I have hit a brick wall at the 12k stage, had one good run at 124??k but now I just manage either high 11s or low 12s.
Ive started doing 60sec runs and noticed my score seems to be creeping up again so my question is, how often do you do 30, 60 or 90 runs?
Im thinking just doing a high speed run over and over again isnt going to help as much as some 30 or 60 second runs.....
If I were you I would go for an extreme session of about an hour, maintaining a decent speed of 8.5k - 9.5k, changing hands every 30 seconds to a minute. It'll really pump the muscles, and also train the muscles into making as little movement as possible.
Or, if you want to do 30, 60 and 90-second runs, 2 to 4 runs of each, (one-handed), would probably be enough for a good session, with 2 or 3 minutes rest between each run. Always go for a balanced run, maintaining a constant speed throughout, rather than going balls-to-the-wall at the start and fading badly.
Then rest for a few minutes and have a go at some speed runs. I wouldn't be surprised if you shot over 12.5k and got nearer 13k. You just need to really concentrate on moving your hand as little as possible, and lock that wrist as much as you can too.
lol, saying that I have just done a PB Will put my score on my minileague tomorrow.
I will give it a go tonight and see what I can do with say a 15 mins session. Don't want to over do it straight away
Thanks for the tips!
Another question, I have noticed two of the guys in my office are holding the powerball the same as me but when it comes to spinning it they turn their hand sideways, meaning the bottom of the PB is facing to the left (if using their right hand). I tend to keep the bottom of the PB facing the floor.
Is there an advantage to either techniques? I have hit the 13143 score and as I am typing this the other guy has just knocked me of the top spot!! 13300!!! Ok. I may have to look at my technique now!!
So, you lot that are hitting high speeds, do you keep the ball flat or spin it on its side??
edit: One thing that has changes it the guy who has just beaten by score by over 150rpms did have his PB dropped about 15 mins before hand.....could this have sped or freed the ball up somehow???
How you hold the Powerball doesn't really bear any relation to the speeds you'll achieve. Whatever technique and position you stick with will probably be the one you'll score best with.
If you find a long time passes without making any improvements then a change can be a good idea. I got stuck on about 13200 for well over a year, so changed the direciton I gyrate my wrists. At first it was awful, but I soon came back and make the best progress ever.
I hold the Powerball sort of with the rotor facing the floor, but when I get up to speed I find my palm sort of faces backwards, so the rotor would be facing the floor several paces behind me. Sometimes I move my arm out towards the side/infront of me, and then the rotor will be facing the floor.
Cheers for that, sounds like we use roughly the same technique. Never thought about spinning in the opposite direction though.
