotor to try and twist, pushing one rotor axle end onto the upper track and the other end onto the lower track. This means that once spinning, no matter which way you hold it, the axle will remain pressed hard against the track. The faster you spin, the harder it presses. And it's *this* torque which causes the Powerball to "wobble" about when it's spinning, and try to twist itself out of your hand.

As for 13000, that's a good target to aim for, and if you practice lots it should be well within your reach. I got to the high 12000s within a few weeks, but it was months before I reached 13000.

It always makes your arms hurt you will just need to go for longer for it to happen.

my arm doesn't hurt... the only problem after a full day playin' with the powerball si that I can't do precise grabs. I have a weak hand for the moment.
