    Thumbs down Going over 10,000?

I've been PBalling for a few weeks but can't seem to break past a top speed of 10,000 (well, I had one lucky session and hit 10900 - but not since).

Both times I got (for me) good scores was rapidly from a standing start - but try as I might I can't get the speeds back again. I can speed up to 9K pretty well straight away, but get stuck around that level.

Is this a strength or technique issue? I PB about 45 mins a day then rest then another 45 mins next day etc. Like I say - I can get up to 9K quite easily then my hand/wrist/arm just doesn't know what to "do" to go any faster. Any tips here would really help me. Cheers.

hey, don't worry, I just think that you might be overdoing it a little for a beginner. Its quite commong that if you push yourself too hard with powerballing the progress can stagnate and even seem to be going backwards, however this is usually due to the muscles, tendons and whatever else being overworked and not operating at 100% anymore. Give it a complete rest for a few days to let your arms recover and then see if you notice any improvements when you take it up again.

If you still can't get back to 10k, try using different grips or spinning directions and see if that may have something to do with it. However I'm pretty sure that a good rest is all you need

    Good luck

PS. When you do start again after your break make sure to incorporate some 30 and 90s strength runs into the training, this is a sure fire way to improve your technique and strength and will reflect positively on your high score as a result.

Yeah, don't worry Mesmerick, it's just a technique-thing. It's not something most people can do straight away anyway, but the technique is something your muscles have to learn through repetition.

Rather than just going for speed, do what Lhnova suggested and do some Strength Endurance runs. That's the fourth option on the counter. Set it to 90, get the Powerball up to speed, and then press ON/CLR to reset the timer back to 90. Then with one hand only, spin the Powerball pretty hard for 90 seconds. Don't go flat out or you'll tire too quickly. Just aim to spin at roughly 8000 to 9000 rpm if you can.

The constant spinning for 90 seconds will grind the motion into your muscles, and they'll learn to resist the force from the Powerball, learning to make smaller and smaller motions, and thereby allowing for higher and higher speeds. Even after one 90s run you might find that if you rest for a minute, and then go for speed, that you'll surprise yourself.

I always do a cold run when I start a session, to see what sort of speed I can get, and then I do a 90s run with one hand, and then one with the other. Straight after that I can add 500 to 1000 rpm onto my cold run score. They're a great way to warm up.

When you're a bit more used to the Powerball, a longer endurance session might be a good idea too. 10 minutes to an hour, non-stop, swapping hands every 30 seconds to a minute. Helped me when I was starting out.

Listen, I thought my pb was broken down (even though it broke down few days later...) but the thing ive done is that I rested about 2 days then I nailed 10k's pretty easily, a day later on I couldnt go over 9.5k and later that day I couldnt even pass the 9k because I overdid my exercises, anytime I was bored I pb'ed up and that was about 4/7 of time I was awake. So the basic thing is rest for a day or two, I know its hard for beginners to rest because its addicting but always you can try harder
    Good Luck,

if you still havnt passed it i may suggest:
try finding your berserk technique, its when u go crazy and wont care of technique anymore just spin it how u know form 9k and above but alot faster without caring about the score - spin like somone is aiming a gun to your head, or mybe a hornet that is chasing you (erm not, that tip is for running hehe) its psychological, dont think about the score just think about the sound and "i want higher noise" thoughts, thats help sometimes, use stuff to improve your grip, but if its your first tries with it, dont spin hard so your skin wont get burnt out, or fingers swollen up.
    All the best,

    Ron
