    Default Grooves

Hi there everyone...just got my blue powerball neon today..its so addictive !! just a little bit of a worry though and wondered if im doing something wrong, Ive noticed a lot of grooves around the edge of the powerball underneath, I think its the string cutting across the edge as I pull to start it...just wondering if this is normal or is my technique wrong?

Hey and welcome to the forum

Hmm, are these like friction burns that have been cut into the shell edge by the starting cord? If this is the case then I think you may indeed be starting the ball incorrectly with the string, at no point should the string be pulled over the edge of the casing.

Try this, Hold the ball with the rotor hole face up, with the groove on the rotor going straight ahead and start winding the starting cord onto the rotor by rolling it with your thumb or finger away from you. When the string is fully wound and the ball is still in the same orientation as before, hold it with one hand and using your thumb on that hand keep the wound string in place, then pull the string end towards your body with your other hand.

I hope that made sense, if you do it this way the string shouldn't be rubbing along any part of the casing and hopefully won't cause any more grooves on the nice shiny ball

I hope this has helped, and have fun powerballing

PS. Just remembered I have a video that might help you.
