    Default Another UK'er

I just got my first poweball a couple of days ago and i cant put the thing down!
I've been playing squash (badly) for about a year and have recently bought a couple of guitars. Ive also been wanting to build up my upper body strength for some time, so when i spotted a powerball online I quickly realised the benefits.
Im hoping regular use will help improve my squash power and accuracy, and strengthen my left hand especially so that i can hold awquard chords for longer.

Im still getting a hang of the proper technique, and havent yet mastered the flick-start (im not getting enough speed from the flick which isnt helping) but i think im getting better, just need to practice a bit more at maintaining the motion at lower speeds. My record is 9212 at the moment, which im fairly happy with, hopefully ill push that over 10k fairly soon though!

Hi and welcome to the club of happy Powerball addicts.

I have been Powerballing since September 2006 and have not been able to put them down for very long. I'm sure you will find many benefits from Powerballing in enhancing your squash and guitar playing skills. Plus, you are going to have a blast trying to beat your own records and those of others on the scoreboards.

The forum community is great here. As a new Powerballer, take it moderately on the first week or so until you get the accustomed to the rotation and the force of the Powerball before you aim for spectacular speed records. Read up on the previous posts in the discussion board to learn good techniques, tips, and some of the growing history of Powerballing that has developed over the last few years.

You will find great information here.

With some practice, knowledge, and determination you will find all the tools you need to register some great speed records on your Powerball and also become part of the fantastic history of this growing sport.

We'll be looking forward to seeing some of your new scores as you develop your technique. Have fun, and keep spinning!

    Always Powerballing,
    Duane Cash

I've had powerball for a few months now and it has definitely helped my racket sports (tennis for me ) and my guitar playing so it's well worth it!

... and Welcome to the forum!

Same again, my tennis shot has improved and thats without really playing alot of tennis, when i get back on the courts i will retain my number 1 spot for another year. Also Guitar seems to have improved aswell, picked it up for once and found it alot easier to hold certain chords, powerballs just seem to work wonders!

Hi Caldie, and welcome to the forum from me aswell. My wife and I are also a keen squash players, I would say that I am quite proficient, but my wife is only a beginner. She especially had problems with correct shot execution, as a strong wrist is a prerequisite. After only a week or so of slow endurance runs on the Powerballs, her skill improved dramatically and I was suitably impressed, as you can imagine.

    Good luck!

Endurance is a good option to go for as it's by far the best workout if you want to achieve anything out of the powerball

I do find personally that I get a much better "muscle pump", if that is the correct term, when I do intense speed sessions - in other words, my arms have a lot more blood in them and are much stiffer when I do 5 - 10 min sessions of spinning the ball as fast as I can for 20s - 30s per hand. When I go longer than a minute per hand at a pace fast enough to hold it through the whole minute, my arm just starts to cramp.

    More encouraging feedback..
So far I have been doing long sessions at slower speeds, with the occasional burst, which seems a fairly decent workout for the arms. Im going up to scotland on a gliding trip for the next week (should be soaring along mountain ridges, damn good fun although ive only started a few months ago so cant do much myself.) and wont be taking the powerball as id rather not **** off everyone else in the cottage with the noise, but once im back im going to establish a routine to make sure i stick with this (not that that will be a problem, PB is far too entertaining, i can hardly put it down!)
