Thread: Damaged Powerball

    Default Damaged Powerball

    Hi everyone,

I was just wondering what kind of things should I look for when searching for faults in a powerball? My neon blue clicks a lot and feels like something is loose. I opened it up but cannot see what is wrong. Nothing seems loose and the rotor seems fine.

    Cheers,
    Tibor

Those sounds are most likely completely normal. I tell a lot of people that as long as the rotor isn't vibrating strongly at higher speeds there really isn't much that can be wrong with your powerball. All my powerballs have sounded rough and made weird noises at some point but they usually disappear again. If you do have an unbalaned rotor you will notice straight away. It will feel like a very regular buzzing and vibrating feeling that gets quite strong at higher rpm, and usually lowers the achievable top speed down quite a bit.

If you think the rotor is unbalanced, open the powerball and have a close look at the fins on the rotor, because cracks in these are the most common cause for vibrations.

    Good luck with your spinning.
